Just learned that our local hospital will cover the funeral costs of your family member if they die in the hospital and the family agrees that it can be labeled a covid death...
Always look for the incentives... what does the hospital gain from labeling deaths this way?

And what might they do to increase this gain...?

Yikes.

They get money from the govt for every covid death. They get money for every covid patient on a vent too.

The govt in Australia skipped a step at the start of this pandemic and just offered to pay peoples funeral costs directly if they died of covid in an aged care home. What do you know 90% of our covid deaths were in aged care homes.

Then the incentive is not for you to survive and go home healthy.

And I still haven't forgotten the states and governors in the USA who put covid-positive patients in nursing homes, spreading the virus extra quickly and killing the elderly... while also preventing them from having any visits or contact with their own families during that time.

Even if the goal of "extra money for patients with covid or on ventilators" is to "fund and assist with care," think about how screwed up the outcome of that is. These hospitals want more money and funding, so naturally, more patients with covid and more patients on ventilators will be in their best interest.

So now let’s throw this into the mix.

If you treat covid early at home and don’t need to go to the hospital then they get no money at all.

So I'm a consumer on Amazon looking for some tumeric powder for my mum.

Why doesn't it show prices? Do I have to click in and out of each one to compare prices and sizes?

And why do some of them say they don't deliver to my region? Why isn't Amazon just showing the ones I can actually buy?

Eugh, what a cr*p user experience...

Bizarre, isn't it. "How hard is it?" Yeeeeeah. The reason the last 5% (cough...) don't want it is because it's hard to drive down the road to get it.

If you offer an NFT with your products on Etsy they slap your listings with this warning message. Even though it specifically targets sellers who offer NFTs as standalone items, it seems like they want to discourage sellers from offering NFTs at all. Otherwise, why not just add this to their terms of service?

I follow him and do agree with many of his messages.

There's a real nice sense of accomplishment when you're heading back home from an early morning workout, particularly if it was a challenging one.

Recently I've been increasing the amount of discomfort each day and while obviously it sucks, it's also a sort of therapy for me.

Interested in this, too. Primarily 1 and 2.

I think maybe you need to narrow down your self-sufficiency/off the grid plan to decide whether you want to grow food (and if so, what climate), hunt, build stuff, prepare for disasters (and what kind are most common in your area), etc. There are a lot of approaches.

You may be interested in this post, though I find it way too pessimistic:

Link doesn't work.

I'm mainly concerned with how I can begin to integrate these into everyday home life. How does someone who hasn't been focused on this stuff get started with it? Start small and explore it more over time.

I have a fair amount of survival gear. Bugout bags, guns, knives things like that. But how do I go deeper as a person living in a small town who is not off grid. Just looking for good starting points to explore.

Link doesn't work.

Maybe it will work later as it's a correct link (I double checked on Google).

The article talks quite a bit about going from the basics to more advanced stuff.

A friendly reminder that losing a few percent to inflation temporarily is better than losing a hell of a lot more than that in a sell off.

I like Andrew Tate's take on this. Seeing as how being off-grid whilst still having a good life is almost impossible nowadays, you wanted to get yourself on as many grids as possible so no one government has total control over your life (multiple passports, residencies, bank accounts, driving licenses etc)

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4oebFUkIHg
The whole off the grid thing has a lot of appeal to me, but it is totally incongruent with my business life. I only get to do this all once… So I’m squarely ON the grid.

Shrimp shack.

That’s the “screw this I’m out of here,” shrimp 5 ways on the beach, stiff drinks with a view, one-off business. It would be in some 3rd world country I can drive my RV to.

Yes. The way I envision it, it would be “off the grid.”

But the way it will probably happen, if I’m honest with myself, is a worldwide franchise, 670 locations globally, shrimp 20 ways, and even airport restaurants.

I can’t leave good enough alone.

By the way, his second book is coming out probably in May. It's supposed to be more tactical. Really looking forward to it.
I know @MJ DeMarco can hardly contain his excitement for Goggins' second book, considering how much he LOVED the first one.

I know there has been a lot of chatter from the "I am rich don't need to work, so I am depressed as F*ck because life has no meaning". I hear that message and I accept it to be true for those who write it. But it's not true for me.

I was up at 5AM today (as usual) and got busy. If I am the best of me, my life has meaning. My family will watch me, my friends, my offspring - anyone willing to watch should get some benefit. If you meet me, I want you to walk away 1% better than you were before meeting me. Goggins is another level, but we share similar world view. There are no record pull ups in my future, I have no interest in that. That's because we have different paths.

If my example helps a few people, even if briefly - my life was meaningful. And yeah, I hear you all - we are but specs of dust in the universe. 100 years from now there may not be a USA, let alone me in the memory of people.

It's not about that. Life is short. I commit to living it, not existing as part of it. Living is an action. Loving someone is active too. And in all that I find deep meaning.

Thanks for sharing @MTF - Goggins is the man! I'll be buying his book as soon as it comes out.
