Hey,
My name is Davis. I'm an aspiring entrepreneur. Just a little background on me I'm from Atlanta, I love business, and I've been developing myself seriously for a few years now. I feel like I'm more of an artist than an Entrepreneur at times, meaning I love creating and making new things and trying whatever interests me. I just haven't been able to make anything into a Fastlane vehicle yet. That's why I'm here right? As for the title; the question that I'm trying to answer is something simple. What is an app, or a service, or a plugin etc that I can get 3,000 people to download and pay me 5$ a month for? I've tried a few different business ideas but I think that this is the path that will make the most sense for me. I want to create something very simple and valuable that people don't need to think twice about paying for. I've seen businesses like grammarly and other plugins take off and it's inspiring. I understand Grammarly has gone through 8 years of growth to reach the point where it's at. But what I'm looking to do before trying to grow a multi-million dollar business is to create a simple fast lane tool that can give me a stable income and allow me to explore the digital nomad lifestyle. I've got an idea that Im putting through an MVP atm; not sure if this is the thread to ask for feedback on it. Either way I know that this community is full of people who are trying to change their lives and I'd love to connect and provide value where I can. I guess from here I'd like to ask: Does anyone resonate with my vision? And if so have you done it/ have any advice? // Is anyone open to being a part of my MVP program? Im looking for anyone interested in increasing their awareness of their thoughts and emotions.

Does anyone resonate with my vision?

You mean you want fast, easy success without the grinding effort?

Yea, that will resonate with everyone.

I understand Grammarly has gone through 8 years of growth to reach the point where it's at.

I want to create something very simple and valuable

If it's very simple it won't be valuable.

You're looking for a unicorn.

Your statement is like saying, "Hey guys, is there a pill that can make me buff and cover-model worthy in a matter of weeks? Where is it? Does this pill resonate with you guys?"

Do the work and stop looking for the shortcuts.

Grammarly got it's huge success after they were able to convey their cool/ simple ads through youtube etc. They just bombarded me with those meaningful ads. There are still bugs in it and always will be , free version is also quite attractive and picks up mistakes made by us.

If you can why not just copy grammarly and start giving out free subscriptions. There aren't many popular service like that out there and in developing countries people are emerging out as bloggers , publishers but not many know about grammarly.

Yes, I have a suggestion for you Davis, how about WORK YOUR a$$ OFF.

Do you really think if anybody in the world had an app which can be set up in minutes and generate $5/month per customer AND it's something valuable that most people wouldn't think twice of downloading would just simply hand it to you?

This is utterly delusional and borderline offensive.

To begin with, you are focusing on the wrong aspects. That is, what you can get out of the market (e.g money). Stop being egocentric and see what you can offer the market that nobody else cannot. How do I know that you're thinking selfishly?

I've been

Notice anything wrong with your post? Oh and by the way,
I'm from Atlanta, I love business
Let me just quickly write you a check because apparently you love business.

NOBODY CARES

If you want some proper advice and guidance then instead of browsing the internet asking for easy shortcuts to wealth as a self proclaimed
aspiring entrepreneur

Then, start by reading the books written by @MJ DeMarco.

Despite my short rant, the fact that you are here shows that you are indeed motivated to get into the Fastlane. However, be informed that this is not the path of least resistance. As you've already been informed:
You're looking for a unicorn.

Consider yourself warned.

I plan to do the F*cking work and Im not looking for damn shortcuts. Your limo website was an easy concept that was valuable was it not? I'm not saying I dont plan to work. I didn't think everyone would come out guns blazing over me introducing what I would like to do.

Dude there is no need to be a complete jackass. I never said I want a shortcut. I just said that my goal is to have a simple idea that provides enough value I can get people to pay me 5$ a month for. Good stuff quoting all the pronouns I use for an INTRODUCTION post.

Dude, legendary post.

Welcome to the forum.

Your limo website was an easy concept

Ha Ha, yea, it was easy! I just downloaded Wordpress and BOOM! Six-figures a month!

Likewise with this forum, I just downloaded the forum software, and BOOM! Thousands of users!

Profitable option business? I spent 3 hours reading a book and BOOM! 3% monthly!

Writing 2 best-selling books? I just wrote for 2 days, put it up on Amazon and BOOM! Millions of readers!

The comment element in all these cash cows?

It was easy!!

I just said that my goal is to have a simple idea that provides enough value

Wow, you just don't get it.

Simple doesn't solve complex problems. Hence, it doesn't provide value.

Here you go:

thelastunicornmovie1.jpg

Add in the fact that you think we're just being dicks and we have nothing better to do.

You don't even realize we're trying to help you.

I didn't think everyone would come out guns blazing over me introducing what I would like to do.

Because what "you'd like to do" is a pipe dream.

Around here we call it entrepreneurial welfare.

Little effort, easy, and boom, massive profits.

Easy and entrepreneurship doesn't belong in the same sentence, much less the thread.

Aside from that, welcome to the forum.

Hopefully we can steer you toward a more reality based approach.

That's a good point. But from what I've read about grammarly their algorithm is pretty intense. I dont think I'm ready to get into the copy and catch up game just yet haha.

Im looking for anyone interested in increasing their awareness of their thoughts and emotions.

@KingCarbo First....welcome to the forum sir. I hope you find value in what all of the members are telling you. It really is priceless. Try to accept the criticism without being offended. If you are truly interested in building value you will take it to heart and understand the message despite the delivery.

Second...as a newbie myself I completely understand the desire to ask for feedback and hope for affirmation to your goals or plans. What I have learned by reading both of MJ's books and a countless number of threads on this forum is that it's your destiny and nobody here is going to have the answer for how to reach it. You ask if anyone resonates with your vision. We can't. It's your vision. And the problem most have with your post is you don't really share much of a vision.

Your post comes across as someone who is chasing money rather than looking to build a business of value. You talk about people paying you money so you can live the digital nomad lifestyle. Those are events, not process. The true, serious entrepreneurs on this forum are happy to share information about process, about value, about overcoming specific obstacles. But talking about crossing the finish line without training for the race is why you're getting the negative feedback.

My suggestion, if you are serious, is to write your goals down based on your internal vision of your life and real goals like "a business doing X that generates X dollars in revenue and/or profit by X date. Not have people pay me $5 per month for a simple idea. Two people paying you $5 per month for a simple idea won't add up to what it seems you are looking for. Then flesh out the details and steps you are going to do to reach that goal. Then ask the forum for feedback on your process. Avoid discussions about a digital nomad lifestyle....

I'm 22 and trying to answer a very important question

So you got your answer....

But you didn't even bother THANKING anyone that helped you.

I can't fathom being 22 years old in college and getting uncensored advice from a couple of multi-millionairess and just walking away without a mere thanks, or in this case, a clicking of a button.

But I'm gonna guess it wasn't the answer you wanted.

So you will continue searching until you hear what you want to hear...

But I'll save you the search...

You'll find your answer in any guru program out there. Pick any one because any one of them will tell you what you want to hear. But please, make sure they guru program is at least $3,997. At that price, they'll tell you the sky is purple and that the earth is flat.

And then you'll have the simple, easy plan that will put you on the beach awash in passive income.

Short? Okay then. Please don't ever write a long rant.

Short, long, I appreciated it!

 This forum is going to turn me into an arse really fast.

@KingCarbo - I get why you felt like the forum came out guns blazing but let me put this into perspective:

These are people running multi-million dollar businesses... how many people do you think come their way saying "hey I wanna figure out the next big idea, what do you guys think? How do I do it?" Ain't nobody got time for that, everybody be minding their own business, literally. There is a an actual TV show of people who try for years to get in front of these people. This forum has made it easy. And they're actually even more ruthless on TV.

It may not seem like it but they're helping you. Here's my cold, hard advice:
  • Don't ask questions the forum has already answered.
  • Read the forums. Find MJ's video on how to find an idea.
  • Come up with a plan of action and follow it. Read progress threads to learn how others did it.
  • Your product needs to solve a problem.. and the problem needs to be bad enough that I'd shell out $5.
  • If your product is simple enough I could go on Fiverr and get it done, it sucks.
  • Do you, then post about it here. That's where you'll get the raw feedback you want.
  • Above all, maybe not your intention, I do agree you come across a bit self absorbed. Take this at face value, you need to stop looking at this from a dollar sign perspective... it's not about how much you make, it's about how much your product or service benefits others.
And read MJ's books. You'll never sleep the same way again.

Well, I think it's time to put things into perspective.

The op didn't deserve to have his arse handed to him on a silver platter. Pretty damn harsh here, for some of the replies. Being that I have three adult sons, I have lived this "stage of discovery" that they have gone through. There's a word for it: naive.

He's only naive. Obviously oblivious to what he is asking, and that's kind of amusing, in its own right.

Granted, he's nowhere near to be on par with the experienced players here. Now he knows that, clearly. And probably has a bad taste in his mouth for it too.

I was once in his position in life. Naive, curious, and full of ambition. Not too much wisdom - that much was obvious to everyone. We've ALL been there. Because I remember being there, I remember how my eyes were gradually opened to the true ways of the world, and learning that success would not so easily obtained as I had hoped. Probably too much indoctrination from schooling. I had to get that out of my system first.

With that being said - I can now stand toe to toe with many here. And I don't like the presumptuous and pompous attitudes that have been displayed. Macho much? I've yet to meet the person that is on top of the world to such a degree that there is nobody to look up to. Maybe Warren Buffet can say that - is that you Warren? If your initials are not WB, then you're not King Kong. Sorry. Get used to it.

A little understanding and kindness goes a long long way. It's called class.

Don't like me now? Fine. I, unlike the naive beginner I once was, can take it. Flame me if that makes you feel entitled and superior. Or look in the mirror instead and if you don't like everything you see, then do something about it. Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life.

I appreciate this post a lot. I'd love to connect. Class can go a long way and I hope to show you and whoever else sees this that I'm here to learn and grow. My intro was naive, and not thought out. I actually wrote it before class and didn't realize the responses it would get. I really have only ever posted on reddit and I think I got maybe 3 responses total haha. Looking back at it I'm glad that I posted it. It introduced me to some people who probably wouldn't be my first choice to learn from while also introducing me to potential friends. Looking forward to this forum and it's potential.

You don't even realize we're trying to help you.

I appreciate your feedback. I never meant to say that you've had it easy. Just tried to relate a little bit.

Hi Davis, welcome on the forums!
What business ideas have you tried yet ?

Hey, Thanks for the response!
I was an amazon seller for a little while during my second year at school. It eventually didn't workout for a couple reasons I can probably find answers to in this forum.
The other ventures were more projects than actual concrete businesses. Websites, blogs, shopify dropshipping, physical product creation, branding and some other stuff here and there. I look at it all as feedback and experience! I learned a lot each time but I realized I need a concrete plan so that's why I'm here, to learn from you fine people.

You gotta be kidding me. This is a joke right?

Did you read Unscripted or Fastlane?

How can you expect to get an idea off of a forum on command, and make millions and retire? SMH!

I understand what you're trying to do, you're trying to bring a realistic approach to Entrepreneurship. But what I hope you realize from my response is that teaching and mocking/scolding are two different things. I came here for constructive feedback, and I've bee met with you being rude. Of course I have things to learn, all Im saying is from a student's perspective you're already proving that yo

Nobody needs to be mocked or scolded. I too went through that when I was around your age. Some people thought I'd never amount to anything. And I certainly would never measure up to the lofty levels of success that they obtained. I brushed all of that off. Who cares what peons think? The best revenge is to say nothing - and prove them wrong. Make them eat their words. But never bring it up to them. Your results will speak volumes, all by themselves. Let them just stand there looking stupid. How they feel inside is much worse than anything you could say to them.

I appreciate it man! I'll get the hang of it eventually

Good job. Stay focused. No need for false pride. You, and everyone else, knows you have a lot to learn and not much experience. No shame at all in that. Everyone crawls before they walk.

Class can go a long way and I hope to show you and whoever else sees this that I'm here to learn and grow. My intro was naive, and not thought out.

That comment is a true show of class. Well done.

Honestly I'm a proud person and needed a little time to regain some composure so I wouldnt get back on here mad. I've found that speaking out of anger isn't wise.

Honesty too. It's hard to find fault with an honest man. Whatever you lack in knowledge and skills can be gained along the way. Character weakness, however, is usually a flaw that stays a long time.

The other ventures were more projects than actual concrete businesses. Websites, blogs, shopify dropshipping, physical product creation, branding and some other stuff here and there.

I know you're way ahead of a lot of people here already. A few of the things you mentioned I am in the process of learning right now. Give yourself time. In five years you might be a super hero. Bill Gates was smart way before he was rich. Funny how things work like that.

After an enjoyable lunch, he would try to have you pick up the tab.

Then he would ask you if you knew who I am, and had my phone number, and if you did, he'd call me.

Such a simple question. You're an addict of the TV show "Apprentice" I bet.

Think things out a bit more and at least make it difficult.
