Possible to have multiple biggest lies?
  • The check is in the mail.
  • I'm asking cause we're friends.
  • I'm not pre-selling, I already have the stock.
  • He's just a friend.
  • You know I've got no interest in taking your job.

Lies, lies, lies everywhere...
  • There are no absolutes in philosophy, everyone is right
  • Money is the root of all evil
  • Selfish desire is evil, the ego is evil
  • The last two philosophical truths are always true, regardless of the first rule
Honourable mentions include:
  • He's just a friend/I have a boyfriend
  • Everyone's opinion is important

" you are not here to be a stupid nice guy, you are here to conquer "

I think this is what Trump lives by.

I'm a huge fan that the "biggest lies" we ingest came from our childhood upbringing, especially school.

So called "Social roles", "False personalities", "False social expectations".

Think about it.

You sit at a desk for 12 years basically being told that you know nothing and that the only way to know something is being taught that thing. Instead of creating something new with your mind and finding true self-esteem.

The result? 95% of people become sleepwalkers so to speak. Never really finding their true capacities because of how powerful this social conditioning is.

So true.

My kids get excited for Friday. Why? Because no school on the weekends.

Then I go to my retail locations and hear all day from customers how they are excited cause it's Friday. Why? Because there is no work on weekends. (for them)

The slowlane indoctrination (lie) starts early.

I just realized some intriguing ideas while reading through this thread...

The reason that so many of people stick to unsatisfying lives, working jobs they don't care about, is because as a kid they were told they couldn't do/be/become something. But the worst part, is that the people telling them are relatives. Who are bitter and unsatisfied with their own lives and recruiting someone else into their unhappy life.

When I am a parent, I want to foster independence and growth, not limit my children. Why teach them to be mediocre?

Maybe people born into wealth are able to be successful because they aren't given such limiting beliefs on what they can do...

On the other hand: The same people to call bullshit are the same ones to think different and create something great.

- 7th grade math teacher

After that, I proceeded to get a large amount of diplomas in programming stuff, start up a few of my own businesses (and make consistent income with them) and work from home.

If I believe it, I will achieve it.

If someone else can do it, I can (that someone else was Metallica).

That's ironic coming from a junior high math teacher. Unpopular opinion... I hate most of the school teachers I have added on FB and some of the ones I had growing up. Most of the ones I know always blame someone else for their life problems and complain about how much money they don't make. I always think to myself, "Why'd you get a degree in Pre-K Education if all you're gonna do is complain about making 45k/year with health insurance, retirement, and summers/weekends off?"

The answer to that is the biggest lie I believed for most of my life...

Follow your passion.

My old high school math teacher used to teach by this motto: "No such thing as a bad math student... only bad math teachers." He measured his success by how many of his "bad" math students went on to ace math.

This is no lie. It's the straightest path to operating leverage after COGS control.

Focusing on keeping costs down and cutting overheads is what kept me from focusing on increasing profits.

Its a lie I told myself...

And I blame myself for that.

Penny wise and pound foolish. That makes sense.

EDIT: I'm assuming that by "increasing profits" you meant "increasing sales". That's the only way that the opportunity cost of focusing on cost cutting leads to less overall profit.

biggest lie was that I couldnt change the world or change the 'system" whatever that may be. I am driven to change my industry. At first i believed the lie that college was the only way to go, however I deviated from that and found some success without it; however the industry that I have chosen requires up to date certification and continuing education which I AM OK with. 100% however, playing by the rules is by far the biggest load of excrement i have been lectured on time and time again;
