I'm competing with LinkedIn..

Most of us know about LinkedIn.

It's a goldmine of leads for B2B companies. With around 500 million users, it’s the #1 social network when it comes to B2B marketing & sales. I remember recently reading that about 80% of all B2B social media is done on LinkedIn.

If I could secure just 1% of their marketshare, I could easily make $100 millions

Actually, I'm just kidding. Instead of competing with Linkedin, I've decided it makes more CENTS (or 'sense', get it? ahaha) to work with the incredible ecosystem - that's why I've created Quiklist.io, it's a very simple tool AND IT'S FREE (no catch).

At work I was finding it really difficult to build my marketing and sales contact lists. I would have to manually go on Linkedin and copy names of my prospects/leads on to my excel sheet to upload to my CRM and Mailing List system. So I decided to make a simple Google Chrome extension - Quiklist.io - which allows you to quickly find, collect and download all of your contacts from Linkedin (even includes their email addresses).

I have many ideas as to how I could improve upon this solution but right now it's in BETA testing and I want as many people to try it out and give me feedback as to how useful it is before I decide to further invest in it. Personally it's helped me meet all my sales targets and reduced time it takes to increase my pipeline by around $140,000, which is pretty darn impressive considering the simplicity of the tool.

Please visit Quiklist.io and give me your feedback after using it, thank you fellow Fastlaners!

How would you monetize it? Also I would look up about the legal side of your information use.

Good luck and crush it!
I'd just copy the other models out there for payments. As for legal I've got it covered!

Thanks

I like it, I could see how it is useful. Keep listening to feedback and iterating. Would be a good acqusition for someone in the SalesForce or MailChimp space.

How do you plan to monetize since it is free? Be careful with that model...

Awesome way to scratch your own itch!

I don't see a clear monetization strategy, though. Maybe with more features you can do a similar play to something like ClearBit or LinkedIn Sales Navigator? Aim to get acquired?

This is the part that's unclear to me. A solvable problem though, surely.

Very good references, I'll take a further look at ClearBit's model. My primary focus is solely on customer acquisition and refining the tool with feedback.

I'm bookmarking some ideas from these replies already, so if this gets bigger, I can take another look at how I can implement them.
But at the same time, the downside of not monetizing this immediately is that people might solely be using it just because it's free. The question later on will be "is this worth $$$?" - the true test of value. Thanks for bringing that up, something worth thinking about this week.

@MetalGear curious what you think about monetizing too early/late?

There are a ton of LinkedIn scrapers out there. What sets you apart?

Maybe make it free up to a certain threshold that limits searches/lines of CRM data returned? Then usually there are two or three other tiers.

Wow, thanks. That's one hell of a list.

@GatsbyMag , how would you differentiate yourself from seamless.ai?

@DaRK9
Good point, differentiation was the easiest part of setting this up, as MJ mentions, it's simply about understanding your audience and what actually brings value to them. I think MJ even mentions how a crowded marketplace gives more opportunity in Unscripted or Fastlane.

To keep this thread on track, I'm hoping people here who use Linkedin for prospecting can give Quiklist.io a shot and give feedback on its existing features and what they'd like to see added.

Appreciate the general business discussion so far, especially monetary, but the intention is really to get feedback on the product. I know there are some active businessmen here like @Andy Black - hope to get your feedback if this is actually useful for you.

Thanks!

Please, please, please make a "select all" button that selects the thousands of people that might come up in a search result.

This is a great idea. I love it.

I would 100% use this.
Great suggestion, I'll include it in the next update and notify you! I might also drop you a private message later to ask you a question or two. Thanks

If you can tilt it towards an industry like HR recruiting, real estate, etc it would help.

I believe he means something like, if you could scrape this data for other people and put it to use. For example, sales consulting, or lead generation for clients.
^^^ Exactly. Use the tool yourself and charge people for a service.

Oh I see, very good idea.

Although I'm not too sure if my market would want or need that kind of service. Something to consider as an alternative.

Thanks

The reason I’m suggesting a service is so you engage the market in hand-to-hand combat. Find out what they will actually pay for, and who will pay for a service and who will pay for a tool. Your market can be broadly split between the DFY and the DIY (done-for-you vs do-it-yourself).

Within the DIY are those that will pay to do it better, and those that won’t. If you’re going to serve the DIY market then you want to find out why some will pay and some won’t. What do the payers have in common? Do they have a payroll already? Do they have sales folks who will use the tool? Are they already paying for LinkedIn Ads? Are they already paying for ads on other platforms? Etc.

When you say you’re not too sure your market would pay for a service, is that because you’ve asked them, or because you’re guessing? If you asked them then are you sure you’re asking the market that would buy a service?

I was following a guy called Cody Butler for a bit. He used LinkedIn to build his agency. He also offers (offered?) a LinkedIn managed service.

Interesting but it deviates from my business focus. As I'm the target market, I know why most people in my industry don't use "scrapers" or hire agencies & outsourced services.

My hypothesis was that some people on the forums might use Quiklist the way someone in my industry uses it, but it seems only a handful on this forum actually relate which is interesting. Definitely reinforces the idea of living where your market lives.
