n the last 30 days, they've cleaned 30 cars, and generated $5100 in revenue. Just knocking on doors and working part-time while they are still going to high school.

...I just kept thinking about how many people come on this forum and announce that they're going to start an internet marketing agency and they're wondering how to get to $1,000...

But knocking on doors isn't my passion. I hate it.

Cleaning cars? Sounds like hard manual labor, and hard manual labor isn't my passion either. I hate manual labor.

It's much easier to post a thread here, ask for comfortable ways to get $1000, and then go back to my job, which I also hate. ;)

Half of it seems to be the difficulty but the other half seems to be awareness. I've been on TFF for years but thought all the stories about people freelancing or starting a service biz were doing it on a fluke or sheer luck.

Doing my cold calls, called up a guy who currently owns a commercial construction company, he got his start when he was in debt at 18 by doing power washing, going door to door in his neighborhood and getting consistent clients. Nothing special, just knocking on doors, being responsive, and getting things DONE and doing well for himself without too much stress.
He then rolled the power washing biz into a painting biz and started hiring his first employees and started growing his service area. After just 3 years he took those skills into construction, did get sorta lucky with some contracts, and now has about 40 employees at the age of 23.

If I hadn't been able to sit him down and hear his complete story over lunch, I'd still be sitting here thinking anyone making serious service business money was either lying or really lucky.

All I know is that, when my kids are of age, I'll give them the choice of working at mcdonalds or learning how to knock on doors and providing value and earning a living with leverage; there seems to be no reason to work a shitty job when you can pick one of hundreds of businesses and make it work and scale it.

The truth about the economy.

This is what @Kak is always talking about. The way the monetary system works in basically every country today just doesn’t work.
Yep. Affordability (demand) drives pricing. Not the other way around. That’s why raising mortgage rates 100% in a year and not stopping any time soon is extremely concerning.

The reality for 2022 once an equilibrium sets in is more like:

$2024/m with 20% down @ 7% interest is $380k

$2024/m with 10% down @ 7% interest is $338k

Even if you put 40% down you still can’t afford the same home as 2021 with $2024/m budget.

Now… Make interest rates 10% (something that pretty much all analysts think will happen) and calculate again. It’s pretty scary.

Yup, and a lot of people (rightly) complain about this issue when affordability disappears, but (incorrectly) attribute it to “capitalism.”

This is not the fault of capitalism. The answer is not more of what caused the problem. Sorry, I know it’s a little political, but someone needs to educate people on how finance and economics work...

Comfortable ways! Exactly.
Nothing about knocking on doors is comfortable.
Nothing about doing a deep clean on car, getting wet etc is comfortable.

But it is needed.

In similar way, there is a business downtown where I drop off my car on the way to work, walk over to my office and then come and pick it up and it's been detailed. It's not cheap but my friends and I use it regularly. The guys who organized it took an area of parking that's not used much, got a great deal and access to water, brought in supplies, better lights, hired staff, advertised to all local office towers around and boom! Success. The owner now has a hobby of collecting nice cars. Yes, it is still not a comfortable way to get paid, but you do get paid.

Capitalism is apolitical anyway. It’s a system of free exchange and choice.

Neither political party embrace it, even though they both claim to.

If the chain of finance dead ends into some government nightmare, the entire industry is essentially nationalized. The only way to remove socialism from the real estate market is to make the paper stay in private hands by not having a commie bank that buys all the loans.

Since that’s never going to happen, I’m more concerned with accumulating private wealth using my understanding of this system. Let the world burn down around me for all I care. I’m going to do better.

I am going to channel my inner Kyle Keegan @Kak here folks... buckle up, you are in for a ride on this rant!

Canada finally has a win against the recent hard left USSR style commie politics. Local governments have been F*cking around with land use to meet their political campaigns and we, as developers were often F*cked. We'd buy land to rezone it and then someone decides they think that the use for our private land is now something different, to please a few voters or their own desires. Full on USSR style leadership spitting in the face of private ownership by manipulating land values etc. Such politics is basically theft. Yes, stealing land by making it unusable!

Here finally some good news...

Supreme Court ruled:
"The 5-4 ruling on Friday takes aim at governments that in effect steal land, through development freezes, zoning changes or environmental restrictions that render private property unusable."

THANK YOU!

When people hate on the "tyranny" of countries like Canada, Australia, or the US and compare them to third world dictatorships, they don't understand that such outcomes as yours would never happen in those other countries. Your land would be stolen, and if you were to protest, you'd be thrown in jail or killed. No judge would rule in your favor.

With all its imperfections, those of us who live in countries with the rule of law are extremely blessed.

I agree ☝, there are too many examples of countries where property rights are not respected. We are blessed today with the Supreme Court ruling re-affirming the value of property rights. And you (in fact everyone here) know how I hate using the word “commie”, and that I sincerely like and choose to live in Canada.

All that is not to say that I cannot speak my mind against disrespect for property rights. Political appointees were to choose how I can or cannot use my land and I’d have no recourse. To me that’s hard left barreling down the road to communism. This is where nudging it along this direction ruins key reasons that make us blessed today. The things you wrote slowly will become impossible to achieve.

Thats why this Supreme Court ruling is a big win for Canada and is worthy of discussion/ celebration (with a rant against anyone who disagrees).

Ha ya I was really tempted to sell mine cause I think I would make double but the feeling on the road makes it hard to sell. Just feels so safe with a great driving height.
The view from the drivers seat is the best. It also feels like a TANK. Even the little things like the door locks are consistent with this image.

Having said that, I was still very happy to sell mine a year or so ago haha

Just a little idea i had and felt the need to share

Idea For Entrepreneurs Looking To Write a Book:

I realize now that, learning the reason WHY entrepreneurship is so important and actually helps the world, and is not about a big money grab, but rather about advancing the world forward, I think bigger, and I think in terms of service. If I understood WHY from the start, I would've seen everything completely different.

I think if there was a book that explained the real importance of entrepreneurship in society in a way that people can understand and take in, that understanding of WHY we are doing entrepreneurship will inspire people to think in terms of service over profits from the start.

All the examples from over the years, from the Rockefellers to the Jobs to the Zuckerberg's, and then comparing the similarities of the printing press to the iphone and things like that.

If people understood the WHY of entrepreneurship in society it feels like there would be a lot less Amazon FBA stores and things like that and more businesses of real value.

Tagging @Kak (feels like this is up your alley and I got the idea from your show).

Here's the title I came up with:

https://www.canva.com/design/DAFP3TuYyTk/2JLLhBpyK7YQZfSDg-pbpg/view?utm_content=DAFP3TuYyTk&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link&utm_source=publishsharelink

Cover idea -
Instead of Uncle Sam, make a real life photo that people will identify with Uncle Sam, but in an entrepreneurial fashion

The best middle east war movie I've seen in some time was from an Iraqi perspective. It's Netflix though haha. And produced by the Russo brothers behind a bunch of marvel films, lol. Eh, I still liked it though.

This movie is fantastic and should of at least gotten nominated for an Oscar but nothing but crickets.

ChemiCloud's web hosting is providing absolutely mind-blowing levels of support.

I've contacted them for three separate issues. Two of those were post-sale.

I received instant support that was actually helpful all three times.

Not just Q/A support either. One of those was website migration with back and forth chat between myself and the support agent. If I tried to get a migration through Siteground, I'd be lucky to hear from them at all, and they'd probably bill me for it.

I honestly can't believe the support is so much better. I'll cross my fingers that it lasts.

Parenting is hard work. Especially when the little ones get sick. Mine had so much mucous in tummy that caused puking a few times, last night and today.

It's interesting how parenting is hard in different ways over the years. I always thought it would get easier as my kids got older. In some ways, it has; in other ways, though, it gets more difficult.
