LOL. Another bullshit cliche quote is: "It's not what you know its who you know".

Really? Like what I have to offer in terms of intellect is garbage and irrelevant? :smilielol:

The reality is that it just depends, but most its BOTH what you know and who.

Just saw this! I've never heard this in terms of reasons for success, only excuses for lack of success.

Also... the "contacts" they strive for are only made when you have something to offer... contacts that are forged based on what you know.

I'm asking you about it because it's really interesting for me how you found/figured it out. No sarcasm and I'm not kidding.

I don't consider that living forever, but... a lot of theorists are predicting we will have cellular replication and telomere length problems sorted out within the next hundred years, allowing us to at least live 1000 years. There's a good chance that all of us in our 20's may live to be 1000.

"All men are created equal"
"Justice is blind"
"College is necessary for success"
"That guy is weird." (said as if it's a bad thing. please)
"Money is the root of all evil"
"Security is more important than freedom"

I could go on and on...

George Carlin once said: "You know why they call it the American dream? Because you have to be asleep to believe it."

The path to success is in looking at how the average person thinks and behaves, and do the opposite.

Watch closely and you see it in the news more and more. People are being revived not just minutes, but hours or more after death. Our technology is getting better and the length of time is expanding.

There are of course no guarantees, but instead of leaving it to fate I'll do whatever I can to either avoid death or at least have a chance at coming back after death. Right now that comes in the form of cryogenic preservation. I suspect something better will come along in the future.

It isn't just the crazies working on this stuff anymore. :)

That going straight to college from high school is the best way to do it. I'm convinced now that an 18 year old needs to learn how to be independent before he even thinks about putting 4 years of his life into something like that.

In a similar vein, that you need college to be successful. Bull-F*ckin-shit.

That you shouldn't get a job before college. Getting a job is one of the best things a kid can do for himself. Why? Cuz it teaches you how much it sucks to rely on trading time for money.

That you should 'pay your dues' before starting a business. In this case, 'pay your dues' wasn't meant as 'find a mentor, eat shit for a year and have him give you some golden nuggets', but instead meant as 'work in a job for 10 years then start a business'. Most jobs won't adequately give you business perspective.

My parents said all these things to me. Smh

Pretty much everything I have experienced has been a lie. The reason being is its not what I want. What I want and believe is true and nobody lives it, therefore all paths in my vision are a lie and a deviation from my truth.

Go to school.
Go to school.
Go to school.
Go to school.
Go to school.
Go to school.
Go to school.

My dad dropped out at 15 to help out his single mother of 3. They were dirt poor and he finally went back to graduate at 21.
From high school.
Let's just say school hasn't helped him much

I did the same exact thing as him... with a different fire in my heart and eyes.

"Everyone hates their job/boss" - What if you don't have a job or a boss?

"Starting your own business is too risky" - What if employment in this day and age is the riskier proposition?

"Drugs are bad" - What if medicinal cannabis has potent anti-inflammatory effects and can cure illness? What if psilocybin mushrooms are one of the best cures for cluster headaches? What if some of the crap big pharma pushes upon us is far more dangerous than natural alternatives found here on God's green earth?

The food pyramid - Complete BS pushed on the public from big Ag and dairy. The food pyramid leads to disease and death.

Totally agree with this. A lot of beliefs I was raised with turned out to be a lie - at least because they proved quite untrue for me, once I decided to test them out.

As Marcus Aurelius said, "Everything we hear is an opinion...Everything we see is a perspective." Whatever anyone tells us might be truth for them, but it's up to each of us to make sure we don't adopt anyone else's truth as our own without examination and trial.

One of the most helpful realizations I've had in my "adulthood" was understanding that everyone speaks from the place of their own truth. And truth is a not a fixed concept.

I still get told silly things by people I care about:
"Work on building up your resume so you can be secure later on."
"You'll feel more secure once you buy a house."

...and the silliest of them all come from a source I love dearly - my mom:
"Work hard and listen to those 'above' you." - Seriously?!
"Your 'life' won't matter so much to you once you meet a man you love." -WHAAA?!
"Life isn't supposed to be fun." - Then what's the point of this whole life thing?!

It helps to take a few deep breaths and then carry on with what you were doing.

"Getting rich takes too much sacrifice."-My Father

Bro, you know what's a sacrifice to me?
  • going to work scared because you might get laid off
  • waking up in a bad mood because you know you have to get stuck in rush hour traffic to get to the cubicle which you hate so much
  • going home in a bad mood because your boss secretly hates you and won't give you that raise you totally deserve
  • handing your financial future to a plan of hope: hope my 401k doesn't drop, hope my house doesn't lose its value, hope my boss doesn't fire me. So much stress comes from having a lack of control over your destiny.
  • feeling like shit because you didn't pursue your dreams
  • giving 30 years of your life to a company, only to have them outsource your job to China
  • not having the freedom to spend quality time with those you love because you spend 60-80 hours at a job you hate. I live in the Bay Area where 40 hours a week would be a dream for many. The standard here is 45-80 hours.
Don't get me wrong, you have to work your a$$ off to build a business, but to me that's a small sacrifice to pay compared to what the 9-5ers have to pay.

Luckily I've always been a complete a**hole of a skeptic, questioning everything my supposed authority figures tried to impress onto me. It got me in a lot of trouble, but it's also been the key to my freedom.

If I believed anything though, it's that your friends will always want the best for you. And yet some of my closest mates have been the biggest haters. You gotta be careful, and really take care to tune out the negative chatter. Keep hustlin'
