Hi Fastlaners,

First post bar my intro and it just so happens to be a (potentially) controversial one ...

Some may find this immoral ... Others not ... Some may find this a good business idea ... Others not.

My business idea has to do with the online adult webcam industry ...

I am only here seeking the rational input of other fastlaners on this (not original) business idea that came to me through a series of events ...

An agency for webcam girls.

You set up girls with a platform on LiveJasmin or some other adult site and take a 30% cut of there total money ...

You promote them, get them set up, manage there accounts/payments and provide community support through What's app ...

I'm telling you now, some women are making INSANE money by being webcam girls (Upwards of $2000 per week is very common for just 4 hours per day 4 days per week)

*Being in a big network of "Instagram models" I can tell you firsthand that a lot of the "Insta Fame" girls travelling the world taking a$$ pics are actually funding there trips/lavish lifestyle through webcamming despite what they promote on there social media ...

Backstory:

This idea came about after a female friend telling me on the hush how she had been doing webcam work and is thinking of quitting her current role to do this full time ...

After she told me what she was making (Around $100 per hour in the first few weeks) for just sitting in front of her laptop at home in her underwear, I have to say I could not blame her for not wanting to turn up to her $15 per hour admin job ...

She told me she originally signed up through an agency and they take 30% commissions ...

She said there is 30 girls in just her whats app group alone! I ran the math quickly in my head and dollar signs went off in my head ...

She also mentioned 3 of her friends are also doing it ...

I told her the math of what this agency was making just off those what she told me her and her friends make ...

And then said, why don't we start our own one?

Through my network and hers, we know of girls who would actually want to do this given the financial incentive ...

But past that I'm not certain how you would go about collecting leads to sign up to your agency (obvs ads on Google, FB, Insta etc are a no)

Any ideas on how we could collect girls to join our agency? To scale basically?

What do you think of this idea fastlaners? Ready to be shot down if neccessary.

I’m going to say no, simply because it appears you are chasing money.

Do you believe in the product? Do you care care about the welfare of the girls? Do you care about the end user’s experience?

Or do you just see some dollar signs?

Welcome Scott,

You won't get banned for this haha. I think porn is despicable and I would personally never work in the adult industry. But people are going to watch and obviously there is a demand.

Through my network and hers, we know of girls who would actually want to do this given the financial incentive ...

Just start with your personal network. You don't need to worry about getting other "leads" yet.

Start with your one friend and work your way up to getting the other 30 girls on board.

But I have some questions:
  • What will distinguish your agency?
  • What value will you provide that cannot be found in other agencies already?
  • What value will you provide the webcam girls through your agency?
Managing accounts/payments is not enough because that doesn't seem difficult enough to warrant hiring an agency. Promotion seems like the way to go. How will you go about promoting the webcam girls?
  • What value will the webcam girls provide their viewers to distinguish them from the other girls?
  • Is it that difficult for webcam girls to get started that they need an agency? Isn't the point of webcam girl platforms like LiveJasmin to make it easy for girls to get started on their own?
  • Is there a spin or value skew you can create? Or focusing on a particular niche within webcam work?
I know VR porn is going to be huge. Are there girls who do VR webcam work?

I don't know much about the industry, but it seems like most of the people who watch webcam girls do it because it feels "real" and they can interact with the girls. VR would add another dimension of realism.

Just an idea.

You won't get banned, fair question, fair idea. For many here it just won't be their cup of tea.

@BaraQueenbee would be the expert here for idea viability.

The issue in the next 5 years is the lack of accessibility for the consumers.

The VR industry is evolving quickly, but the hardware costs and requirements (decent pc) are too high right now (and in the following years) for the average porn consumer to warrant the costs only for that need.

There's really big changes coming in the next generation of VR headsets, but they still won't be affordable. The only affordable ones (mostly mobile ones or Windows VR certified ones) are cheap, mostly blurry or causing headaches if used for too long.

The biggest thing I would work on is promoting the agency by focussing on the respect for the cam girls, the friendly vibe and transparent management of their earnings, stats, etc. I would develop the VR part of it once the agency is known for its values.

Just my $0.02 !

How are you planning on bypassing Sesta/Fosta?

Which payment method?
I'm setting up in the UK so while I know a similar Sesta style policy was talked about in our government ... I don't believe it went/is going any further.

In regards to the payment method I was thinking just to pay the girls via bank transfer?

Thanks for the value, appreciate it!

Yes I agree there does need to be a value skew, I was thinking focusing on having a supportive community based atmosphere and also provide top earner incentives.

E.g. I have access to a gorgeous villa in Spain and I was thinking some kind of monthly competition (only in summertime) where top earners get flown out and can work from the villa in Spain ... Creating stuff like that.

Also providing the set up, management, payment and promotion of each account.

What do you guys/girls think?

And anymore ideas on how I could scale this beyond our personal networks (assuming Google, FB/Insta ads are a no-go)

Most definitely care for the welfare of the girls and that would be one of my main value skews - creating a supportive community based atmosphere with real world incentives for the girls (see above post)

But of course there seems to be big potential financial incentive for both us and the girls too

Not my thing, but I will say if you can effectively reduce the number of underage girls involved that's a positive in my book.

I am supportive of the adult industry. I see it as legitimate business where there is a fair exchange of value.

I am totally shocked that guys are paying money for this, paying money to girls whom they cannot touch. Haha.

You’re a digital pimp.

Read the 48 laws of pimpin by pimpin ken.

You need to have a great Instagram like a pimp has a nice suit and a nice car. Build up an image and then start messaging girls on Instagram. “Damn girl, looking like that should get you pullin $500 a day doing nothing. I can show you how. I’ll have you living like me in no time sweet thang”

It’s literally just digital pimpin. Nothing to do with “actually caring” and “offering value”. It’s pimpin. Genius way to make money nowadays.

Thank God women like Bardot Smith, Heaux Mentor, myself and dozens of more are speaking out very loudly to not fall for this pimpin'
Pimpin sounds like you're lazy and missing the 1900's where women are property.

With that being said:

I'm setting up in the UK so while I know a similar Sesta style policy was talked about in our government ... I don't believe it went/is going any further.

In regards to the payment method I was thinking just to pay the girls via bank transfer?

That's cool, but unless you plan or market only in Europe, you'll have to know more about that (since US is biggest market).

Yes I agree there does need to be a value skew, I was thinking focusing on having a supportive community based atmosphere and also provide top earner incentives.

But HOW actually. Right now this sounds very abstract and you elaborate more on some potential prizes for big earners rather than explaining in depth your understanding of the girls' their needs.

And anymore ideas on how I could scale this beyond our personal networks (assuming Google, FB/Insta ads are a no-go)

I am going to go with the benefit of the doubt, and assume you mean well. But without actually showing some proper business idea/concept, now asking for tips and such. It just feels "meh'.

It's ok if you don't care for the moral part of the well being of those who can make you potentially a lot money (be cautious, you need them, they don't need you, since you have nothing but an idea so far), but be honest about it. At least towards yourself.

P.s. Start with finding a bank that would even accept adult industry. Currently since the new law changes (including those in the UK) this is going to be close to impossible unless you have some capital and a proper network.

It would be interesting if you could as a part of your agency, include benefits such as health benefits, , retirement accounts, and some type of mandatory financial education that they must go to to remain within the agency. Or instead of just taking 30% of the cut, take 25% and put 5% into retirement accounts or investment accounts. Manage their money for them and help them make better decisions because we all know that this is a short term thing for them so they need to be intelligently investing their money.

That's actually a very good spin on a somewhat basic approach to a lucrative idea. This can actually be applied to a lot of different niches.

Don't model yourself on a pimp, they are quite literally the lowest form of human garbage. It baffles me why they are so revered, especially in the US.

Pimp = Scum.

Any ideas on how we could collect girls to join our agency? To scale basically?

I posted this on another thread - Cobra

Some guy did exactly what you're described - and apparently made millions doing it. He put his experience into a course and claims to be seeing results from his students. Perhaps it would be something to consider, as it's a carbon-copy of what you've suggested.

--
Whilst you won't get "banned" or anything, the key thing you have to understand is that what you're proposing is NOT a real business (no leveragable assets). There's no point trying to sugar-coat it -- you're renting out "chat" time with moderately hot women and are acting as a middleman ('pimp').

All the BS about health benefits etc is a non-entity - let them sort that out themselves.

What you need to be looking at is profit - getting them PAID. If you really wanted to do this on a serious level, your core "value" in the exchange is how you're able to help them make more money than other outlets.

If you want girls to sign up (especially hot ones), you need to make it a profitable proposition for them... which means more than "managing" their LiveJasmin account. What will you actually do?

If your answer to this is regular dental checkups and access to a villa in Spain, the business will implode, as your biggest earners will just quit. If you look at the likes of BabeStation etc, you'll find a strong retinue of "regular" actresses, who are exclusive to those channels. Their success is dependent on the success of the station they're working for. Since you don't have control over that, you'll need to find another way to make yourself useful.
--

Several observations from a business perspective:
  1. Low value - whilst you could make a lot of cash (if you have hot models), the money won't last like it would in a product-based business. It's a virtual strip club. This is NOT a problem on its own, but you'll find it difficult to scale (unless you're able to get the girls in front of more $$).

  2. Depreciating assets
The only thing that separates your agency from the many others is the "performance" the actresses put on. Considering this performance is closely linked to looks, each of your models is going to have a shelf-life of ~5 years if they're lucky. If you're looking to make this into a proper business, you'll need to take any money you make and put it into something worthwhile as the ride - whilst fast - likely won't last. Your biggest "asset" (the sex appeal of your models) is diminishing on a daily basis.

  3. Hoards of idiots
I don't understand why a grown man would send money to a girl getting her tits out on webcam. If you're at that level in your life, perhaps you've got bigger issues... but people do it, and it's very lucrative. The point is that many of the customers for this type of thing are not going to stick around for a cross-sell about life insurance or some shit. You'll be best using the money to fund a legitimate asset-centric business, which you're able to leverage for decades. Not to p*** on your parade, but this type of thing doesn't last.
--
Ultimately, it's a decent idea --- BUT I would strongly consider where "you" fit into the equation.

As you're a fellow Brit, here's a good example of something you may want to look at - Shop assistant to fashion designer - how Briony turned £100 to £100k in 6 months

Briony lives relatively close to me and apparently made £100k from her instagram account. This is the type of thing you want to be noticing. If you can replicate that with other girls, you got yourself a real business (as your "asset" is the way through which you're able to grow their social following + backend business... not the girl's looks on their own).

I don't find Briony attractive, but it's apparent that many do (both male and female)... enough to buy her swimwear. You do that with other Briony's and I guarantee your agency will be in demand.

Pimp My Ride was originally an American show even though it was popular here in the UK.

I remember P.I.M.P song by Fiddy and Snoop, if you say to someone man that's pimping! it's a compliment, and I see this a lot. In my 20s I saw it and I still see it today, somehow the pimp lifestyle is seen as cool and respectable and it just bloody baffles me.

Someone should make a course teaching these women how to pimp themselves and make all the money.

With that said a lot of them will happily pay 30% to have someone do it for them.
One of the reasons I don't go to Instagram any more is that MANY girls on there, even as young as 15-16 are dangerously near the pimping paradigm.

Every day, so many photos of girls in skimpy wear and suggestive shots appear on my feed, no matter how many times I try to filter my search settings or delete/report this and that.

It's one thing to model, sponsor or review designer clothes, but when all they do is post 'bare' photos SEVERAL times a week for no reason at all...

There are a handful of Mentors currently (female) who offer these courses and one-on-one guidance (and yes they are banking), but mostly cause they have proved to really have safe connections, introduce to "safe" environments and they are REALLLY honest about the harmful and negative side of the whole industry.
