I would advise to be wary of this kind of advice, either to one's younger self or someone else. I understand where you're coming from, but it's an advice that'll always be valid only in hindsight, which renders it inapplicable. Also, it makes you feel regretful.

For you 25 yr old+ guys out there, if you could go back in time, and tell your 25 year old self something, what would you say?
Find better friends and start a business that is tech related. Learn SEO and focus on creating something that can scale. Starting a business is a ton of work so focus on one that can potentially change your life.

And if you do achieve your goals in your 20s, what are you going to do then? Life is a lot longer than just your first few years of your adult life...

You think so now... I can tell you that if you don't plan -- and live every moment -- within that moment -- even if it isn't guaranteed -- the time will slip away -- and you'll wake up one day with huge regrets.

Jesper THANK YOU for your service. In my personal circle I have only one friend in bad shape, nightmares, ptsd, etc top off his spouse left and took kids with her and he is basically just trying to numb himself. But that doesn't touch the over 3600 estimated homeless in Houston area. I would love to learn how to help our veterans in our community and raise awareness. Our vets deserve not to struggle with necessities for living.

I wouldn't say anything to my 20-year-old self.

That kid just doesn't listen
You're right. I raised two families of kids. They didn't listen to anyone older until they were in their mid-twenties. It was when they got out and tried to build a life that they came back and wanted advice on how to do it. Until they tried it, they knew everything.

30 now.

If you try something, you may fail. If you don't try at all, you will surely fail.

You can change. You will change. And you have it in your power to steer this change in the right direction.

You messed up badly in the past. Ok. You can learn from it, cherish the experience it gave you, then move on and do better.

You are not as fixed in your abilities and talents as you think you are.

Stop treating the world as if it owed you. Stop seeing yourself as the center of the universe. Things will improve so much if you stop being so self-centered.

Practice empathy. Trying to see the other point of view is invaluable in navigating life, business, love, everything basically.

Listen to your inner voice, but also to the feedback around you. Everything is giving you feedback, all of the time, be it silently, with words or with gestures. Listen more.

If you think the feedback is outrageous and there is no way it could be true, then it is probably time to reflect.

If you feel badly treated, don't put up with it.

If you feel you may have treated someone badly, don't make them put up with it. Apologize and do better.

Meditation is not a heal-all. Sitting around for hours won't fix the leaky faucet in your kitchen. There is a reason that monks in a zen temple work a lot every day on all kinds of chores.

Learning about business, markets, finance, a bit of math definitely won't hurt you at all. Even if you hated maths in school, you will successfully study economics soon (noooo way!)

Keep discovering, stay curious.

You will still be figuring it out in 5 years. But you will get a heck of a lot better.

Your life is temporary, and so is everything else. This also applies to opinions, successes, fear, anxiety, emotions, inspiration. Make the most of the things you got.

Think about what your future self won't regret if you ask it in 10 years, then do that.

Do your squats. But I know you'll do ;P

Love you <3

People are going to judge you NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO, so you may as well BE who you want to be and DO what you want to do!

Never take advice from anyone who you wouldn't want to trade places with, and even then, question whether that advice really is the reason they themselves are where they are.

Failure is a fantastic thing as long as you keep learning from it.

When you are 30 you will realise you are still REALLY young, and even when you are 40 you won't feel as old as you think you will!

Stop waiting...
Stop waiting to ask the girl out.
Stop waiting for the employer to call you back with a job offer.
Stop waiting to be happy.
Stop waiting for your ship to come.
Stop waiting for somebody to save you.
Stop waiting for a mentor and go get them yourself.
Stop waiting for better friends to come into your life. Get them yourself.
Stop waiting to live the life you've always wanted. Get it yourself.

Stop chasing after girls whose looks promise heaven and deliver hell. Admit it, you're just horny and your balls are controlling your actions. Take control of your ridiculous urges bro.
That really hot girl you're with...she will steal your money and get a boob job with it. You'll have thoughts racing through your mind for weeks about how you want to sue her and make her life hell, but you won't end up doing it in the end because you're a nice guy at heart. You will be left bitter and confused for a while, but realize one day that all the bad stuff you went through was only meant to make you stronger....karma will actually get her back a few months later when her mom kicks her out of the house for being such a ridiculously selfish human being towards everyone.

When you approach a mentor, don't wait to take action on what they tell you to do. If you do that, you are an a**hole and are wasting his time.

Do not move to the dark side. They say nice guys finish last, but they usually finish with a sizable savings account and a good ladybird.

YOU CANNOT CHEAT THE GRIND SO STOP LOOKING FOR SHORTCUTS. Take action. Get the ice cream.

I'd say nothing. I'd say:

"Listen to @IceCreamKid, kiddo. He has already given all the important instructions you need to know."

I wonder what @IceCreamKid will say 7 years later.
Lol when I read some of my posts from 7 years ago I absolutely cringe. Lots of lessons learned in business and life over the years.

If there's any advice that I'd give to you guys, it's the following:
1. Be patient. Put in the time, sweat, and energy. Don't get suckered by those gurus promising you millions in a few months. Get tunnel vision and have one focus.

2. Get a job. Specifically a job that teaches you a high leverage skill i.e. sales.
True story. I took up a sales job in 2019 because I wanted to see how 8-figure deals are made. I worked for one of the top SaaS cyber-security companies in the world.

I got to witness a sales rep close a $51M deal with Bank of America. Every outreach email, every meeting, every quote negotiation, every presentation leading up to that $51M...I saw everything. There were moves that you'll never see in a forum or in a book. That was just one of many deals.

The company was later bought by Thoma Bravo for $13B

My pay in that role was peanuts, but the knowledge was worth millions. I know a lot of you look down upon people who get jobs, but I promise if you approach it strategically it will give you some insane skills that you can apply directly to business....AND YOU GET PAID TO LEARN THESE SKILLS. It's not fun starting a new business with zero capital and zero skills. Why not start with plenty of capital from your W-2 and a high leverage skill? This angle isn't for everyone, but I'm convinced it will help a lot of you.

I'm 26 year old, so what I would say to my 18 or 25 old self would be:

✅Read more - read biographies, business/marketing/motivational books
✅Learn a valuable skill that you can sell
✅Learn how the finance system works
✅Learn the tax law
✅There are no shortcuts - you just have to put the hard work. But hard work pays off. Always.
✅Limit the social media to the bare minimum. This thing is designed to keep you occupied and it changes your brain.

My comment is that hard work pays off IF you work smart. I know people who have worked hard all their lives and ended up with nothing in the end. They simply didn't know where to put their efforts... OR they didn't know how to hang on to what they have made. I have said before that most people must make their fortunes 3 times because -- they make it and then lose it the first two times around. That's a VERY long learning curve!
