My pool company only comes once every 2 weeks, so in between visits leaves accumulate in the pool.

Our leaf skimmer was broken and I sought to buy one on Amazon.

The one I bought cost twice as much as most offers... I paid $60 for a pool net, most offers were in the $29/range.

Why did I buy the one that cost twice as much? Rip off?

The one I bought offered a lifetime warranty and had great reviews.

When I received the product, it gave me TWO opportunities to register the product, as well as an offer for "Free Stuff." (See pic)

These enticements are how you can bypass Amazon's control over your customer.

With these QR codes, this company can now get my information, and add me to their customer list.

If you're running products via Amazon FBA, this is an absolutely MUST.

Use a lead magnet to get your customer from Amazon and onto your list. Free gifts, free PDF, extended warranties, whatever you need to do, get the customer email.

Your list is incredibly valuable, and the larger it is, the more you can grow and control your sales, customers, and organizational processes.

Amazon can be a necessary evil, so do what you can to get that customer name.

I'm not sure if this is standard rote in FBA circles (it likely is) but I thought it worth mentioned for many of us who might casually use FBA (like myself).

I'll remember this, should I ever create a physical product.

I swear, I wish I didn't get into local service to chase easy money.

Smart move, that would be an awesome tactic to create to bypass amazons control. I remember sometimes when you buy products from Amazon. People did insert cards saying to leave them a good review. Instead of leaving a review do exactly this tactic or at least add something of value like you said the lead magnet would work well with a PDF.

Definitely definitely gotta try this.

It's never too late to change gears...

Make a plan. Execute that plan.

QR codes have been a common practice in FBA products since 2020 (as far as I remember). Since then, an increasing number of sellers started using it and Amazon couldn't deal with banning shady QR code practices so now Amazon has included an email marketing feature that sellers can use to communicate with their customers. You still can't see their emails though.
