Created my gig at Fiverr, but haven't sold anything

Anything considered a "hustle" and not necessarily a CENTS-based Fastlane

Hi guys!

I created a project months ago in which I do translation services in different languages but I encountered a problem and I haven't sold anything yet, I noticed that I make a few impressions per day but no one seems to buy the service. Do you guys work on Fiverr? And if so, how can I get more impressions on my gig and make sales to make this viable?

Someone suggested to me a few days ago to look for different keywords that don't have much competition, is there any site that can tell you which keywords have the least amount of competition?

Thanks in advance.

I don't have a service on Fiverr but I see some issues. Number 1: you've gone months with a few impressions and no purchases yet you have a completed service for sale. This is great you got the hard part out of the way but bad thing is you let the self funneling system part fail. Maybe look into advertising and find some keywords that help boost whether you believe in advertisement algos or not.

Next: Is this service easily accessible through Fiverr? What do you offer? What are your prices? Are the prices and the service worth it or are competitors better?

Finally, is there a large demand for this considering there are options such as google translate (while google translate isn't really that great, I used it when in Spanish class and it became more work then actually answering through the way we were taught).

You've got a great skill and there is a demand for it somewhere, but you'll have to find it. Don't be discouraged at these weaknesses in your service that I brought to attention but instead find a solution to make them a strength and excel at it. Soon enough with some work you'll have sales - follow your process and improve the service!

Edit: What languages do you specialize in? I'm curious. With a little market research you can find demographics this could be most suitable for - if its a language like Leonese then it may not be scalable because not that many people know how to speak that language or even know of it. BUT if you can offer something like Mandarin/Chinese to English or English to French or something like that it is scalable because there are millions that speak those languages

From my experience it will take anywhere between 3-6 months to get your first customer. It’s difficult to provide advice as there are many factors which play a role in conversion. Especially if you have no prior customers. If you can attach the link to the Fiverr ad it will be easier to provide criticisms. - Mike

I also recently created a fiverr gig but it is not by any means the main marketing channel - as a matter of fact I have no expectations of it ever getting a ton of impressions. If it ever produces something out of no where that's great..

But it's kind of like throwing a book up on amazon with self-publishing and doing no marketing or putting in any effort (I'm guilty of this)

There's so many gigs on fiverr and to think you'll get a lot of traffic to a service without any effort is quite unrealistic..

Maybe I'm wrong about your service as I'm in a completely different market than you but if I relied on fiverr for my service I'd get no where. We need to brand ourselves, put ourselves out there on forums with our target audience just like this one, build relationships, do prospecting, get referrals.. tons of things other than just placing a gig on fiverr.

Hope this short insight helps

This is golden for those wanting a side gig or business and having to do the self promotionals/marketing. Before I joined the forum I was going to do dropshipping and had my store made and everything. I had an error with shopify before opening the store and decided not to execute the plan. I realized that it'd take lots of time creating, researching, boosting/spending money, and making a following to advertise my products. Which that same night I talked to my Dad about it - nearly in tears as I thought I'd never start a business (I was 15 at the time), 17 now and while I can't say I'm an expert I've picked up a lot of knowledge and things from my own endeavors to get the ball rolling so i can enjoy freedom in my early 20's and the rest of my life.

This all takes time and careful planning and research. If you leave a wooden fence for a year to stain itself it'll only be more worn down from the elements. You can't just throw your online store out there and expect it to do good it takes time and creating a productocracy as found in Unscripted

Hi,

A few thing might be part of the problem:
1. if you had no clients, you have no reviews. I would never use an offer withoit any reviews
2. what are your credentials?
3. do you have a niche or do you translate anything?
4. there are many translators and there is much competicion (I used to be a freelance translator in medical school).

You may a least try to get a few reviews or sell your services for a discount to solve the review problem.

I thought about making an instagram page in order to promote myself and get some people interested in my gig.

I changed prices over the course of these months, the lowest is $5 and the highest is $15.

Yeah social media is your friend here. I suggest trying to take advantage of things like Reels and Tiktoks, if you can make a short video advertising your product while being engaging and creative in some way, you'd be on the right track to make some impressions and even sales

ook for different keywords that don't have much competition
THIS. you need to use SEO/adwords and generate traffic. Language translations are extremely important and they cost an arm and a leg (especially anything legal or technical because languages like french and german are contextual) and documents go for 20-30€ PER PAGE.
you need to figure out what type of documents you specialize in and create a marketing scheme around that. you are competing with shit tons of folk obviously, but what 99% of them are not doing are going on sites like this one and figuring out SEO or adwords or some way to funnel lots of traffic into their ecosystem.

Fiverr is shit!

So are all the other freelancing / job platforms!

Why would anyone go join a platform and compete against thousands of freelancers who most likely charge a tenth of what anyone sane would consider a decent hourly rate?

I highly regret wasting my time on these platforms. Even more than that, I regret talking hours upon hours to headhunters, only to find out about the laughable hourly rate they would offer! I did not spend decades building rare and valuable skills to be offered a plumber‘s hourly rate or worse by some mouth breathing recruiter (no offense to plumbers intended)!

On the other hand, whenever someone from my personal network reached out with a job offer, I was rewarded handsomely, because I knew that the recommendation came from someone who had complete trust in my capabilities and the employer had a specific and urgent problem to solve where I knew I could make a difference.

In my personal experience, the monetary difference between referrals and platforms is 5x to 10x!

If your personal network is weak, go join an business network and meet people in your niche and business people in your area. For every monetary and time Investment I made in networks, clubs, and coaching, I was rewarded hundredfold!!

Thanks for sharing your Fiverr ad link! Please take the following criticism with a grain of salt, this is only my opinion.

What I can see from your advert is that your gig description doesn’t clearly state why using automatic translators are poor. You only mention one sentence which isn’t enough.

Secondly, I know that a lot of your problems would be solved if you had prior clients but if you could state why you are better than other translators on this platform. Boost up yourself. Create bullet points providing reasons why I can be confident that your translations will be 100% satisfactory. Build that sense of connection and trust right away.

Hope this helped !

Will do, thanks!

I also changed my gig description to the following:
"
Hello,
My name is Roberto and I will translate English to Spanish, German or French or vice versa.
I translate any type of document, website, presentation or any other content.

I only do manual translations that will sound natural and will do research and use special glossaries to be sure every word is in the correct context. Automatic translations are just wrong and nobody can understand them. For $5 USD I can translate up to 1,500 words and deliver them within hours.

If you have a larger document, website or any other file you can type the number of words in the box and the price will be calculated automatically.

If you are not sure of the number of words and I can count them for you, using specialized software, so contact me for a custom order.

I proofread every file, but if there is any issue you find on your delivery, I will gladly modify it until you are 100% satisfied."

Should I add something else to make it more appealing to the client?
