Whether I wake up early in the morning or later on, usually during the day.
For some reason I can't function without breakfast and I cant sleep if I'm still pumped.

In my opinion nature intends for us to rise early and get to work.
but humans are so adaptable so who knows really.

Used to hit the gym during lunch time when I would go to the office, and that worked fine as well.

But I've just started a new challenge: waking up at 430AM and working out immediately after.

I'm on day 4 and feeling amazing. Working out in the morning definitely sets you up for success throughout the rest of the day.

And since we are at it, what time do you wake up?

Morning. Early exercise gets the gets the body moving (Circadian rhythm).

A good habit has been

breakfast -> early exercise (6-7 am) -> large meal -> salad/light meal -> no food 3-4 hours before bed.

Exercise needs calories/protein to recover, and so getting this done early in the day gives plenty of time for eating (and digesting) throughout the day. When working out at night I would either eat a big meal after and be unable to sleep, or not eat enough.

Morning, 6 am. Always stiffer in the morning but loosens you up for the rest of the day.

In the summertime, I'll pick a day to do a long walk with audiobooks but in all honesty, I think for minimum well being just 10 minutes of treadmill incline walking with 10-30 pushups is all I need.

Somewhere after 6PM, usually 7 or 8. I reward myself with a gym sesh after a productive day's work. If I don't get my shit done, I don't lift. Exercise is secondary to biz, although it's a close second.

Thankfully I can do most of my work from my phone, so I'm constantly replying/scheduling/communicating while at the gym.

I basically exercise whenever. Sometimes I like going early morning, middle of the day, sometimes I'll even go at midnight. Whatever I feel works for me at the time.

But I also don't have a "normal" sleep schedule, so I wouldn't necessarily recommend this for everyone.

I think so too, i'd say even we are made to rise with the sun and go to sleep when the sun disappears.

I'm not surprised, that is what navy seals do. Cold shower helps enormously too, a hot shower makes me depressed and lazy, cold showers pump me up

It's day-time, early evening for me.

I work on my main tasks from morning till the early daytime, and gym is my reward. I have tasks that must be done before I can go to gym, so I almost always get everything done as planned.

After gym I'm usually too hyped/tired to do anything serious, so I'm just doing some easy tasks or communicating with clients.

For me gym is the final essential task of the day.

These days I wake up between 5:30 and 6:30. I love getting up early as long as I get enough sleep.

I normally exercise around 11 am for an hour right before lunch. I work from home in the morning and afternoon, so it's a great way to break up the day and clear the mind. I also have lots of energy at that time, so that works out well too.

I used to work out at 5:30 am, which I enjoyed but I don't think it's ideal for me. It feels so good to get in a good workout before starting the day or doing any work. It puts you in a great mental state. I would get into work with tons of energy and ready to roll, while my coworkers were moping around waiting for the coffee machine. The only down side was I was always pretty sleepy at the beginning of the workout, so it suffered a little bit.

Usually wake up between 7 and 8.30am. I go working out (if there's no Corona) in my performance/concentration down times: somewhere between noon and 2pm. That is where I get most out of it + I can use the overflowing physical energy/ need to move and settle during the workout.

yup, i been struggling to rise early though cause ive been going to sleep past 3am for weeks.
even though it feels so wrong my, body adapted to staying up all night.

I guess that's the double edged sword of adaptation. u can get used to bad things.

I prefer to work out in the morning because i feel like the resistance from my brain is weaker than in the evening. It's a catch 22 though because i prefer working on my projects/business in the morning before work to and can only really fit one in so i often have to juggle the two. I'm up at 5(ish), leaving for work at 6.15 and start work at 7 am.

Personally, I workout in the morning at 7am while in Quarantine! I used to workout during the same time before. It helps burn fat and it uses fat for energy. But i tried to workout in the evening and nights. I tend to have more strength when I workout late during the day. But I'm sticking with the morning.

This has been exactly my experience.
although my lazy a$$ feels resistance to working no matter what time it is, i do feel more in control in the morning if i don't feel like total shit upon waking up.

I really think this is the way nature intended, this is how ancient civilization did it.
Ancient Greeks woke up early as F*ck, busted their a$$ until midday and only then maybe ate a bit and chilled, and dinner was the biggest meal of the day and party time lol
Ancient Romans did the same, they use to eat biggest meal at midday but it slowly got pushed further and further back into the evening.

Point is, it just makes sense to get up early, get all your work done, and chill the fuk out later.

This is the lifestyle im trying to adopt for the rest of my life, still on step 1 though lol, wake up no later than 8AM consistently.

In the early evening from 6.30 pm onwards. I would do 1 - 2 types of lifts (bench / shoulder press...), have my dinner, watch TV, come back later at 9 pm to do another 1 - 2 more types of isolation / finisher types (weighted neck flexion, bicep curls etc.), and by then, it would be 10pm. Then I go out to do pull-ups, and finish everything at 10.30pm. I like to take it slow and steady.

Yeah I wish I was one of those people that really look forward to working out, but I think I'm just not wired that way. So everytime I have to have this mental battle where I push through the resistance, if I do, it's a good day. If I don't, then my lizard brain has won.

I think it stems from not enjoying the activity, if we enjoy something then we can do it no matter if it hurts or whatever.

I asked my Kung Fu teacher who's this 60 year old super peaceful chinese dude that can still do flips and shit about how to get any kind of work done that you absolutely dread doing and feels like pulling teeth to get started.
He said you gotta learn to smile and enjoy your work, and enjoy life in general, he said you gotta twist it in your mind to go from "i hate this shit" to "i enjoy work, this is good, im like this"

easier said than done though lol

I mean its true though, probably people who consistently work out love the feeling of making a little bit of progress every day, knowing they're doing their body good and are slowly getting stronger and healthier.
but if it feels like a chore then you're forever fighting an uphill battle.

My sleep is too easily affected by exercise in the evening, so try and fo it earlier. Not a morning person though, but feels amazing to have it all done early on.

Moving to keto and one meal a day, at night, made things easier. Saves a lot of time and once used to keto, wasn't hungry through the day. Much prefer fasted workouts now. Don't know how good that would be if trying to build a lot of muscle though. Probably not great.

Yeah I believe everything in life is down to your mindset. If you can turn your mind into granite you can pretty much achieve anything. That's what I'd love to have. Everything else would come easier with that!

For nearly one year straight I worked out first thing in the morning, if I didn't I felt bad the whole day because I had the thought on the back of my mind, also since my lessons usually started at 9:15 I could easily squeeze in an hour of gym without ruining my sleep.
That said I think if you start working really early just go ASAP once you finish because if you leave it as the absolute last thing for the day you may be too tired to go.
