i need some opinions.

uk christmas card market it is 1 billion cards sold each year and growing

- 900 million cards are sold in sets
- average pack size = 10
- so this means around 90 million christmas card sets are sold each year
- 65 million people live in uk (1.5 sets each)
- if i create a good quality card and market it via leaflets (100,000 leaflets) what response rate do you think i would get?

Why should I buy your cards? What makes them different?

market for christmas cards? YES
using leaflets to market them? good god. no. just..no

just an idea here
market using children as your sales people to raise money for their school. like those popcorn sales or girl scout cookies. sure, you split the profits but its for a good cause and there is no need to be a greedy bastard. youll still be a bastard tho because you use child labor but hey, its also possible to do it and come out looking like princess di

@Puppy is right. no on the leaflets.

better to place a bunch of empty envelopes that say "Merry Xmas" on people's mailboxes, with a tiny piece of paper on the inside that says, "Sucks to not get a xmas card, doesn't it?" *url*

url options: cardsforchristmas.com
or you could go with pleasespendyourmoneyhere.com, makemyxmas.com, suckithallmark.com

i kinda like suckithallmark.com. but idk is an online business the way to go with greeting cards? funny thing, years ago i thought there needed to be breakup/i hate you greeting cards. i planned it all out. and then took no action. i still think its viable if someone took it and ran with it

I don't think anyone can really say "don't get in to the card space", it's tough don't get me wrong. If you do get in to it, expand your horizons and hit all category's/events/celebrations, don't just focus on Christmas where you get sales for 1-2 months out of year, sell cards all year round. Focus on ecomm and Amazon. I actually paid $12 for a bday card in the summer on Amazon with prime next day shipping bc I was so busy and lazy to go to Hallmark to buy one.

i would never think to buy cards online because i am not a greeting card user/buyer. if i need one i go to the store. after asking that question i got thinking about it and yes, online business is a good way to go.

to be fair if judas didnt sell out jesus then he wouldnt have gotten nailed up and we wouldnt even have christmas. i feel bad for the guy, everyone hates him but he was a KEY player to make the whole thing work out. i hate you xmas card - outside: merry christmas [traditional/minimalist art] inside: i wanted to give you a dead rat but the mrs said i had to be nice so heres a nice card to tell you how i feel

What about Christmas/holiday cards for atheists?

That's gotta be a Million dollar idea right there.

lol i prefer meanness to at least hold on to the spirit of fun. mean = ok hatefull = not ok. overall tho i would just be confused if i got your card because i see judas different than most so i dont 'get it'. im pretty sure everyone else gets it so it works as intended. that idea could be so much fun. drat dont get me all distracted chasing that one again:)

better be sure they are indeed atheist, or you might have some issues there XD

Believe me, I know who my atheist friends are.

Many athiests' favorite hobby is telling everyone how atheist they are.

It's only a funny gag, if everyone knows that that person is overtly atheist. It'd be downright awkward if you made someone come out of the atheist closet in front of everyone.

I actually don't think so - If you make cards that aren't crazy hardcore (like the one with all the people drowning), but just snarky, I think you could sell them to both people buying for atheists, and atheists looking to send a barb to their friends.

ahh yes, the [in]famous proselytizer types. to be fair, I'm sure you've got friends on both sides who don't proselytize. how about a card for them at Xmas?

Outside: Happy Holidays!
