After emerging from an existential crisis, deep depression, months of endless neurosis and my Mum getting cancer (treatment is going well), my mentality is stronger than ever.
I am so certain about my goals and why, and that I cannot bear to live a normal conventional life. I have a vision and it is of steel.
Here is the problem that stands before me now: which single road do I decide on? I look at the world and see amazing opportunities to provide value, many roads I could choose to reach my goals. I am eager and prepared with enthusiasm and passion. But how do I choose just one? One to commit to, one to master. For choosing one means not choosing every other.
Here is my logic. I need to commit to a single definite purpose, a single road, to achieve mastery and maximum success probabilities. Pursuing ventures sporadically will not allow experience and knowledge to translate effectively between ventures in order to increase success probabilities over time. I would be a fool to pursue content creating, then software development, then product development, then authoring, etc. Surely it is more logical to choose one category to commit to and pursue ventures in that category, as knowledge and xp gained would carry over into subsequent ventures.
I think the difficulty of this choice comes from my understanding of time's finiteness and the significance of my choices. That my decision of which road to commit to is massively powerful, so I better make that decision right!
Now I am focusing on collecting knowledge about the available options and analysing them, relative to me personally. Self assessment about natural talents and traits seem logical to identify road options that I am best suited to. This will let me make an intelligently informed decision for the best road. No man can make an intelligent decision without the facts and analysis of them. I am succeeding at doing this without anxiousness or fluster. But I admit a sense of uneasiness, which I suspect is due to the current lack of a definite purpose and an immense drive to jump into action immediately.
I believe this decision is a major one, and one worth investing time into. However, I think if approached poorly this choice could cause major action paralysis.
Do you have advice on choosing which road to commit to, a definite purpose? Perhaps you did so rashly, perhaps you followed your gut. All suggestions and feedback would be greatly appreciated, and perhaps this thread can help others in this position to.
