Hi guys,
I had been thinking about writing a post on this forum for a while now, so I guess I will share my journey so far.
So I am 24 years old at the moment, about to turn 25 in a month. I read MJ's Millionaire Fastlane book around last year June while I was on holiday in Melbourne for a long weekend. I currently live in New Zealand and work as an engineer. I'm making an okay salary at NZD 80k a year, but it's nothing extraordinary.
It was around the final year of high school that I thought to myself I needed to create a business. At the time, I really wanted to become a professional football player, so my reasoning was that I would create a profitable Shopify store so I wouldn't have to work at a job and I could practise football all day. While setting up the Shopify store, I got intimidated by all the tax information I needed to fill out, so that was the end of that.
It was since the beginning of 2025 that I really started to commit to the Fastlane journey (even though I hadn't read the Millionaire Fastlane). Before this, I had tried various things: I wrote a personal finance book, made self-development social media channels, etc. I have been basically working on the Fastlane almost every day since then, whether it's reading about something business related or working on a project.
I was on a trip in Japan in Jan 2025 and found all these powerbank rental stations everywhere. The company is called ChargeSpot. This didn't exist in NZ (at least that was what I thought
), so I wanted to bring this to NZ. I contacted a manufacturer in Shenzhen, China, and ordered a sample. Long story short, I cold called a bunch of places, from sports centres to restaurants. I only managed to get 2 venues to agree to setting up a powerbank rental station there (a swimming pool and a badminton centre). Insurance was also a struggle because of the high fire risk from the lithium batteries. I also decided to stop due to the high fire risk.
One day, while I was at work, I heard some people complaining that they were sick of all the files everywhere in job folders. I decided to create an app that could visualise file structures called orbis11. As I was coding the app, I also found people wanting to visualise file structures. Once I released the beta version of my app, I replied to the thread. A few people replied, with one person saying he would use it a lot. I tried to message these people further for feedback, but didn't get any responses. I haven't worked on the app too much as I'm not sure if it's really worth the time. I was thinking about making a web version of orbis11 (currently it is a desktop app) integrated with AI to generate file structures, but not really sure it's going to be that useful.
A few weeks later, I got a notification about how I got a subscriber on my because of a civil 3d (a civil engineering design software) tutorial I made . So I went from 11 subs to 12 subs lol. This was about 3 months ago. Then a few days later I got another sub, and another. It was a very weird feeling because I had tried on many occasions to get subscribers on YT before (self-development channels) but never succeeded. Fast forward to today, I have 329 subscribers on my YouTube channel (it's mainly videos about some civil engineering software tutorials, modelling, and other tech related things). Most of my subscribers are from the Civil 3D tutorials. This is probably the most amount of success I've had, which feels encouraging but also kinda depressing at the same time.
My emotionally compelling vision is:
So now I'm at a point where I'm not exactly sure what I should do. I'm still creating my YT videos and trying to upload on a weekly basis. Other than that, I'm just reading and trying to learn new things. But yeah, any feedback or insights would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

My emotionally compelling vision is:
- Live in my own standalone house in a nice, clean, and quiet neighbourhood with my family. There is a deck and pergola plus a nice, private garden with fruit trees.
- I’m self-employed and and I can decide my own schedule - I’m not locked down in one place.
- I have 500oz of gold, liquid. (The reason I'm measuring in gold is because I don't want to measure in a fiat currency that erodes in purchasing power over time)
- I have 3 investment properties that cash flow.
So now I'm at a point where I'm not exactly sure what I should do. I'm still creating my YT videos and trying to upload on a weekly basis. Other than that, I'm just reading and trying to learn new things. But yeah, any feedback or insights would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
