How? I want to quit being told to update to Windows 11.
I was referring to the stupid ads in my search bar. I have 11 on all of my PCs.

The socialist propaganda machine is back on.

Haven't even watched the video, just the title alone made me cringe.

No one click that. The owner of that channel is a Marxist clown that doesn’t deserve the ad revenue. I picked apart one of his utterly disgusting videos on my radio show recently.

Why doesn't the clown emoji appear in comments once posted, but does appear when one is writing a comment? Like this:

To me, DRM means "they" can steal it back from me whenever they want. So, I try to keep non-DRM versions of things that I want to make sure I have access to forever. In the case of books, I'm happy to buy kindle/audible books, but for books I want to be sure I have access to, I buy a paper copy.

I remember when Amazon remotely deleted two Kindle Books being sold by an unauthorized publisher. They were George Orwell's "1984" and "Animal Farm". The irony was not lost on the internet.

I buy 95% of my books on kindle first, and if it is a book that I want to put in my "forever" pile and read over and over I will buy the physical version of it. I will also generally get the audio book version as well. I guess I am a good customer when it comes to books, I will very easily purchase 3 versions of the same book.
I follow this exact process haha.

I wonder if he gets any cognitive dissonance from promoting his socialist garbage by using a digital camera, the internet, and Youtube - all technologies created in the heart of capitalism.

I think he has a mental breakdown every month when the capitalist ad revenue paycheck comes in.

Check out the Onyx Boox lineup. They run an Android OS. I'm sure not all apps will work given the limited refresh rates of e-ink, but it's a start.

I've got a Boox tablet - very happy with it. Video is surprisingly good, considering it is e-ink (not as good as LCD/OLED of course). I mainly use it for reading & Google. Haven't had any problems so far running apps on it.

Screw off Windows, I don't want you to just force stuff on me. All these updates break software all the time. Forced updates also install all kinds of software and change permissions without asking as well.

Updates have brought ads to my windows search bar. Ads and "news" to some bar beside my clock. Updating colors and "the message" logos on the bottom of my page as well, thanks for that Windows, I'll be sure to align my thinking with yours.

I guess windows decided I need 11. At least they buried a thing in the bottom of the page that allowed me to decline it for now. I miss the days when buying something meant that you owned now. Now everything is a rental and subscription based.

On a similar topic, Google has gone in to a lot of ads accounts and changed phrase match keywords to broad match through some what of a backdoor auto recommendation around allowing them to remove redundant keywords. I only heard about this yesterday but it may be old news already.

They never see it that way. It would require a level of consistency of thought that would preclude them from being a socialist.

Once you dive into praxeology, or the study of human action, you discover some serious inconsistencies that, yes, completely preclude a thinking person from being a socialist.

The study essentially uses the improvement of one’s condition as the foundation for all human effort. Essentially, if you do something, anything, you are seeking to improve your condition from where you were before you took the action.

That could be as big of a deal as starting and growing a company, or as little of a deal as tidying up your car or even taking a nap. There is an underlying belief that whatever you are doing is improving your condition. Even alcoholics buying and consuming alcohol is part of their praxeology. It’s not good for them and doesn’t improve crap in the long term, but they believe a drunken state to be an improvement on their condition.

Even charity! Helping others and being charitable is something that many enjoy. An improvement on their condition.

It’s a universal truth.

Socialists, Marxists and communists have the bizarre belief that politicians have some wonderous power to ignore this foundational truth, and serve “the greater good.” They are special. They can completely ignore human nature because they are a politician. They fall for the trick.

Someone asked me privately if writing on Medium is a good side hustle.

Here was my answer

-----------------------------------------------------------

Hey,

It works, but I don't recommend it for the following reasons.

1. It takes a monstrous amount of time: it took me 18 months of constant writing before I made $300 in one month.
2. It's impossible to control. Some months I have made $1.5k. Some months, I made $400.
3. If breaks all CENTS commandments.

Control: if the platform kicks you out, you're dead.
Entry: anyone can sign up and start writing.
Need: nobody is asking for reading what you're writing.
Time: you can't automate writing
Scale: it doesn't scale as your writing is behind the paywall.

4. Most people fail because writing is hard.

I got on Medium completely randomly and did not plan to make any money with it.

I still did, but it was a total accident.

If you're looking for a side hustle, here's what I would do instead.

1. Laser-engraver wallet side hustle: I quit my warehouse job after starting an Etsy side hustle that made $67,000 in profit in 10 months. Here's how I escaped the 9-to-5 grind.
2. Airbnb in your garden/apartment
3. TikTok agency
4. Data science on Upwork
5. Tour guide
6. Affiliate marketing (just go on Flippa and copy whatever site you see there)
7. Online teaching: italki, preply, etc
8. Plants e-commerce shop

If you invest one year into any of these, you'll make 10X what I have made on Medium in three years.

I am still writing there to earn a bit of money (...) but I am not planning to keep on doing so as I could do much better things with my time.

Yet...if you really want to write there, then I suggest you create a premium account and follow the following people:

- Tim Denning
- Isaiah McCall
- Ayodeji Awosika
- Jared A. Brock
- Sean Kernan

They're the best writers on Medium.

Then watch the YouTube channel of Zulie Rain.

Then start writing.

Now I will answer your questions:

How does Medium work exactly: like Youtube. The more people read you, the more you earn.
What do you get paid for (for the articles, clicks...): one article made me $1.2k, others made me $0.
How much does one earn per article: depends. Cannot be predicted.
Is there a minimum length?: Medium likes when you write at least 800 words.
Is it possible to write under a pseudonym on Medium: ofc.
How sustainable is this? Is your income stopping immediately if you stop writing: no. Sometimes I wrote less, and earned more. But sometimes I wrote more, and earned less. It's not really sustainable and kinda feels like a running wheel.

Best,

Monfi

Likely gonna hit 20k tonight:
View attachment 46727

Consider that:

- I don't promote my website
- I don't track keywords
- I don't use a content checker
- I have never emailed anyone to get a link (and 145 websites redirect to mine)
- I don't pay for any SEO platforms
- I used Ahrefs once

So, how did I do it?

I focused on having a fast, slick-looking website with the best, most helpful non-spammy content on the Internet.

Voila.

I have hit 20k as expected.

Here's how an SEO strategy looks like.

1673622244815.png

The peaks often represents Google algorithm updates.

All but one update brought me more people because I have always respected the rules.

  • No black hat stuff
  • No asking for links
  • No displaying links I get paid for
  • No ads, no annoying popups, no making people wait to tell them the answer to their questions
  • Fast, easy to navigate, slick-looking mobile-friendly website
  • Content constantly updated
  • New content at least once a month
  • High quality, long-form articles that link to quality external resources.
It's a lot of work but it's not hard.

Here's my audience:

1673622788596.png
And these are the impressions I have made since I started (well not exactly, since I registered in Google Console a few months after starting).

1673622966066.png

3.6M!

Consider I am just a guy writing BS at night. Crazy what you can do on the Internet.

If you're not really smart (Eg: you can't code) but you're patient, then I would recommend SEO.

It's not so hard. All you need to do is write better than other people.

Side note: I turned ONE of my articles into a Youtube video. It's a tutorial I made myself because there were no good tutorials about this problem on Youtube.

It's now trending as the best tutorial on this topic and 10Xed the ranking of the article in Google.

Content is not hard because most people are lazy.

The magic happens when you go the extra mile.

Anyone played around with character.ai? Even after using ChatGPT all the time I'm surprised at how good the chatbots are.

Give it a year or two and people being lost in AI companionship is going to be a huge thing.

I know I am going to regret this, but I am going to watch some of this socialist garbage videos for experimental purposes.

We're only 40 seconds into a video, and a "gold nugget" of "pure wisdom" has exited this socialist's mouth:

"Many of your biggest problems in your life are either caused or worsened by capitalism"

Yeah, such as food, clean water, clothing, medical care and modern infrastructure. I also appreciate the huge amount of personal responsibility this guy is taking. Even Jocko Willink would be proud.

I can't believe I am doing this. Will probably lose a few IQ points in the process.
Wish me luck boys.

^ I need to stop this experiment prematurely because I'm not even 10 minutes in and I'm starting to get a headache (literarily).

This is the amount of garbage that he was able to spit out in 10 minutes:
  • you are not responsible for your life and your problems, it's the economy that is doing it to you
  • some people are very rich and apparently this is unfair and a problem for him personally
  • he emphasized repeatedly that some people earn more money in a day than your yearly salary, which again is apparently a big problem for him
  • brought gender pay gap into discussion, which has been thoroughly debunked in the past (has nothing to do with systemic discrimination, but rather the men's choices in regards to their work - longer hours, having kids later, working dangerous jobs etc.)
  • "no employee will pay you more than the value you generate for the company" - if this was true the economy would skyrocket. Truth of the matter is that a large proportion of people do a shitty job and are actually overpaid. This is actually a huge problem for companies, because only a tiny fraction of competent people produce most of the value, the rest are slacking off. In a socialist system this problem gets exacerbated because there is no incentive to work hard.
  • 0 sum mindset: "hiring people means exploiting them". No. Hiring people means empowering them. One worker can build a wood shack, 10 can build a house, 100 can build a school, 1000 can build a skyscraper. People can do amazing things when they collaborate together - there is nothing exploitative about this.

And this is just in one video, first 10 minutes.

What he promotes is not only an economic system, it's a life philosophy predicated on pure hatred, envy, dissatisfaction, learned helplessness, and a complete lack of personal responsibility.

Evil.

What scares me is the fact that he has 1.5M subscribers and a very high approval rating (likes/dislikes).

Yuck. He has an external locus of control X 1000.

Why does he assume that it is wrong for a well-paid person to make 500 times what someone else makes?

Maybe the low-paid person needs to improve his skills to earn more ... but wait, that would require work and thought.

That is bonkers. I won't watch any of his stuff, but someone clearly likes it.

Hilarious if he really does hate capitalism. What exactly allowed for the creation of youtube and all the crap he is using to make his videos? It is just insane that these people can believe that crap.
