Maybe also add some sunlight/vit d?

I had the worst colds when I was in Seattle. Even though I was taking 5-10k IU pills of vitamin D a day, my recovery was poor. I've stopped taking them for 3 years since moving in sunny FL and my mood is overall better and recovery a lot better. I blame the sunlight but I could also be making it up. Have only been sick a few times since, vs. being sick multiple times a year in Seattle.

I read somewhere that the vitamin D tablets are not the same as being in the sun so I would say this experience is true

I had the same when I moved from NZ to Australia

There’s a whole thread on the forum about it

despite all the bizarre problems in this country, I wouldn't want to have been born in any other place or any other time. Happy 4th everyone.

If you like specialized military training videos, check out this Army Jungle School video. I worked off the base in Hawaii this school is connected with and the soldiers who went through it were true hardcore players. The interesting part its not a yell in face try to mentally and physically breakdown type of school, the jungle is so unforgiving that takes care of it and let the students thrive as professionals and GFTO if cant hit the benchmarks.

Has anyone checked out Threads yet?

Edit: I just checked it out and it's a very clean UI and not too distracting compared to Twitter. It's still in beta, but it looks promising!

A reminder to be grateful for your loved ones and your own life...

I was at the cemetery today, bringing some flowers to the grave of a girlfriend's friend's father (who died unexpectedly last year). As we parked, a man in his late thirties with a daughter maybe 7-8 years old arrived at the parking lot as well.

We walked to the grave and placed the flowers. Soon, the man and his daughter stopped right behind us, on a recent grave without a tombstone yet placed (usually it takes a few months to get it made and have it installed).

The little girl started raking the area around the grave while her father held a candle.

"Looks like someone raked it already," the man said.
"Yes, mom had many friends," the little girl replied, in that strange, prideful and almost cheerful voice only a kid hiding grief deep inside can muster.

As we were leaving, I glanced at the temporary metal plate marking the grave.

The woman was 37 years old when she died.

I don't know the reason of her death. But at this age, it's almost safe to say that a year before, it was probably a regular family. Perhaps they were planning a summer trip, saving money for a new house, or maybe wanted to do something fun with grandparents. Now it's all gone. The man is a single father bringing his daughter to rake the grave of her mother and light some candles.

Take a moment to appreciate your loved ones. Take a moment to appreciate that you're alive. There's always a lot you can worry about but the truth is that if you're alive and healthy (and bonus points if your loved ones are alive and healthy), life's good already.

A solemn reminder we're all headed to the same place, and we don't know when. Two years ago, when I first started the gym, a big guy in his fifties showed me ropes & encouraged me.

I met him again yesterday.

Come to find out, his wife passed away at 51, about eight weeks ago.

Tomorrow isn't guaranteed.

I'm glad that I decided to learn Figma. I had a basic site/app prototype that I was coding by hand and learning just a bit of Figma is going to make it a lot easier to experiment and lay something out visually appealing before I jump to code. Trying to get as much done as I can before I go on vacation.

So true @MTF. Every day I'm grateful to be alive. Five years ago, this week my girlfriend send me to the doctor to look at a birthmark on my back between my shoulders. Long story short, skin cancer, surgery in four places, and recovery. The doctor told me, if I was a year later I would've been gone. Then I wouldn't have lived to see 25. Live is precious. Take care of yourself and your loved ones around you.

Thanks for the post!

So true... I always feel like I'm not spending enough time with loved ones or doing enough. I'm sure plenty of you guys feel the same? Life is so short.

My parents and grandparents (lucky they are still alive). I call weekly and visit monthly.
My inner-circle I spent time with at least once a quarter, call monthly.
What are you doing at the moment? When do you feel as if you spend enough time with your loved ones?
What can you execute right now? :praise:

A Twitter alternative is a good idea, but I will never use Threads because I despise Mark Zuckerberg.

I expect a 3rd Twitter alternative to eventually appear, one backed by a consortium of big companies. If Apple, Microsoft, Google, Disney, and Sony each chipped in some money, they could probably make a platform they were comfortable on. It could be censored more than Twitter, but would not have the stigma of being associated with Facebook.

12 hour workday baking several pounds of cookies in 32°Celsius. The rings under my eyes are hopefully not too visible haha.

Gotta get up in 6 hours to set up the store before the market starts. I look forward to doing this several times a week haha. (I designed that banner/table cover btw)

You just described Threads. It's basically a mainstream establishment platform (just like FB is/was) to push corporate and government agendas -- anything else will be subject to heavy-handed censorship according to Zuckerburg approved "fact-checkers".

Exactly. I don't want anything to do with another Zuck product where I am the product.

I saw possibly the dumbest headline yet. “Taylor Swift could save US from recession” or something to that effect. Am I wrong? Does it matter where GDP comes from - a pop concert tour versus, I dunno, farms making food that people eat? I know these concerts require a lot of different businesses and supply chains but will they REALLY help the economy as much as they say?

Might be a good episode @Kak. I might be really biased here and maybe Tay Sway is the ultimate capitalist.

Taylor Swift is earning $10 million a night with her tour.

Has anyone ever made that much money that fast (without investing in the stock market)?
