1. The first one is really vague. Probably why the emotion is unclear. Get more specific. What specific type of porn (or whatever) is this site? Looks like it's free web cams, so the desire isn't just sexual relief. Sexual relief is the end result, but there's a reason they would choose this website over another. What is it?

• Connection with live women?
• Low-cost web cam porn?
• Amateur / homemade style video?

2. In this one having a healthy baby is likely the strongest desire. The emotion is fear of what happens to babies that don't breastfeed. Feeling like they're a good/nurturing mother is a secondary desire, but not the strongest one.

ALERT: Not Breastfeeding Increases Baby's Risk of Autism by 15%

3. Good job on the desire. To be attractive is a strong desire. The strongest emotion is self-consciousness - how do you solve this? We desire to be attractive, but we feel insecure about our varicose veins.

4. Nailed the desire on this one. The emotions are good too. Acceptance / confidence make for a stronger headline, as yours is. It's a little bit wordy. Get rid of the word "But", and swap long phrases with something shorter.

5. Desire is two-fold: 1) White teeth. 2) Remove stains. - Confidence is the primary emotion. Attraction is secondary. Your headline does well at toward/away from motivation. A little long, but just a matter of practice.

But screw me, this update is not for me, it is for you who are thinking. Thinking if copywriting is worth a go or just another shiny object.

Let me tell you something about shiny objects, they are shiny because they give promises about wealth and freedom. Polished turd in most cases.

Then, when you start reading the introduction of your newly bought product and it says "research", "time", "effort" you cross out and tell yourself: "This will be great for reference later, I'll come back to this in a bit".

The once shiny object turns into a rusty wish on your hard drive, never to be spoken of again.


If you are seriously looking into @SinisterLex teachings and you think this can be something worth your while (read: something worth more than watching the next fail compilation on YouTube) let me tell you what's waiting for you:

A couple months ago I started to adopt a mindset of helping others before myself, to always over-deliver and to provide a service that people want to buy again, and again, and again... again.

Here is my current state:
I am constantly getting invites to jobs on UpWork.
I am constantly getting gigs on Fiverr.

Just today, I have closed 2 jobs. One for $120 and another for $300. Both jobs take jointly 3 hours to complete. That's an hourly rate of $140. I still have my 9-5 job, from which I make $22 /hour, not bad, but pale in comparison.

and listen, I am neither a native English speaker nor a native writer. But I take my time to understand my clients needs and their real problems. If they tell you: "I want you to write copy for my homepage/landing page".

You have to ask what is the purpose of their landing page.

I always start off with a set of questions, and I would like to share those with you guys. They are very simple, but when clients get these questions they realize I mean business and they usually take their time to write very good answers. After this, it is easier to do research and put it all together so it flows and has a meaning, a single focus and to cut out the fluff -- hence you always have to ask your clients WHY, WHAT, HOW, WHEN, WHERE.

1. Who is your target audience?
2. What is the most important matter for a client who is hiring you/buying your product or service?
3. What is (are) the benefit(s) a client will get from your service or product?
4. What are the most important problems facing this audience?
5. Why is your service or product best suited as the solution to their problem?
6. How, specifically, does your service help solve their problems?
7. Are you looking to acquire a client or indoctrinate them about your company?
8. Do you have any testimonials you want to include?
9. Do you know where do your audience "hang out"? (facebook, Instagram, coffee shops, anything that is relevant)

The questions are not for your client to do all your work for you, but rather to get the thinking and start talking more openly about their business/problem/whatever they want to sell.

Unethical gigs are a great laugh-stock though.

Just recently I was asked to write a VSL script for this MLM company/Ponzi-scheme...

Client said they are "providing risk-free encrypted server service for large corps and regular people".

What they actually do is ask you to buy these "packages" (biggest one goes for $2800) then you can run their program on your computer for 10 hours a day minimum (you also get paid smtg for this, but I doubt it'll cover your costs )....then yeah you guessed it, you have to refer more people into their system.

So I had a convo with the guy, which basically went like this:

"Um...I'm not judging, dude [I was] but this deal sounds shady as hell"
"Yeah well, even if it's a ponzi scheme it's new and will take time to collapse. By then, I will have made money..."

aaaaaand I got the F*ck out.

Thankfully, the contract was still in the interview phase.

There are an amazing amount of scammers out there.

However, I must also strike a blow for some really honest business owners. I work with some recurring clients who have really awesome businesses and they let me in on a lot of information.

I see a lot of innovative angles that people take to enter certain markets and how they carve out a niche in a competitive space. Very inspirational.

This week I wrote website copy for a company who works with digital automation, and they delivered a service that really took business owners by the hand and helped them from A to Z in automating as much as possible for their online presence.

First I thought it was some sort of scam (almost sounded like a cheap WSO) but when their owner actually showed me the business and the backend I really got amazed by how much time and effort had gone into it.

Day 12 Challenge: 2. Write 2 paragraphs of copy

You wake up to a beautiful sunny day. The sky is clear, no sign of clouds - you can feel like its going to be an amazing day!

You get wash your face, brush your teeth and slip on your socks & running gear.

You're eager to get out the door and get to running, you can't wait for the amazing rush, the wind in your face and the release of endorphin into your system.

You get outside and the birds are tweeting and the grass smells so fresh you can taste the dew.

You do some stretches and make sure you're shoes are tied well, you click play on your mp3 and you find the perfect track to start your joggin on.

You start running and you're feeling like a million bucks.... after a few min. you feel like increasing the tempo a bit, because you want to push yourself and break your time you set a few weeks back.

But when you do, you're forced to slow it down again. Every-time you increase the temp you're freaking headphones feel like they're about to pop out of your ears - its so freaking frustrating!

You're only option is to either go nice and steady with music, or take your headphones out of your ears while you push your body to the max for a few min!

Day 1 Challenge: Help Someone

My brother is applying to a big writer's conference next summer. He was having difficulty answering some of the application questions today, so I taught him how to write effective written responses. I revised some of his work to give him some reference material, and went through three rounds of revisions (waiting for the fourth!).

To be fair, this is my brother... I would have done this regardless. Either I wasn't looking hard enough today, or I really didn't come across anybody who needed help.

Day 2 Challenge

1. Help someone.

I didn't help anybody today and I learned more than if I would have. Here's what I learned:

1) I can't help anybody if I'm not around people. I worked from home today so I spent most of the day in my apartment. Didn't go out to eat, didn't meet up with any friends -- nothing. Having this intentional mindset made me realize the importance of just being out and about in the world. This whole process certainly does not exist in a void.

2) By opening up your mind to help, you naturally fall into the "idea extraction" mindset. When I finally did go out it was to get a haircut. Nothing fancy. What an eye-opening moment, though. While I was in the chair my barber started talking to another barber. He was thanking him for the pro-tip that had made his life easier. Essentially, all haircut trimmers are designed like this:

Unfortunately, this design isn't actually the best -- especially for closer haircuts. What they ended up doing, was mod the trimmers so the underside of the blades were exposed as well. Think "safety razor"-esque design. They took off the top half of the device and it made it much more useable. I asked for a demo and the changes definitely made a lot of sense from their perspective.

EDIT: I got a PM asking to explain the problem a bit better. Here's my answer if you care:

When barbers cut hair, especially black people hair, they often have to cut it close. Though it's easy to cut down the length, the hard part is maintaining the precision needed for a "clean" cut. When they use the trimmers, the underside blocks their view. So it's a lot of "trim, lift trimmer, see results, decide what needs to happen, apply trimmers to make it happen". When they remove the underside of the clippers, they get more perspective on the cut. They can see both ahead and below of the trimmers and can therefore make the cut much more accurately and efficiently.

I don't have any idea how I could make something like this, nor do I have the money to invest in anything right now. But I'm sure somebody here could take this and at least try it.

I have a friend who's launching a company after graduation, and he's been working steadily towards the release in the mean time. I offered to help him with any web-related work a few weeks ago and he actually took me up on the offer over the weekend. He wants to incorporate a web application in his service, so I told him I'd build it for him. I've gathered basic requirements from him so I can start working... will be meeting with him when I go back home for the holidays. The application is straightforward enough... but these things are never so simple. I'm expecting to put the majority of my time towards this project over the next month. All things being equal, I'll have a pretty sweet item for my portfolio and more confidence to represent myself as a web freelancer.

I haven't been committing to anything. I have a background in Computer Science, so I've been dicking around with different ideas (freelancing, creating something to sell, etc.) but not implementing anything out of fear and chasing shiny objects (ideas in other industries that I know nothing about relative to the skills I already have). With the action I'm taking from #1, I'm forcing my hand. Interestingly enough, it's also easier to commit because I'm not doing it for myself. Day 1 | Mindset Lesson 1
Be Like Jesus - Forget You. Help Them.​

I’m not sure there’s any more simple way to put it than be like Jesus. The first step to copywriting that makes money fast is to forget yourself. Forget yourself and start caring about other people.

Fake it if you have to. Fake it til’ you make it. But always operate with the intention of making it real.

Leave religion out of the picture. The only thing we’re focused on is a mindset of being focused on other people. Learning to care & help others is extremely powerful. Not only does it change the way you look at the world, but it changes the way the world looks at you.

It seems like a simple shift to make, but it’s not. It took me years to figure out what it actually means to care about others. It took years to figure out that if I just help others, good juju comes my way.

Now I finally understand, and I earn more than ever… Coincidence? Not likely.

You don’t need to fully understand why it works to make it work. All you need to do is try it. All that matters is results, remember? So start thinking in terms of other people. Start accepting others as they are. Start finding ways to help others, and you’ll find the #1 mindset technique to making money with copy.

Since I pretty much beat this concept to death in my other thread, I won’t drag it out here.

Just know that your copy won’t earn a penny until you learn to solve problems for other people.

That’s the first of the 5 Mindset lessons.

Day 1 Challenge

Really Help Someone – When I say help someone I’m not talking about convincing them that you can help them. It’s not about making them believe you can help them. It’s about actually helping them. But most of the people reading this will miss that part. That’s why I keep getting messages asking questions like “How do I get them to believe I can help them?”

The only way to get them to believe you can help them is if you actually prove you can help them, and to prove you can help them you actually have to be capable of performing the task. But before you can do that you have to be operating from the right mindset. So your challenge for Day 1 is to find someone and help them without asking anything in return.

It doesn’t matter how big or small the task, and it doesn't matter if it's online or in person. All that matters is that it truly affects the other person by making their life better, easier, more enjoyable etc.

Do it today.

Succeed at this challenge today or don’t bother reading tomorrow. Either you’re willing to take action now, and do what it takes, or you’re not, and the rest of the lessons won’t help anyway.

I guess you can say that I failed the 15 Day Challenge by missing so many days. Everyday missed made me want to do it less and less, but I'm back to finish. Gonna pick back up with Day 8.

This section is going to give you bulletproof confidence in your life. This will carry over in your relationships and you will come to terms with the princess mindset. Remember that in order to attract your prince, you need to believe you're a princess.

Why is this stressed so much? Because you need the right mindset to get your Prince. The benefits are tremendous and will wash into your whole life. Previous boyfriends will be wondering why they left you. Meanwhile you'll be strutting onward with the confidence necessary to get & keep your Prince.

Action​

Now that you have the proper mindset, it's time to take action.

Translation:
Act like the princess.

Merely believing you're a princess is not enough. You will change the way you are. You will pursue things you want. You will face life boldly and bravely.

Most important, your actions will overcome society.

Remember that cute boy you wanted to talk to, but didn't because your friends might judge you?

This section says F**K YOU to society and any judgments that come along with it.

Would the Queen be scared of talking to a boy she finds attractive?

Hell No! And Neither Should You.
