Why would someone need 19 bathrooms?

Haha. Thanks for the video. If I ever bought a house for that much, I am 99.99% sure it won't be in Illinois, no matter who has lived there ..and I live in Illinois.

Heck, my first semi-luxurious home (over $1m) won't even be in Illinois. Lake Geneva, WI is where it's at around here.

I think it's pretty ugly. I've never been a fan of the contemporary "Jetson's" styling. I'm more of a big timber lodge kinda guy. Love the cigar room / library.

Being in IL, I'm sure the taxes are about $250K/year. :smxD:

(Interesting side note: I actually worked at the neighbors' house when it was under construction -- I was a construction worker/day laborer at the time. The site of the property brings back some unpleasant memories of a job a hated. )

Is it because it's in Illinois that he is trying to get rid of it?

That could be a reason. Even super rich people like Tiger Woods have moved to States like Florida specifically to avoid taxes and Phil Mickelson another golfer.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/robertw...ved-too-says-mickelson-was-right-about-taxes/

They can clearly afford to live anywhere in the country(or world) but probably just don't want to feel like they are being ripped off.

I'm sure taxes are insane on the MJ house . I'm sure he can afford it ,but maybe just wants to downsize or live somewhere else.

I had to do a study on taxes in Illinois. From what I remember, MJ paid around $165k/yr in taxes. I believe the highest was somewhere around $260k/yr on the North shore.

MJ's house has been on the market forever and has received additional press because of this auction his brokers are going to try. From what I understand, he hasn't lived in it for years.

Frankly, anyone who is purchasing a $22 million dollar house can do much better than this house IMO.

Playing through that flu game, enduring rejections from basketball teams in college and high school, winning MVPs, 6 NBA championships, grinding year in and out for many years, enduring through lots of practice days to better his abilities, pouring out tons of sweat, tons of tears, and enduring through tons of injuries. Not to mention, MJ had tons of passion for playing the game, and most of all, providing value to his teammates, owner, people of Chicago... just so MJ can buy this house?

I would say it's worth it. ;)

Please keep me dedicated and smart, so that I too within 5 or so years can buy property worth tens of millions of dollars.

Thank you!

Slightly annoying when such huge houses are left empty, should do something like free day trips there to charity but I suppose its the fact people are in your house, I don't know?
