I finally have an idea something that isn't being done enough in my industry and I want to make the best of it.

I had a website made for $1500. Guy ends up doing it on wordpress and the backend is not optimized.

New guy that our parent company hired to start on internet marketing etc. has told me I should build a brand new website that can handle the type of traffic I'd like and the quality of traffic.

I was told it'll cost me approximately 5k to get a new website along with 10 to 15k in advertising a month.

SO...now there is where I need the fastlane's help and I'l make this into a progress thread but first thing is first....can anyone recommend a great website builder? The nice thing for me is that I do not need to sell the leads as others are currently doing. I can use these leads myself in my new business venture.

I don't have enough information to give you a clear response,
but let me try to save you some $ and anguish Lol

Questions to ask yourself:

1. Who is my ideal Dream Customer? Age/gender/interest/painpoint/etc
2.What is the "bait" lead magnet that would attract him/her?
3. Where do they hangout online?
4. What result and value can I provide them?
5. What is my Customer Lifetime Value and what is the highest Cost Per Lead I am willing to pay?

Next is,
What traffic source are you using?

I doubt you need a $5000 website initially just to get leads,
Especially if it's just like name and phone number type stuff.

Maybe a funnel, but chances that you really NEED a $5k website are slim unless you're going heavy on SEO.

You simply need a targeted traffic, a landing page and a thank you page for your initial test run
And see if it's converting and hitting your target Cost Per Lead

If it is, great scale up
If not, try different LP/build more robust funnel

Hope that helps

This website will be going very heavy on SEO. As far as I know the click cost is between 12 and 17 dollars.

I hired guys that were already purchasing leads from the competition and now I am also purchasing leads from the competition and paying in excess of 15k a month for them. This will really make sense for me as I don't need to look for an end customer to purchase my leads I am the end customer.

What do you need to optimize backend ? The wp admin panel ?!

New guy that our parent company hired to start on internet marketing etc. has told me I should build a brand new website that can handle the type of traffic I'd like and the quality of traffic.

Website handle traffic ? Talking about load speed? If not you need to worry about the server, not the website.

I was told it'll cost me approximately 5k to get a new website along with 10 to 15k in advertising a month.

Holy F*ck, you can easily validate your idea with $1K in ads, no need committing to that type of money before you can show some ROI (unless you like flushing money down the toilet of course)

Literally, nearly everything to do with website building and Wordpress is either free or there are fairly cheap off the shelf solutions.

I would be really and truly shocked if you are doing something that needs $5k in coding.

If it's $5k in design, then sure, maybe (although more than likely an off the shelf theme could work - and I'd also be wary of spending this much on an unproven idea.)

If you actually came out and said "I need my website to do this" I imagine someone here could point you to a solution.

Like if you need to track leads, performance, etc.: http://getcake.com/

Not going to guess at anything else you need (you might not even need that), but I imagine there's solutions.

The website is just a basic lead generation website. I was gold Wordpress isn't the best site to go about this with.

I will be getting quotes on Friday (tomorrow) I will keep you guys posted.

What is the specific problem with WordPress?

Terms like "backend not optimized" and "going heavy on SEO" are not at all specific and I can't see why it wouldn't be able to handle "the type of traffic" or "the quality of traffic".

A well set up WordPress install is quite capable (especially of basic leadgen), and without being specific in what the problem is, you're just going to end up spending $5k and ending up with something very similar to what you have now.

some lead gens sites are built with technology back from the ages of dinosaurs , ugly dated looking sites
and they continue to generate leads....

Actually in some niches a plain bland site converts better

My lead gen sites typically only have one page. They're built with Wordpress.

Granted, I'm sending paid search traffic to the page, and not trying to get organic traffic. Hence only needing one page.

If I was to go the content marketing route for a particular site, I'd definitely stick with Wordpress, at least initially.

Remember that landing pages or websites don't convert:

This thread might help too, especially the last two slides in the 8th post:

Whats your niche? Is it law/compensation type of leads you are trying to get?

What are you willing to pay for a lead atm?

I might be able to assist you with lead gen.
