I know Jon lee mentioned playing some golf, but I've got to be honest, I haven't played golf since I was 19. LOL

You guys aren't teaching pro's or anything right? ;)

Purely a skins game.

What was the last hole, SteveO, around $100K? ;)

Yes, the AC was loud in Sunday afternoon.

Any other locations that the locals can think of?

I am not clear on what folks can afford, but if we move in with a group rate you can negotiate some discounts.

Chaparral Suites is a great spot and I recommend it to all my friends and family. For the price of a room, you get a suite with a living room (and fold out bed), free breakfast, and free happy hour. Its similar to Embassy Suites. Plus, its across the street from my house and the wifey and I know the bar staff.

Hotel Scottsdale is supposed to be a trendy little hotel and is right next door to Chaparral Suites. More expensive but supposedly nicer. I met the owner (total d-bag) when they bought the hotel earlier in 2007. They arent doing too well, so you might be able to negotiate a discount.

Firesky is a higher end spa-resort. Great little pool, great restaurant, but pretty pricey. Good if you got the cash and are coming with a spouse who will want to do a little more high end relaxation.

Days Inn is your best priced option, though there is a Super 8 just down the street. A little on the rough side in terms of amenities, but cheap. All of these are close to the action and are walking distance to one another (for you heavy drinkers and car-less folks).

One option is a vacation home (www.vrbo.com) if you can coordinate with a larger group of folks. You could all split the cost and have reasonable living arrangements.

Stuff to do that is within walking distance of these hotels:
  • Free stuff
    • Hike Camelback Mountain
    • RE tour of the Phoenix-Metro area
    • Ride (rented) bikes down the canal
  • Control-your-own-cost stuff
    • Bar hopping (Six, Suede, PCL, E4)
    • Shopping at Scottsdale Fashion Square
  • Eccentric Fun
    • Scottsdale Gun Club
    • Lions Den MMA Gym
    • Wine Tasting at Khazamirz
Just some thoughts off the top of my head. There's lots to do out here, its all a function of time and cost. I would suggest a teambuilding/networking activity that fits everyone's cultural requirements.

Do you know what type of Conference Rooms these places have? It is key to identify that soon.

RealOG,

I tried to send you an e-mail but it bounced on me. Can you check with your friend at the Marriot for conference room (35 people) and 15 room reservations?

Just wanted to say the Days Inn worked fine for us last year. The walking distance part was cool. Looks like there are many others with walking distance advantages.

I would like to have a black board or big pad with markers. Just remembered I wanted to do some writing during my presentation, but hey it might just be that I was powerpointless...

My mom's in town, so I've got my hands full for the next day or so.

FOr B&P I've been checking general airfare costs from Co, NY, CA, and DC.

Are there other airports any of you want me to include in my calcs?

Thanks,

-Russ H.

No more than $500 a day for 3 days (Fri, Sat, Sun).

At 20 people, that's $1500 ÷ 20 = 75 per person.

Total reg would run around $125-150 pp if we do it this way.

Was working on this just last night.

Plan is to have the event be ALL DAY Friday-Sat-Sunday (8:30 am - late, Sunday 'til 4:30 pm)

I need help!

FOR THOSE WHO PLAN ON COMING TO PHOENIX, AZ IN FEB/MAR 2009:

1. What City will you be traveling FROM?

I've just been guessing for my calcs, and the spreadsheet is getting way too big.

Thanks, andviv.

BTW, airfares have gone DOWN across the board in the last 2 weeks.

Either ORD(O'Hare) or MID(Midway), both are in Chicago

BTW is this now the official B&P thread?

I know there were a few floating around a few weeks back and just wanted to make sure which one to check on for updates.

But I will already be in Phoenix Feb. 1 -> March 8.

Curious why where we're coming from is a part of B&P planning?

Russ,

I can appreciate you going above and beyond for the B&P, but I don't think that you need to burden yourself with solving other people's travel problems/potential cost. No one expects you to do as much as you currently are, as you are already going above and beyond; let's land on a date and let the chips fall where they may. ...The B&P has incredible value, and is worth 100x the cost as it stands.

Cool w/me.

We've just had some in the past that have been VERY critical of airfare costs for themselves, so I was trying to optimize this/keep things lower.

If this is not critical, then our next step is to have SteveO or Bio or ?? see if the same room is available, or if they want to switch us to a different spot.
