* Lost 5 pounds in 6 days. Stocked health food in house. No junk food allowed. Eating real healthy, drinking lots of water. Need to do more exercise

* Updated Quickbooks for a completed 2010 year.

* Deposited my share of funds into new start-up

* Kissed my kids on forehead and told them I loved them prior to heading out the door and off to school. Did this all week. This was something I decided I wanted to do more often. It's a very little thing but can make a big difference in how my kids' day goes.

* Lastly, cleaned my car out and have been removing trash or anything just sitting there. Been only a week of success but plan to always have a clean car, hence clean conscience.

I hug our little one every day when I drop her off at daycare (part of our "good bye" ritual.

As I'm hugging her, I tell her "You give the *best* hugs". She always squeezes tighter at that point.

Again, small thing, but makes her happy, and puts her head in a good place.

-Opened a new chequing account.

-Decided on a brokerage account (with thinkorswim).

-Decided to pursue a 4-year BComm degree majoring in Finance. Currently talking with an academic advisor to see what prerequisites I will need.

-Wrote my resume in order to find a job.

-Listed all of my books and things of value that I no longer need onto free classified sites. I'm going to use the money to buy more books and to invest in the markets.

-Started studying math for an hour each day.. for no apparent reason.

-Started learning guitar (my fingers hurt, but it's fun)

-Spending a portion of each day learning new languages, and advancing my knowledge of those that I already know.

-Worked out for half an hour

-Read about building wealth for an hour

-Visualized/meditated for 20 minutes

-researched needs that are waiting to be filled(potential business opportunities): generated a dozen ideas this way

-narrowed down my list of ideas to 2-3 I might pursue

-developed the concept for each of these 3 ideas to be tested in the market

Since yesterday:

-Posted a new tax blog article- Taxes At Home – At Your Own Risk, Why You NEED A Tax Professional(video)

-Responded to friend's birthday wishes to me in a way to promote our website and Facebook Page ;)

-Made a second Facebook Ad from Russ's recommendation and a few small changes to my first ad.

-Added an email subscribe button to our website at Lighthouse's suggestion AND with the help of WildAmbitions

-Changed a few sentences on the contact page(our landing page for ads)

-Looked at our competitor's ads on Craigslist and shortened/edited our Ad to incorporate some of the lingo. Here's ours and here's my favorite of all the competitors

-Ran close to my PR for a 10K and currently weigh 221lbs, a net loss of 53lbs since I started on my weight loss craze on 9/18 :)

But most of all....

-Had a wonderful home cooked family dinner for my birthday, got wonderful gifts(Michael Jackson Experience for Wii, Toy Story 3 DVD and Cashflow 101 Board Game) and spent quality time with the Missus playing Wii :)

Lol, my birthday was yesterday :p

And I still need to talk to MJ about the username, I posted in the Official Name Change forum, but I would prefer to be "JeffersonFranklinTax" since I was never really a playa and I sold the VR4 exactly one year ago on Sun ;)

Nothing overly significant but I've found a few good sources for analysis and raw data on stocks and just need to find something that will give me a better insight on currency movements.

I've also come up with two trading/investment strategies which I have done some early research on and still need to scrutinise a little more.

Secured my universities courses. Begun to get my a$$ back into shape and eating/sleep patterns right.

Begun to think about where I want to be in ten years and more importantly how.

So nothing earth shattering, to do now:

-Take out full subscriptions.
-Scrutinise strategies better.
-Get plan together.

Have been at an international innkeeping conference this week, learning about new stuff/changes in the market. Also was a featured speaker for 3 different classes.

Making a "hit list" of stuff I've GOTTA do ASAP.

Oh yeah, my wife and I both got a food-borne illness that took us out for 24+ hours. Hated it.

(but still managed to teach-- stayed curled up in a ball in bed, went to class, came back and curled up again . . .)

Sure feels good to be getting better!

So much done since I last updated this thread, hopefully I can stick to the most important things:

1) Registered for the Rock N' Roll Arizona Half Marathon this Sun and got t-shirts made up with our business name and web URL on it so I can get something out of this other than burning a few thousand calories and a new Personal Record time for a half-marathon ;)

2) Met with two local friends with plenty of connections who are currently working at getting us plenty of referrals for our business.

3) Working on a local marketing effort of flyer/business card distribution- starting with posting flyers at local laundromats and leaving business cards at our bank and a few other local businesses.

4) Sold our services to 2 complete strangers today during our wonderful road-trip to Mexico- one at the casino and one at a gas station, both of whom mentioned taxes which steered the conversation towards what we do and why we're the best for THEIR needs :)

5) Took constructive criticism from another thread to get the ball rolling in working with a Fastlaner who specializes in web design/development for site redesign.

Much more, but I'd have to look through 6 days of my Evernote diary and that would just make this post way too long ;)

Since the last post....

1) Actively marketed business to sales reps at 1/2 Marathon Health and Fitness Expo.

2) Met marathon legend Meb Keflezighi at the Expo and got to ask him some burning questions about his victories and triumphs(he came here as a refugee from Eritrea, the most oppressive nation in the world, even worse than N Korea). On top of that, I emailed his manager(his brother) to let him know how grateful I was to meet him!

3) Emailed the agent of a top pro athlete to inquire about marketing opportunities for our services- probably out of our price range, but doesn't hurt to ask ;)

4) Contacted a family friend who is a professional graphic designer with tons of experience and now he is currently working on our logo :)

5) Contacted our new web designer(a fellow Fastlaner) with some ideas for how we want the site to look- basically simple, interactive and professional ;)

6) Went to a wedding last night that we were invited to by a family friend who is currently one of our company's biggest "evangelists"- met some great people and might have some new clients as a result!

7) Ran the Arizona Half Marathon today at a new personal record time of 1:43:13, almost 2 minutes faster than my goal time and also shattered my "unofficial" PR of 1:47. And oh yea, met even more great people that I gave my contact info to and will hopefully keep in touch with including a 66yr old man from Wales who finished just behind me!

Cleaned my truck's engine.
Fixed the rear brakes (and adjusted parking brake)

The truck is my only transportation, so I have to take care of it.

Also, re-programmed some 'image sequences' in my website... makes it more user-friendly.

I would say on this forum to go with Cmasser or whatever. Dont go to your business name on the forum. I skip over a lot of posts from folks like that because it gives a perception of you are hear to promote your business only. There are cases where this isnt true (globalwealth etc) but for the most part i would stick with something more personal.

Plenty more done since last post, here's the highlights:

1) Found another great place for flyers - STARBUCKS :)

2) Started looking for an apartment(which we can also use as an office as they all have business centers and conference rooms) and found out it's a great marketing tool since the apartment sales staff all asked for our flyers to put in their "new resident" packets.

3) Joined the AZ Business Networking Group(thanks to Terence Chang!) and went to a great event last night about how to properly utilize YouTube to promote our business.

4) Kept up with my run/bike workouts in the "recovery" week

5) Keeping on top of the IRS and other reputable newsletters to strengthen our tax knowledge and created/posted fresh content to our Tax News blog
