I set this challenge last week. I've been a software engineer for 14 years but I've always (and still) worked for someone else. I failed at multiple business before: amazon books, shopify store, consulting agency but this time I'm going for a SaaS and I feel like I'm starting in the right direction.

I had no idea exactly what to build so I started youtubing for SaaS ideas but I haven't found a video that was super helpful. I learned about sites like TrustMRR.com and g2.com but that's about it. I also learned that most people find business ideas at their job which makes sense so I started paying way more attention at work even though what we do is mostly state contracts so I might not find something there but I'm paying close attention.

I still have no clear idea, still in the idea research/validation phase. I'm looking in the pets niche though I think there's potential there. I was volunteering at a non-profit 2 weeks ago, and I was asking about their processes and they said they went back on paper because they couldn't afford a $200/month software so that made me think that there's a need there so I've been looking into that, trying to get into contact with people online, I've found one person that has been really helpful in explaining processes.

I do also have a vet friend which I'm trying badly to get a dinner with him so I can ask him a few questions. I don't want to spend months building something that won't sell but also, I don't want to spend too much time on the idea because I could be looking for weeks and not find the "perfect" idea so I don't know what's a good balance there but for now I've been trying to understand the niche that I'm going into and look at what SaaS exist in that niche, and what people are complaining about to see how I could help.

I've also been looking to find in person events where I could go and meet people in the industry but so far the soonest I found is October 19 so I'm going to focus online for now.

I started also getting out of my comfort zone and striking random conversation with people whenever I'm waiting in line. I'm super introverted by nature but found it much easier than my mind made it to be to have a decent conversation actually.

I've been learning some of the lingo of the industry as I have no experience at all with it but I've been learning fast. I also took an appointment for my cat which is not a bad thing for him anyway and I will definitely pay more attention than when I usually go, and ask questions.

I also created the LLC and setup the payment processor so now I'm good to receive money even though I don't have my idea yet, all of that is setup.

I need to improve my focus though I always feel like I have 20 tabs open at the same time: "oh I need to check this later", "this could be interesting to find an idea" so I've honestly been all over the place at time but at least compared to even just a month ago, it's day and night so it's progress.

That's it, let me know if you have feedback, I'm opened to anything. Most of you reading this know a lot more about business than I do so feedback is definitely welcome, no feelings will be hurt!
The thing that I'm always asking myself is: "am I action faking?". Even writing this post I feel like might be action faking.

Anyways, this is day 10/495, thank you for reading.

Spent 10 mins making an update on my YT channel also which says the same thing pretty much as what I wrote there in case you're interested in hearing my accent!
