Hello all,

I have just realized that men grooming products business is really fit for my country where I born. I want to make a hair clay/pomende brand. I think it will be hard to manufacture myself to get products. So I would like to get third party suppliers. IF you guys know any of clay hair styling products manufactures, pls do let me know.

What makes your pomade different than the literally hundreds of others?

I think there is little innovation left in the hair product game. Maybe using better products and marketing differently.

What country are you looking at growing the product in?

Also, I believe in Canada, you usually get a chemist to build your solution.

Asia especially Indonesia, Myanmar etc.

Yes agree. It is not only hair product games but also Men's Grooming Game. Nowadays, men become super interested in grooming.

You should find and plan out a different marketing angle for this before finding or making pomades.

Nowadays everyone and their dog are getting into the men's hair grooming scene and selling their homemade pomade. Not sure about Myanmar. Maybe the men's hairstyling market there isn't as saturated.

Yeah I had a friend who wanted to get into the game.

Personally in North America, I would go for hyper targeted promotins and probably super local. Try to fit the promade in with a city's culture or something. Maybe try selling it to smaller hair stylists and see if their clients like it.

It is very good that you are developing and striving to start your own business, but the beauty industry, and let alone the manufacturing of care products, is already thus developed that it will be hard to surprise the market.

This also adds a "Made locally" factor. In Quebec this is a huge market, because people associate local stuff with non-toxic and to them that also means bio products.

do your market research first. indonesia, myanmar cambodia, thailand phillippines is a huge huge market but thistype may already be saturated. Unless you are bringing something organic or something extraordinary you may be burning a lot of midnight oil. Maybe read up on @AllenCrawley threads before you start.

Considering the industry and where you're located, you may want to start small and local. BUT do your research first. If you decide to move forward, I'd encourage you to make your own products. As you grow you can scale by using contract manufacturers or scale up your operation with larger/better equipment, etc.

BUT first things first. Research the market and determine if you can skew enough value attributes in your favor to compete in a very competitive market. (If you haven't read @MJ DeMarco's Unscripted book yet, you need to get it and read immediately.)
