When I started doing influencer marketing for brands, I managed to get creators to say yes and onboarded them to our program.
But they never generated the $ in sales that we desired. It was tough until I found out that you lose half the juice of your influence-partners if you don't do ACTIVATION.
Onboarding and getting creators to say YES is half the song...
Activation is where the real money is made.
Here are 3 things I did to turn our influencer efforts around:
Once a creator is onboarded, send them a welcome email (you'd be surprised how many brands don't do this)
Add them to an email sequence (1x/week) with content inspiration, performance of top ambassadors, and special perks [CRITICAL]
Every time they post, congratulate them on the results they drove. Reinforcing the habit of posting will work wonders.
Long story short, actually engage with them even after they're officially ambassadors.
You made them part of your tribe, act like it!
It's not always about onboarding the most number of influencers - it's about working with who you've got and making the most out of them.
This literally changed the game for me. Open to questions about it.
Have you got any other interesting activation ideas? I'd love to hear!
