I stumbled upon The Millionaire Fastlane a few weeks ago. Still reading through it, re-reading sections and totally absorbing it. This is what I have been looking for!
I was a full-time, self-employed personal trainer for 13 years focusing on post-rehab, corrective exercise...all in-home and at local parks. It was a blast and exhausting. I was originally encouraged to so by my first client who built one of the first HMO hospitals in America. I learned what I could from him, but his knowledge and business savvy was way about my head! We worked out some ideas for my expand, but I just couldn't envision scaling this type of business up without a ton of employee and client headaches. So...I just enjoyed the freedom to travel for a month every summer and every winter when 50% of my clients were also travelling and their client loyalty to my fitness training service was amazing. I learned a TON!
In 2017, I had finally burned out. Tired of doing everything from marketing, running sessions, bookkeeping, listening to client health issues, networking with surgeons and physical therapists, etc and all the other etc's. So, I joined the Hollywood circus through a friend of mine in the Locations department. This is where any and every non-studio location is managed, planned, problem solved, resident appeasement, permits, contracts, street closures and making sure the film crew can get the shot in the world they want the scene to happen. It was a thrill! To be told where to be and when to be there was a nice break. I worked on multiple seasons of the shows BOSCH for Amazon Prime and Strange Angel for Paramount which is a true historical story about the invention of rockets, right here in SoCal Pasadena, California. I highly recommend it (Strange Angel) for some inspiration to your entrepreneurial endeavors...Jack Parsons later established JPL (Jet Propulsion Laboratory)...if that rings a bell...?...and the story also invovles Alister Crowley and L. Ron Hubbard! (Scientology?) I ended the full-time Hollyweird stint in 2020 with the pandemic production shutdowns and knowing that it wasn't going to be forever...and I started to re-focus on a new business idea...

Currently, reading through and doing the work from the book Value Proposition Design by the Stragegyzer guys. They have some PDFs on questions related to a customer's 'Pains', 'Gains' and 'Jobs' to answer in order to solve the problem(s) our customer segment has. They also have Business Model Generator and Testing Business Ideas. Good stuff. So I am slowly building this product (or service) that can address these big questions, whatever it ends up being. And this is just before the rubber meets the road! And the uncertainty for making the right decision on what to focus on. I know the problem I want to solve, just not sure if it is too big of a problem to solve and if it is SO perfect that I cannot believe it. Ha! And so reading and listening to the books and reading through this forum I hope to move toward solidifying this new entrepreneurial endeavor.
