I've just been training a paid search and content marketing team on exactly how to do what I cover in this video.

I originally dropped the video into the inside on Aug-2014 here.

I thought it might people on the outside ...

This calls to mind the word "concatenation," favorite of a former digital agency/search pro I used to know.

verb (used with object), concatenated, concatenating.
1.
to link together; unite in a series or chain.

Fantastic video! Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to watch this about 16 more times...
Ha. I completely forgot about this video. I should probably drop a version into my course, or do an "Excel With AdWords" course (I actually had the .com for that... but didn't want a domain with AdWords in it).

Annoyingly, the Vimeo full-screen controls don't seem to show when the video is embedded in the forum. Makes it a bit small to view.

I think a short guide of how to use excel in regards to Adwords would be a great addition to your course!

@Andy Black you mention that it's best to split up the long tail keywords into heads and geomodified tails.

Do you have any method of doing that? I mean something more efficient than going and manually removing the location keywords from the tails.

What's your method of doing this?

Yes, I often try to split out the short-head from the long-tail, and I often start with the long-tail buyer search terms.

So I might have a campaign targeting the whole of Ireland where I’m bidding on:
  • blacksmiths dublin
  • blacksmiths cork
  • blacksmiths galway
(Where Dublin, Cork, and Galway are counties in Ireland.)

I may then create a campaign per county that targets people searching when they’re physically IN that county and keywords will be:
  • +blacksmiths +near-me
  • [blacksmiths]
I may even bid on:
  • +blacksmiths
but I’d be careful of it canabalising other keywords, and bringing in junk.
