We all had that moment ,

"I WANT THAT CAR!"

The thing that flamed up your entrepreneurial spirit.
For MJ it was the Lamborghini Countach.

For me it's the Lotus Exige 380.
Lotus-Exige_Sport_380-2017-ig.jpg

Saw it driving by while i was sitting on the bus and made me skip an heartbeat
This baby looks and drives like a space ship.
And it would cost me 30,000 EUR to buy one ( second hand).

So what's YOUR car / object that woke you up and made you the person you are.

( Note : I'm well aware that people don't only work for a car and that there are other reasons to chase success in life .)

It's freedom for me. Material objects fall further down the list and stem from freedom anyhow.

When you're free and have your health, you can buy the car you dreamed of, the house, the toys, etc.

Would I love a brand new Tahoe or or a Maserati?

Absolutely.

But that's not what gets me out of bed in the morning.

Same.
My biggest fear is being boxed in a shitty life and not being able to do things i want.
Freedom is my nr 1 reason too.

It's got wheels, that counts right?

I've never been a car guy, I'll be happy with a Tacoma all day every day. But the thing that makes my heart skip a beat is when I see this pretty lady on the taxi way at my local airport.

This is the first "I've made it" purchase I'll buy when money isn't a worry.

Funny you should mention that. I was talking with one of the famous fast laners last week, and he is in pilot school. He sent me a photo of the plane he is buying, and he will be taking his solo flight log in his own plane.

That's something I'd love to be able to do. Besides, learning in your own plane saves $100/HR in rental costs, so you know, cost effective.

He was trying to tell me how cost effective it was. Made me smile.

In Arizona there are many housing communities with private airstrips where you can have your own hanger for your plane. I'd be a liar if I said I haven't looked into them. We talk about freedom here -- but having your own plane in your own hanger right next to your house, now that's freedom!

Not a damn thing about flying GA (general aviation) is cost effective!

But a Cessna 172 for $50,000. Get monthly payments of around $600/mo.

Complete your PPL in 3 months. You save ~50 hours x $100-120/hr in aircraft rental. That's $5000 on low estimate. That minus your $1,200 + ~$200/mo ish insurance. That's $3,400 in savings.

Throw in your instrument rating that's even more savings.

Either keep the plane and still save on rental time if you plan on doing at least 2 hours per week in flying.

Or sell the plane for close to what you paid for it.

Got to factor in your operating and maintenance costs. And the cool new headset. And the cool new flightbag. And the cool new handheld. And let's just fly up to so and so.....
Already have my license. Just need to get current (and find the time to do so!). The new rules on medicals should help..... guess I need to look back into this and update the budget!

Worse than a yacht? I thought the yacht was the kind of all money pits.

When I first came to the forum, I had grand plans I announced for the car I "was going to buy on that day."

Now that I can buy it, I don't want it. Maybe I don't need it, motivation-wise. Not sure.

My next ride is going to be a slightly used Lincoln MKZ. Cash.

Not much of a car guy. Never really cared about the flash of car.
But I have been eyeing motorcycles recently. And I don't ride but I want one so bad.
The 2014 Honda Valkyrie has been calling to me for some time now.

Does that thing transform and save the planet?
Looks sick!

Not particularly a car, but you can ride these things on a 7 1/2" railroad in your back yard. The freedom to build my own railroad is what I'm seeking.

If we're talking cars, it'd be a Ferrari 458, not interested in much else.

I've never been into cars. Just a simple Tesla Model S
2016_tesla_model-s_sedan_p90d_fq_oem_1_1280.jpg

Honestly I'd need at least $1 million before I ever cared enough to spend $100k on a car though. It doesn't motivate me, just happens to be a car I like.

A used Nissan GT-R for starters. I'm going to void the warranty with mods.

A new Ferrari 488 GTB. Drive and go!

The Nissan is all wheel drive which gives it practical uses, the Ferrari is RWD twin turbo with no trunk space, so it can't be my daily driver.
