Prayers and good vibes seem good idea...sorry I'm not religious and trust scientific approach more.

Is he getting appropriate medical treatment thought, maybe his condition can be improved?
Cause nobody should suffer or even fight for their own life at the hospital.

Found some research paper about using high-flow oxygen with severe covid cases,
it proves that with all this risk can be reduced by 51%

Anyone heard anything? Been several weeks. Hard to believe this shit started over 6 months ago.

I wanted to ask for an update a few hours ago but I've been sick with COVID since yesterday and it's been beating me up.

I have even more sympathy for @Runum now as yesterday I felt the sickest in my life. This shit can really mess you up.

Another Fake Leg Greg anniversary. One year ago I finally left the Brownsville hospital . I took my broken body for an 8 hour ride in the back of an ambulance to Fort Worth. We tried to work out air transport but couldn't get the logistics figured out. 1 year later, I can now chew and swallow. My jaw muscles and tongue had to relearn the whole process. I can swallow liquids without choking. I can talk although the stroke has left my facial muscles affected and the trach process has scarred my throat and left me with this cool Clint Eastwood voice. I can sit up and stand up without assistance. I have the strength to stand and walk without supports. I have the ability to drive again. I can also scratch when itch and roll over in bed when I want to. I don't even have to have my wife shave me or hold my hand when putting food in my mouth. I can also open twist off caps off of bottles without having someone loosen it first.

I have walked about 25 miles in the last 4 weeks and recently walked my first mile in less than 30 minutes. People are taking note of my progress in the gym., they saw me wheel in and work out with one leg last fall.

This is my period of celebration of me regaining my independence and freedom. Sorry if you guys get tired of hearing about this.
Not going to get tired of hearing you recover bit by bit! Congrats on the recovery, and keep going!

Man, you have come a long ways! Impressive biz execution. The HIV thing sucks. I hope you find the correct therapy to address this.

I am still here. Nights are brutal. I cannot sit up without oxygen. I am fighting a sinus infection. I am on oxygen 24/7. I am hooked up to monitors also. I am monitored all night with little human interaction. The brain never stops thinking and has nothing to do. I listen to audio books for distraction. Nights are so lonely, scary, and quiet. Just you trying to see the sunrise and the brain that is not finding the solutions. I am concerned that this is not a linear fight. I m concerned about setbacks.

Thank you for keeping us updated.

Do these cycles of feeling better/worse last a few hours each? 8 hours ago you wrote that you felt better and now it seems you feel worse. Or is it the nights that are always challenging?

Have you requested monoclonal therapy already? Did they even tell you which variant you contracted? I read they don't recommend monoclonal therapy for Omicron.

Fda just froze monoclonal treatments. Doc is refusing.

I read they only did this because it doesn't work well on Omicron?

Any other treatment options?

If you ever feel alone, know there are people here all over the world rooting for you. Before I went to bed last night you were in my thoughts for well wishes. Feel free to use the forum as your source for whatever connection you might need, if you need to vent, share some thoughts, or just have an outlet for your mind. No one should have to be alone while they battle illness, and we won't let it. That fact the you feel well enough to share your thoughts during your struggle gives me great hope you'll get through it!

Rooting for @Runum from Europe.

I saw that Greg hadn't posted here or on Facebook in a while, so I checked his wife's page and she just posted this 1 minute ago:
To all of Greg B******s Facebook friends. Greg took a bad turn early Sunday morning. He is now in ICU, on a ventilator, heavily sedated with high doses of pain meds. His heart rate was too high, and he couldn't breathe. We covet your prayers when you think about him.

Update on Greg B****** We have been on hold for a few days waiting for the tracheostomy and pic line surgery. They are planning on doing it today, along with the amputation. They have not given me a time yet. As soon as they tell me, I will let you prayer warriors know. Thank you so much for your continued prayers and support. Today will be a tough day for Greg.

Yikes, not very good news. The trache at least should be temporary and decrease the risk of infections.

New update 3 June.

The address below is not Greg's home address, which is why I am ok posting it here, but I am going to delete the address after 24 hours so that I don't leave up potentially outdated info for future readers. If you don't see an address after June 4, just DM me for current mailing address.
What a great idea. I’ll send a note shortly.
