Free speech for me. but not for thee.
I used to jam to some Neil Young… He’s a harmonica legend. Now I can’t shake the authoritarianism. The music somehow got markedly shitty.

Here’s something funny for you all… I read that evidently he doesn’t own the rights to his music anyway. He sold them off. So he has no say if Spotify plays his music or not.

I also read that spotify told him to screw off. I suppose both could be true.

If you're a dude in your 20s you should learn how to fight and how to shoot.

You will always feel like a pussy if you have no capacity for violence.

Though, the best defense is always knowing where not to be.

You know what we need more in the world today? 20 y/o dudes with capacity for violence not to feel like a pussy! That’s exactly what we are all missing! :troll:

I've been blown away lately by just how terrible some people are with technology. A friend of mine with a TV installation biz that charges $145 AUD callout has been back to a place every day this week to help a couple.

This is a successful couple in their 60's that have run multiple successful businesses and are worth millions of dollars, yet can't figure out how to turn on their fetch box with their remote. If a grandkid changes source to hdmi then the tv is basically broken lol.

The limit is 4 buttons, clearly labeled and color coded. "Source" doesn't count... it has to say "change which thing the TV shows you" or something. Do that, and 80% of the population will be able to turn it on and off. They still won't be able to change the channels, but they won't get so confused that they can't turn the power off.

Half-baked ideas, INE: A television secretary service. "Debbie! Change it to that channel that had Chuck Norris!" You call them on a one-way device, like the emergency necklaces, or OnStar. They pick up right away and change the channel for you, using an IOT connected cable box.

Lol, even just a video chat rather than remote controlled. Lovely people, but were happy to pay and didn't want to do it over the phone for free.

Another issue they had was that an important button marking on their silver Samsung remote had rubbed away so they then had no return/back button and would switch the tv/fetch off at the wall and back on again.

Tv secretary would be a killer business lol.

Who’s going to help them ring the service number though?

Our kids laugh whenever my mum hangs up a FaceTime call. She always pauses it instead of ending it.

Haha, I feel horrible laughing about it because from what I saw and heard they were really lovely people. They were so happy with the service they offered to write a review on Google but couldn't figure out how to do it.

Yet they are super successful retirees from owning their own businesses. Interesting.

Set foot in an MMA/ Boxing gym and it’s usually filled with some of the nicest people you’ve ever met.

Contrary to what people may think, it’s often the dudes that are most capable of violence that are the most chilled out and laid back.

They’ve been through wars in the cage/ ring against a trained fighter. They know how tough they are. They don’t feel the need to prove how tough they are on the street against some drunk guy or a bouncer were the consequences are prison or the morgue.

Exceptions apply of course.

By the way, is there a thread on martial arts other than this 2014 one? OFF-TOPIC - What type of martial arts should I practice?

Same as when I rode motorbikes. Once my lunatic mates started doing track days and the Nürburgring they didn’t want to ride on the road anymore.

It’s often the weakest ones who commit the worst atrocities. Position of power, but utter weakness? Well, be prepared for them to use excessive force to get their way, since nobody is listening or giving respect to their agenda. Sad but true. Look at history.

As nice as the knitting group where my grandma spends her time? With all those baked cookies?

Vicious old people.

[just trolling, as an ex boxer I am all for the sport, and yet I’m against pussies wanting to look tough buying a gun and going on mass shootings]

owning gun =/= mass shooter, evidenced by the ratio of many millions versus a couple dozen.

Math. Statistics. Common Sense.

It’s the beta male who has 5 years of pent up hatred and anger that goes out and buys a gun specifically to shoot up an office.

It’s an alpha that just tells someone to screw off the day it pisses him off. He might own 70 guns and it doesn’t matter. He’s not going to murder anyone for asking him to make the coffee.

A Sigma wouldn’t be somewhere he didn’t like in the first place.

The world needs more alphas and sigmas. At the very least, men with some candor.

Exactly. Watch the Police Interview of Alek Minassian (Toronto Massmurderer). Dude was a COMPLETE PUSSY who wanted to start a “Beta Uprising against the Chads and Staceys”.

"History is written by the victors, and when we write our own histories, we have the same goals as the conquerors of nations have: to justify our actions and make us look and feel good about ourselves and what we did or failed to do. If mistakes were made, memory helps us remember that they were made by someone else. If we were there, we were just innocent bystanders." (Caroll Tavris, Elliot Aronson, Mistakes Were Made)
