I lived in North Qld and it is not comparable at all for the reasons you said plus many othersPrice-wise, more and more people are moving to FNQ though I find it a weird place to live. You have a tropical climate and live by the beach but can't really be in the water much of the year.

Exactly, just move to NZ if you're going to move thereTasmania is also still affordable but the climate is obviously much worse.

My friends who live there love it, but it's also not even that affordable anymore anywayAnd parts of WA are still not that crazy as far as I know, though that also is changing fast and you'd be living with the horrors of bush flies.
Being close to Bali is about their biggest selling point
