Due to the nature of this idea of mine, I'll have to be a bit vague throughout this process thread until it gets off the ground.

Current goals for this week:

- Settle on a name for the company

- Secure hosting and a domain for the website, and have a functional website up

- Create a rough plan of action for sales and marketing

Goal for today:
Brainstorm a list of as many potential names as possible until I find the one that clicks.

In the meantime, my break is over at work.

Does anyone have some solid tips for naming a business?

P.s. I feel like the naming process could run the risk of spiralling into action faking. How do I know when to settle?

Try to stick with one word made of 4 to 8 letter (less is better). Don’t make it hard to pronounce.

If you have too long name, your domain will be long....your email will be way too long. People will have hard time dealing with it.

Also, you will have better logo, branding, etc.

Your name doesnt have to explain your business. Its ok to go abstract.

Try to make sure .com and socail media names are available.

It's not so hard to avoid action faking.

Do you really need a website and a name to get your first sale ?

That's a good question. I believe I do as this will be an online services/lead generation type of business. Think upwork

Then it's not action faking, but you should engage the least ressources (money/time/effort) possible to get your first sale, and then pivot from there, IMHO. You can always change the name later, don't put too much pressure on yourself and launch fast !
Good job on taking action btw!
