In this thread https://www.thefastlaneforum.com/off-topic-discussion/29311-read-send-get-rich.html I came up with an idea... And Russ called me out to act on it.
So today, I used the time that was supposed to be dedicated to working on my website to brainstorm it. Couldn't help it, it demands to be done.
Also sent 2shoes an IM asking if he can get that chain letter so we can model it.
What follows is an almost unsorted smattering of concepts, ideals, guidelines, and questions. Nothing is in any way truly concrete, it's just the result of nearly two hour long brainstorming session.
I would clean it up for you, but if I don't post it now, I never will. It's not even a thousands words, so don't fret it.
Please, feel free to get involved.
The idea here is to get people to send off a chain-letter email that says money doesn't buy happiness, then goes on to show a slideshow, then suggests to send the email to 20 friends and go to a specific website on a specific day, because for 24 hours people who follow those steps will become rich.
The website was originally just going to be a countdown clock, and one part that says "If you found your way here without receiving the email that will change your life, click here to get it."
But now I'm thinking each day should have a small MOTD (message of the day). Nothing that quite gives away the surprise, just teasers that build upon the suspense. Upon the websites opening, there can be a section where each MOTD can be viewed.
Anyway, the entire point of the website is to lead those people to an "Aha!" moment. "Aha, I can be wealthy!" "Aha, I don't have to throw my dreams away!" "Aha, my destiny isn't fulfilled until I'm dead!" whatever their aha, the point, the entire point of it is to bring them there, then lead them to take action.
Everyone is capable of enhancing their lives with experience, talents, and to strive to achieve greatness. Without exception, if you are able to understand this website, you have all the power to do so.
But this is where I need help. This is where I need people who have a greater understanding than I do in not only brining people to that level of excitement, to that point of AHA!, but in cementing it when it's there. To lead them down the path of no return, so they can become that marathon runner, so they can create that million dollar product, so they can learn to fly, so they can discover the best way to produce clean drinking water.
Whatever their dreams and aspirations, our goal isn't to show them how to do them. Our goal is simply to make them as fired up as humanly possible, so that their thoughts are like lightning, and they immediately put change into motion.
What change though? That is something else I need help on. I don't know what will best preserve this fire that shoves aside the shadows of their own self-defeating thoughts, so they can always see the path this moment of enlightenment has shown them.
Some ideas for the site: Teach people about mastermind concepts by having them contact the friends who also received this letter, and talk to them about whether or not they have a new take on life- If they did, organize a (insert period of time) meeting to encourage growth and fulfillment.
It is money focused, so I do want the majority of the content to be about how, yes, it IS possible for you to be wealthy, and no, you don't have to sell your soul to do it. Quite the contrary, wealthy people create value, and that is what you must do to become wealthy.
Even so, I hope that the lessons will easily paralell with other aspects of life. For example, to have a strong loving relationship, you must create value- Be supportive, be engaging, show that you are loving. (I'm sure I 'borrowed' that comparison from someone on the Fastlane. Sorry I don't remember who you are, but I credit you in spirit!)
Whatever the content, I want it to work like this:
Build excitement / be fun
Blow minds
Encourage immediate action with new found enlightenment
... Get them to interact with each other and fill the environment with positivity so thick you couldn't drink it through a straw.
Sounds easy, right? I know it's about getting the people to come to realizations on their own. It's rewarding to your brain, but the real art here is being able to lead people to the right questions - Let them find insight about the right things, hint to the right resources.
Random idea/note: Have a clickable button with a positive statement about how the person is taking charge of their destiny, and link it to a growing graph.
"When you first received the email, it asked you to pass it on to twenty friends. Did you do it? If so, did you realize at the time you attempted to impact twenty people? Your success will always cause impact, and causing impact can be a great way to achieve success. To quote MJ Demarco's shortest blog post on creating millions ever: Impact Millions."
I'd like there to be at least one interactive exercise. Something that's short, maybe three or four minutes, easy to do, and interesting.
Cleanup: Hopefully people will leave with passion, and understanding that their lives really don't have to be ordained by what they are now, weather that's taking the off ramp from the slow lane, or becoming the next Bruce Lee. But it might be nice to gift them with something else to act as a memento as well. Perhaps some sort of exercise sheet they filled out, along with inspirational quotes or small stories.
The website is a one day deal, that's pre-ordained. But there will always be people that back up anything which comes from it. Still, there needs to be something that replaces the site after those short few hours have been and gone.
Questions: There are a lot of influential people that may be able to dramatically increase the influx of visitors. Is it against the soul of the project to invite them to do as such? What if the invitation was to send it to their email list?
On that note, who do you think we should run this by to either solicit they add content, or evaluate the website pre-launch?
Should this attempt to be monetized?
What statistics should be tracked?
What about live events?
How much wood could a wood chuck chuck, if a wood chuck was on steroids?
