Hi fastlaners,

I've been lurking around, watching you all guys hustling in your projects and succeeding. When I don't lurk around, I develop a concept for a SaaS... Just a concept and I don't want to go much into detail. I would say that it's a Custom made Software as a Service (CmSaaS) :)

I think it's time to test the result of using this (Cm)SaaS and get more broad feedback.

Is one website that this (Cm)SaaS MVP manages that want to ask for feedback.

This niche website already has some users (interestingly, acquired using the (Cm)SaaS), not many but a few.

I'm looking for opinions about the concept for content creators (one of the users of the website).

Basically, the niche website managed by the (Cm)SaaS is a user-generated and profit sharing concept. It's kind of sweat equity :)

Content creators publishing content on the niche website will be rewarded with ad space. There's a review process involved. The ad space can be initially filled with affiliate partners from the website.

P.S. This is custom software I've been building.

P.P.S. Ahh, the website link... If anyone interested in providing feedback from the perspective of content creators, there's a link to the blog for content creators (managed by the SaaS) where you can learn more about the concept for content creators:

Link: https://guitarhertz.com/guitarhertz-authors-how-to

(sorry admins if I can't do that).

Please be patient with my super-extra-small machines :)

Thanks in advance,

joao

Hi Joao,

I am a copywriter and I took a quick look at your site. The first thing I saw was the popup, so I'll start there with some feedback.

The biggest thing you should change as soon as possible is the text at the bottom that says, "No, I'm ok. I don't want neither of that." This is incorrect English and will be a turnoff (especially since you are looking to attract writers). Here's a possible correction: "No, I'm ok. I don't want any of these benefits."

The second bit of feedback I'd offer is this: The popup doesn't identify WHAT this is or WHO it is for.

People don't sign up for something they don't understand. And this leaves a bunch of unanswered questions in my mind, such as...
  • If I was going to contribute, would I have to write about guitar stuff, or can I write about other topics?
  • Who is the audience that reads this site? (or at least the intended audience)
  • "You receive a share of advertisement profit" - this is a SUPER COOL CONCEPT as it allows the content to bring in passive income. I think that is a very attractive point. But it's also confusing. Because in your post above, you say, "Content creators publishing content on the niche website will be rewarded with ad space," so I assumed that this meant that I would get to place MY ad on the site and receive clicks back to my website. Is this not right? Is it just google adwords revenue that would get split? And (since people are skeptical) how does your content creator know if it's a good split? (Some people would be afraid that if they get a split, they'll get a 1% share or something.)
Oh - browsing your site further, I saw this version of the popup. MUCH better. Go with this.

I'd also create a page with a detailed breakdown of how it all works for the people who like to process and absorb all the details and feel really comfortable about it before pulling the trigger.

The last comment I'll make is that it looks like your copy throughout the site was written by a non-native English speaker. You might want to hire someone to clean that up.

I think popups generally work, even though people hate them... but it's something to test (try a split test with one version of the site that shows popups and one version that doesn't, or try one month with popups on and one month with popups off if a split test is problematic to implement).

Bekit, that's brilliant feedback. Thanks a lot. Yes, it's easy to figure out that English isn't my native language. Also, I've been writing code for half of my life, even in my native language my writing sucks :)

I understand that a lot of things are not very clear. Will do meanwhile an FAQ page to answer those questions. About the split percentage, currently is 75%, i.e., when a piece of content is displayed, 75% of the time the ad space is for the content creator. I will take your unanswered questions and start an FAQ.

Sadly, my English kind of sucks and I do not get motivated to write copy, I always find a way to write some code instead :)

Aaawwww, I thought you was going to say that Google doesn't even like pop ups so get rid of it. :)

I see.... when requests arrive from BOTs, they don't get the popups, or any ads for that matter. I know that some BOTs use real browser User Agent, like it's a real user. Currently, Google isn't my user anyway. I've made some optimizations for SEO but not much yet TBH. Current popups brought around 95% of users until now...
Do you have any feedback on the concept? Thanks a lot

Ill just start with the first 4 seconds...

Your main headline says, "Learn How to Write for Guitar Hertz"

Your most expensive piece of real estate is wasted with a non-starting, non-motivating headline.

Why would anyone care about writing for Guitar Hertz?

Why would I want to learn? That sounds like work. I don't visit websites to increase my work load.

You won't have a chance until you figure out a hook that compels people to join versus compels people to click back.

What compels me to join your website?

Learn how to write for our website.
(Nay, Ill pass.)

or

Turn your passion for guitar into cash.
(Oh, what's this about?)
