A great post on another forum, that I thought I would share here:
Posted by Jon over at Affliate Marketing website.... enjoy

"Its very simple, but will likely come off as batshit crazy and/or too cynical to those whom read this without any real education in modern business, finance, human psychology and/or a functioning rational human mind.

If your goal in life is to be rich/wealthy or anything less than being part of the actual ruling class, then you are going to lose and this game isn't really for you at all.

I highly doubt most of you reading this will have the stomach or heart for playing this game for real. Most people think they can do it, but realize later that its just too tough or the odds are just not in their favor, so they quit. I cannot blame anyone for quitting. Its an exceptionally tough game to play and conquer. However, those who continue to play, never giving up or giving in, will learn what it truly means to be successful.

Those of you whom have family members or friends, or may even be there themselves, that believe in the myth of "job security" will also have a tough time accepting this as fact. That's fine too, because we need you drones to continue doing your drone thing so that we may benefit from it.

Facts you must accept in order to fully become a rich and powerful bastard in America:

- America is not a country, its a business.
- There are no nation states, only corporations vying for control.
- Democracy is a myth the populous must believe in and focus on to their core.
- All news, politics, and government = bullshit.
- Everything is for sale.
- Everyone has a price.
- Money is not real, it is merely a tool we use to keep score and use as accountable leverage.
- Credit & debt = leverage.
- The game begins when you are born.
- The game ends when you die.
- All men are created equally. (We are all born human, after that, we are no longer equal.)
- Democrats, Republicans, Independents, and Liberals = the spoon. (ie. film The Matrix)
- The system is not broken, as it was never designed to handle the modern game of life/business in the first place.
- Profit is okay.
- Growth is amazing.
- Losses are mehh (live to fight another day).
- Never trust commercial banks with your money. (private banks are better)
- Never invest in anything related to the casino on Wall Street unless you are part of their club.
- There are far larger profits to be made outside of Wall Street.
- Regulation is the enemy of all corporations and monopolies.
- Capitalism is a mindset standard that we use as a shield to get out of trouble.
- The Free Market is a myth. Only sheep like competitors. And We know what happens to sheep.
- Cheap money is our friend.
- All problems and crises are opportunities to profit.
- Slow and steady is for building absolute and true wealth.
- Perception is everything.
- Greed is not good, ITS AWESOME!
- The loudest in the room, is also the weakest. (ie. those that brag/showoff, the self-proclaimed gurus and experts of any field.)
- Aggressive and ruthless is the only way to truly win.
- Winning is all that matters.
- You must compartmentalize your business and personal lives as much as possible. Both are games, but they must not mix. Instead find a balance between the two to stay sharp.
- In life, show respect only to those that earn it or deserve it.
- In life, treat others the way they may treat you.
- You are not invincible or smarter than everyone, so act accordingly.
- The world and life is not fair, accept it and move on.
- Karma is for the weak and far too slow anyway, do what you must but only if its worth it.
- People want to be heard, but will never wake up, so don't waste time on them anyway.

(These are purely from my book of success that I've learned and crafted over the years. Some are lines from films, songs, articles I've come across and applied to my game. I've held some of the REALLY good stuff back, as I don't want to give that out for free. I've also kept things general, as going in-depth would give you leverage over me, and I'm not a fan of that.)

Game on, my foolish friends!

Now, now.. tread lightly with politics in postings, even if its not your own words. First red flag on this post was that its from an affiliate marketing forum. I personally don't agree with most of what "jon" had to say.
In life, show respect only to those that earn it or deserve it.
I'm gonna respect someone within reason even if they didn't earn it.

Alot of this quote just doesn't sit well with me. :muted:

Yeah, these 3 quotes totally contradict each other.

There are some fundamental truths there, I'd go as far to say that about the majority, but there are some untruths as well.

IMO, the fact that this user spends his time at an "affiliate marketing" forum is an oxymoron. AM is the ultimate slave/slaver relationship.

You're either "the man" OR you're serving "the man".

- Aggressive and ruthless is the only way to truly win.

Not true.

Many truths here pertaining to the road to real success. But as far as discrediting the guy because he posted it on an AM forum (specifically if it was one of the paid ones, which are top notch) I cannot do that. My very short (3~ month) stint in affiliate marketing not only made me very confident in terms of my own abilities to run traffic, negotiate deals, and increase CTR/CR/EPC's across the board, but it has also helped in many other ways which I'll just keep to myself. Just like anything in life, take all of the GOOD from the things you do and build up your perfect system. Take the most POWERFUL characteristics from the greats, and leave behind the ones that suck.

I understand what you're saying -- and agree -- I just find it ironic to find it on an AM board. I feel it's like someone on a frugality/cheapskate forum telling me how to become a millionaire by penny pinching and coupons.

I'm not discrediting the learning experience of AM, just as I would not discredit someone who learns some awesome skills while employed at some corporate job.

However, whenever you engage in a subordinate relationship with a business, you learn everything to the DIRECT benefit of someone else, the INDIRECT benefit is passed to you. When you apply that experience to your own product/service/software, then the benefit becomes DIRECTLY leveraged to you, and not PASSED-THRU.

This list clearly advocates the reader to be your own man, to think big, and to blaze your own path -- not be a 100% commissioned sales person in some corporate hierarchy.

To be fair, it was posted by the guy that owns the forum, who has long since left AM behind, if you believe what he posts.

- In life, show respect only to those that earn it or deserve it.

So we should disrespect others until they finally prove themselves? Does that really make sense?

If you follow that premise then you will not make a lot of friends and be very unpopular. It works against your own interests.

I personally follow the opposite; you should treat others with respect until you find a reason not to. If you do find a reason to disrespect then you remove them from your life.

My personal philosophy is to extend benevolence and interest to others. Take it from me, from someone who has been to hell and back, adopt a friendly, happy and compassionate attitude to life and you will be the luckiest man alive. Trust me. Good things will happen.

This is a scientific FACT, not some made up BS. Happy people are LUCKIER, get more breaks, live longer, are more successful than non happy people, make more money, have more friends and think better.

I remember Marc Cuban said that even if he failed at business it was all fun for him. What does that say? Could it be that he was happy? probably.

Good post though.

A lot of you seem to think that affiliate marketing isn't good for anything else than just learning the basics of online business, and in a way, I agree.

But here's the thing; When it comes to affiliate marketing; your website is the product. You shouldn't be focusing on 'selling some other dude's product for amazing commissions', you should focus on perfecting your own website and methods. And once you become really good, it's not difficult to cut the middle man and swap the affiliate offers for your own product... and a lot of the most successful affiliates do this. But even if you don't, you can still make very respectable amounts of money.

I think I hear some Lewis Lapham-ness in there. I have to agree somewhat though based on Man's cunning, ruthless, and territorial nature, but I don't think that way is the only way to achieve success in business and especially life in general. My experience has been the exact opposite in fact. Once I started providing more to my customers (and my family) than they expected is when the tide turned for me. Family, fitness, freedom truly is a better approach, and more fulfilling than being an omnipotent, ruthless scumbag.

Creating actual value is a logical argument. It has lasting power...much more so then looking over your shoulder for the rest of your life. It has "soft power" - it makes others want to willingly follow, which is true power...that might be important if you hope to be a "future world dominator" as your handle suggests.

Still though you must be able to navigate through the shark infested waters and recognize what others' motivations are for sure.

Some solid advice. At least a few. Mixed with the regular cold thinking belief to wealth. Just how I see the list, though.

Peace.

Aggressive and ruthless is the only way to truly win.
No son, you must have had really bad experiences in your past. Or a really scary dream last night.

In life, show respect only to those that earn it or deserve it.
- In life, treat others the way they may treat you.
- You are not invincible or smarter than everyone, so act accordingly.
- The world and life is not fair, accept it and move on.
Respect others but mostly hang out only with those who resonate with your vision.

Karma is for the weak and far too slow anyway, do what you must but only if its worth it.
Karma is a myth, one of many tools to install fear. But do it for the greater good of a bigger vision, not just for you. If you're not making a positive impact, you might be rich but not wealthy, you might have power & control, not peace of mind!
