So this can be quite interesting, maybe my writing is something that I need to work on and sales pitches, as I'm not native in English. I tried on Upwork, but so far there were no replies and I was thinking that my writing is a bit off, different and not something that many people would write.

I've worked with more than 8000k$ daily ad spend for some company, optimized a lot of pages and I deeply understand the eCommerce, seo and especially facebook advertising. Self projects taught me how to fail and how to not give up. How to think outside the box and many other things.

Maybe I'm just bad at explaining why I'm the right one for the job?

Is that because the writing is all about you? Try writing something like " I can help you to solve XXX problem", " What you get is XXX if you hire me". Try thinking of how you can solve a problem for your clients, rather than what you did in the past.

In addition, it will always be better if you include some testimonials of your previous clients and the results of your work.

I tried upwork with the same exact results, so I took my skills to other platforms. Upwork is crazy competitive.

Upwork is a numbers game on the outbound. I had to submit 15 apps to get one conversation.

Inbound was different. I found that I got a lot of requests when I specialized in something that isn't super common like Googly Tag Manager setup.

Copy needs to be you focused and use language directly from their description. Look at Lex Devil's threads. The proposals I submitted that led to jobs were the ones that I talked specifically about all the points they mention.

If they say "I'm looking for x to do y and z."
I say "I will deliver x that will allow you to do y and then I'll ensure z." It's pretty simple.

Also look for little things they might relate to. Maybe they mention their location and your mom lives there. Mention you go there twice a year and you love the area.

Is that what you’ve written to people? It comes across wrong. Do you mean $8k/day or $8million/day? Or is k$ some sort of currency?

Thanks all for replies. Upwork seems crazy competitive and with this new token(connects) things to buy, I'm out. I will try to look elswhere for jobs.

Why I don't go have a company, is simple because I would need to create straight a way company, pay taxes and this is just side business to gather some income for my idea that I'm working on.

Thanks I will make sure to print this out. Damn maybe it's just me or when sending proposals, I am trying to send them big chunk message what I have been working on and some words maybe are too technical.

... in my mind I can see everything how people can understand me and that logically will understand, but most of people are "rookies" and it's harder to explain + I was never good at explaining. Depends, sometimes I talk like hmm for example : Elon Musk which can be interesting to watch and listen, but a lot of time many people are commenting that they don't understand his talking.

What does an advanced marketer even mean?

Your description is vague and gimmicky. Focus on your skills and what you have accomplished. Be objective and remove all ambiguity

Thanks. Interesting, I kinda agree. So basically focusing on skills and now much about how much spending and all other factors... and I'll be good to go.

By the way I checked this Upwork thing. Now they have this kind of connections (tokens) that you need to purchase, before that you get few free. Entered to 3 proposals, none of them replied, one added me just to linkedin as friend.

Maybe I'm just bad at explaining why I'm the right one for the job?

Yes, you are. If you can do digital marketing, you can be employed almost anywhere. You can also contract yourself out as a highly paid consultant. And, of course, you can launch your own successful website AND guide it to success. In short, you have the secret sauce. I'm working on learning this. Although I know a lot about it, the results are not there. So it's not working. Who cares how much someone knows if it doesn't deliver results?

You did a terrible job of explaining what it is that you do. I wouldn't hire you based on that alone. You can't explain yourself properly, but you want someone to pay you to represent and promote their company? So what you managed ad spend for Facebook? That's like an advertising manager hiring an ad agency to create a campaign - the ad agency did all the work - not the company manager that hired them.

Think about this deeply. If you can do what you say you can do, you are indeed a hot commodity. I don't see it in what you write, so I'm filling in the blanks of what you should have said, but didn't. That's a guaranteed way to not be hired - and not be paid. You have to contribute something - and you have to be able to convey that. YOU'RE the ad guy - why don't you know that?

So let's start over. Roleplay. Pitch some friends. You'll know it when you have something that is powerful. Right now, it's just not there.

Thanks for this feedback. I will really need to work on this communication part and explaining better what i do. Are there any good books that you would recommend to read?

TONS of books to read. I live at Amazon Kindle, where I can instantly download books - many of them free if you pay them $10 a month. Amazon Kindle is my bestest best friend. A trusted associate that is there for me every minute of every day.

The danger is that there are SO many books, you can get sucked into "analysis paralysis" of reading all the time and not get anything done.

The knowledge is definitely there - at your fingertips. I read 2-4 books a week. Learn to be a speed reader. Reading books is like panning for gold. You are going to pan a LOT of gravel looking for a small amount of gold, so speed is crucial. You don't have to know every fact from every book - scrape the facts from them - make notes - and start on another book. If you do 3-5 a week, in a month you should know enough to write your OWN book (which some authors do) which will hopefully give you the insight to target your goals, and a plan to get there, in great detail. I'm big on planning and systems. You already know a lot, so it should be fairly easy for you to ramp up to full speed and effectiveness.

Feed that brain. It's capable of anything you tell it to do if you feed it and point it in the right direction!

Thanks for that, right now I just don't know where to start. Well I will manage to go through that. Maybe having some kind of monthly achievement goals, wouldn't be bad.
