Ahhh!

Standard Operating Procedures!

This is my space of expertise, i've spent the past 8 years writing them in my manufacturing positions.

Watched a few and skipped a bit, but what i've seen looks decent. Couple of tips.

Try to develop a header that you can lock in place (I've only done this in word so its alot easier). Usually headers contain the following

  • control group, which 'department' fits in such as finance, quality, etc.
  • Whoever approved the document (supervisors, managers, and owners)
  • Control element (whats the measurmeent that the task was completed correctly)
  • Effective date (when the control doc was pretty much activated)
  • Revision number
  • document number (for ease of identification but i think you mentioned this a bit)

Another tip is to have a section designated who's responsible for the task being done and who's responsible to audit the said task.

Good advice @jpanarra.

I’m going to see how little I can put into the doc though. There’s only three of us using them and I’ve no plans to increase that headcount.

Nobody ever plans to explode when they do... I'm looking forward to going back to this thread when you have a 100 man company.
No way. 100 man company is 100% NOT what I want to end up with. Shudder.
