Okay, so this might sound obvious, but I'm having very conflicting thoughts about this, being a native Californian. I have family members I'm reaching out that's from nearby states. But then I heard that alot of Californian Exodus that stills vote the same party(try not to put politics) and that houses are going high, some bring their attitude towards the other states(still in the process of finding a "specialized skill"). Idk my guess is that California would finally find a better direction. Idk what's you're thoughts of this.

Ps; I'll edit out the political stuffs.

The question is personal, and hence so is the answer.

Lots of money in California. Also lots of taxes and authoritarianism.

Depends on what's important to you, like quality of life, taxes, intangibles, etc.

So, what's important to you?

More like it's about decision-making. Demarco talks about it in the TMFL Book

Chapter 24: Wipe your Windshield Clean
Topic: The Weighted Average Decision Matrix (WADM)

Read it, review it and apply it in your situation.

Think about what's most important to you - and make your decisions based on that.

Every state and country has it's pros and cons. There is NOT a one-size-fits-all solution for anybody. Many people know many times what pulls them one direction or another.

GO where you will be happiest, accomplish your goals and believe you can live a fulfilling life.

I personally moved from a COLD, GREY, SNOWY midwest city to Arizona, and that has been one of my best decisions of my life so far. I couldn't take it any longer and my wellbeing and outlook on life improved significantly once I made this change. I based my decision at the time around WEATHER.

Now if I was to move again, I might have a different reason that pulls me stronger (schools, politics, taxes, housting prices, business and family environment, etc) then weather alone. Figure out whats most important to YOU!

Yeah, I'm dependent as we're speaking. But Low taxes, freedom and safety is very important to me.

Ig I got myself convinced that Californians exodus might turn other states just as bad, and that it will be just as bad.

California is the size of a small country, and has one of the largest economies in the world - which means there's plenty of opportunity. But there's lots of reasons that lots of people are moving - why are you considering it?

I am considering leaving Oregon after 30 years, and it's a difficult decision - not 'should I go?' but 'where'. Because it's better to move toward something good rather than away from something bad.
The Heath brothers book Decisive has been invaluable to making that first 'should I?' decision. Check out their WRAP method. It's significantly more robust than the usual pros and cons.

I have a spreadsheet and links to aid in the 'where to?' decision. It's very simple: name your top qualifiers, put them in priority order, and start researching. Do a few field trips (we decided in 10 minutes that Twin Falls was not for us, even though it came up aces on paper). Narrow it down, start talking to people. I'm still in the research phase, but I should have a top 5 county list in the next week.

If the political aspect is vital to your future, then yes, absolutely put that as one of your qualifiers - just get super specific. Like, how did that state vote on a key issue that is part of your daily life? Which way is their legislature headed? etc.

I'm dependent, so I can't really say but safety is my biggest concern. Specifically for my mom and my siblings.
I'm not sure what you mean by that? Do you mean that you don't work?

Are you saying that you live in a bad neighborhood right now? If so, you don't need to move out of the state. It can just be somewhere else in the city right?

Yeah by dependent that I don't have a job.

Also I don't live in a bad neighborhood. It's pretty decent, just that the city i live, there's more homelessness and some streets looks pretty dangerous to be around.

I think biophase was asking some good questions. It honestly sounds like you're focusing on things that don't really have that much of a direct impact on you currently. There are other cities to move to with less homelessness and safer looking streets if that's an issue. (There are also dangerous cities in almost every state.) And you're not working so taxes don't really impact you. That's not to say that you shouldn't move out of California, but you should do so for the right reasons, not because of ideas you might see on certain YouTube channels on major news networks. There is opportunity everywhere, especially in areas and places where others are fearful.

You main focus should be on developing your specialized skill, or running experiments to help you figure out what skill you might want to develop. Do you think leaving California would make that any easier for you?

So is your goal to get a job in another state and the move out? Or are you trying to have your mom get another job and then move everyone to another state?

I just don't understand your concern. You aren't paying any taxes. Your home is fine. There is homelessness in every city. What type of freedom don't you have in Cali that you would have in another state?

No, from Mat79 comment, i got so into media that i was thinking how bad is California. Also I'm getting ahead of myself thinking about thinks that doesn't exist. While I have no job.

I guess don't have any.

I guess that what I want don't have anything bad here in California. But what I should've focus is to find a job for myself.

Sorry for my ridiculous response, sometimes i have a bad habit of overthinking everything and not thinking about the reality.

You're paying no taxes, with no job, and living with your parents. Sounds like California is the perfect place for you.

If you want to move, then you'll have to man up: Get a job, pay rent, and start paying taxes. Until then, you're really asking us what color Ferrari you should buy when you "get rich". Or, do something meaningful in CALI then you can entertain an exit.

I just saw this the other day. I'm not in California but it may be useful to you.

Incredibly powerful, and quite factual. But it will indeed trigger people in Cali. Unless you're a startup founder, a CEO, or an athlete, most people have ZERO chance at any upward mobility in that state. You need to earn $720,000 a year so you can afford a 2,000 square foot dump? For F*ck's sake, no crowded beach rife with homelessness and beggars is worth that.
