You can read Principles by Ray Dalio for free and I’m not breaking any laws by telling you this or linking you to it! On the App Store, there is an application, made by Dalio, that is called Principles and it has the entire book ($30 at the bookstore) for absolutely free! I just started reading it myself and figured I would share! Happy trails guys!

Dalio, once someone I had a ton of respect for, has disappointed me lately.

Uses capitalism to start, build and grow and amazing business, wants to use socialism to lock out competitors. He pulled a Warren Buffett.

That's disappointing to find out. Started listening to his book on Audible and found it very good.

Money definitely amplifies one’s values. Perhaps he had poor character when growing his business and it did not become obvious until he became rich. Dali and Buffet are definitely losing the collective’s respect.

Don’t you think that it is better that Buffett and Dalio give back to the system that gave them so much rather than be a bunch of Scrooge McDucks and try to continue widening the wealth gap? I don’t know. Food for thought. Nonetheless, I really like his opinions on work ethic, principles and having a concrete belief system that one should follow.

What system gave them so much? Why do they need to give back? What did they take? Also, tell me about this wealth gap?

The fact is, these men, though I detest their current narratives, provided value to the world. THAT is how they got wealthy. Nothing was “given” to them by a “system.” They “gave” to the world. They didn’t “take” anything.

The fact is, the working class is better off than they have ever been. Wealth is better measured in lifestyle, not income. The working class currently has a lifestyle like they never have before. The gap between the lifestyles of the working class and upper classes is SMALLER than ever before.

Rallying for higher taxes on millionaires from the position of multi-billionaire isn't my idea of "giving back." It is selling out the rest of us “plebeian” millionaires that haven’t built billion dollar companies yet. Taxes aren't a charitable cause. Charities are; and I believe strongly in voluntary and benevolent giving. Uncle Sam is a thug, not a business partner.

Working 5 months every year for the government's take is THEFT. Theft of our time on this earth. Advocating for worsening that ratio after they already made their money is morally repugnant mistreatment of people that advance this world.

American Capitalism is the system that gave them so much... If you think they could have earned the same amount of money if they were born in Ethiopia or in Communist Russia, I think you are sadly mistaken sir. Not trying to make this into an argument, we are allowed to have differing thoughts.. And my belief is that the system and infrastructure in place in this country did a lot for them, and all people that are wealthy in this nation (a group that I believe I am slowly becoming a part of) but that doesn't mean I am not grateful for being born in this capitalist society with all of it's inherent advantages.

I digress.

I could go through the rest and explain why I believe the way I do, but I believe that would take away from the importance of this post and that is, the availability of the book for others to read along with the case studies. Have you gotten a chance to take a look at them? They're from his time at Bridgewater and are very interesting. As someone who has gone the "traditional route" (learning business at an Ivy) we got to look at a lot of case studies and I feel like this is a great way of learning more about yourself and your thought processes. Might help some people make more money and if it does that, I am happy! :)

Love you guys.

Peace and love.

I do agree with your points on government taxation wholeheartedly, and I also agree that they have given us a lot and technology has allowed us to live in an age where there is a supercomputer in every man woman and child's pocket nowadays (cell phone) so yes, I do agree with a lot of your post. Anyways, that's all I have on that. Going to go back out there and continue the grind! :)
