Hello again! Coming at you from the UK.
This question is in relation to setting myself up with some strong foundations when it comes to approaching conversations with businesses and attempting to realise a gap or bottleneck in their business that needs some help without coming across as needy or disingenuous.
I do not have a strong idea just yet, only general really and so my approach is going to be having these conversations and asking the right questions without being a jerk basically, hoping to have the mindset of "is there something you really need help with, if so, I'd like to try and help you for free to build up my experience and a win-win long-term relationship, etc..." I DO have a familiar industry in mind alongside the larger idea being planted firmly in web design & marketing, though the MVP I will try to build is going to be in really honing in on a specific issue, even if the solution is mega simple at first, I'm thinking baby steps vs getting in over my head.
Question 1.
I will be lining up some phone calls / emails going out to old work contacts I have made in the past. Are there any solid books or resources / courses I could look into (preferably free / cheap for now) that have genuinely helped you in your conversations? I have been told that I've got the "million dollar mouthpiece" by some, but always winged it, so some kind of soft structure would be great.
Question 2.
Do you have any go-to macro questions that allow for more "micro" questions to be asked to people when attempting to see if you can help them with an issue?
I have looked at the SL Persuasion System by Jordan Belfort and tried to adapt it to being a more "honest" system that fits my personality, but it felt extremely forced and cringe when trying it for real in the past and didn't exactly exude long-term client retention. I am so overwhelmed by the amount of resources these days and do not want to spend time overthinking what's the best resource. I know there will be many failures along the way, but if you could share some kind of strong foundation that would help a bunch. There is this guy who has a bit of humour to him, but I cannot afford his teachings yet, open to ideas about others though -

Love this quote from the video above: "The key to cold calling is to not care what the outcome is going to be" it's obviously paradoxical but yeah.
Thank you for your time, I look forward to updating you on this journey in future. Cheers.
