Hey, this isn't s'posed to be a New Year's Resolution thread.

It's starting to sound like one . . .

(albeit with an entrepreneurial bent)

Hum. Guess I killed the thread. Apologies-- not my intent.

I just wanted it to be about DOING-- not DREAMING.

In other words-- what have you done THIS YEAR, and HOW WILL YOU BUILD ON IT NEXT YEAR?

So, what is posted here needs to be measurable and and a timeframe attached to it?

By July of 2012, I will grow my wife & I's B&M retail store to provide at least $5k/month profit, while having my wife only work 25 hours/week. At that point we will look into expanding physical locations and/or e-commerce.

I will be able to quit my job at that point, although I may hold off if expanding physical locations until the new location is profitable. However, I have set in stone the date of March 31st, 2013 as the absolute last day that I will work at my job.

To find the courage to pursue one or more of my business ideas until I have built a strong brand/business.

At the moment I am finding it difficult to part with my savings and time due to a fear of failure, but I am slowly realising that failure is nothing to be worried about. The worst thing that can possibly happen is that I lose some money and some time, but the experience would be priceless.

In 2012, I will find the necessary financing to purchase my first property to rehab and rent out for passive income.

I have already found a way to get some of the financing by following Ryan D's blueprint. Which I have already started doing and have made $1500 profit. It's a start! Thanks Ryan for your posts!

I wish everyone on the forum a safe, healthy and prosperous New Year!

After reading this I retract my previously public statements.
The "don't state your goals out loud" concept is misinterpreted. If your read the last two sentences you'll see that Sivers starts to clarify.

The key is to not state your goal in a way that makes you feel you've already accomplished something. If your goal is SMART instead of vague and empty - stating your goals out loud is helpful.

I see people posting "I will start a passive income" or similar - I can almost guarantee that they will not accomplish anything. Why? Because their goal is too broad, shallow, and based on 'fluff' that sounds nice. It is said purely to make them think better about themselves - exactly what Sivers is talking about, as just pretending that they have a goal makes them feel like they have already accomplished something.
