I wanted to talk about myself and my journey to get here to type this out today, but to be honest me and my story so far doesn’t matter. What does matter is how I can change my destiny because I am in control now.

I found this forum a year ago and this is my first ever post. I’ll explain why another time maybe but it doesn’t matter.

So many things I could say about this forum but I’ll pick two words to encapsulate how I feel about this place.

Life changing.

MJ,Vigilante, eliquid,Andy black, lex and fox just to name a few and so many others have provided so much value that can change lives if you approach the information with the right mindset.

The hardest part was the mindset shift, the amount of pain, self reflection and uncomfortable truths I’ve had to face has made me reach a point where I need to take extreme accountability.

So I have, this thread will be a dairy of accountability and a place where hopefully ice cream can be shared.

I genuinely believe I have all the information I need to take this journey to the mountain peak but before I begin I’m putting together my tools to help me. I’ve got sales and I love a cold call, I’ve been moulded by rejection and it teaches you lessons acceptance doesn’t. But that isn’t enough to take me through this arduous painful journey. So I have decided to add two more skills to my toolkit, ppc and copy. The reason being is because I’ve found a gap in the market to potentially push a product. But before I even talk about this I need genuine advice.

I’m currently in a job I have motivation for, I’ve never had this issue. I’m currently trying to pivot into a junior ppc role and take a 60% pay cut to learn ropes.

The plan was to go learn skill-freelance-build product that people need and want. But the thing is I don’t know whether it’s a good idea to free lance and scale up to say 5k a month to free up my time to focus on bigger ideas? I have no intention to run a agency but being a freelancer allows me to be location independent and that’s something I’ve been yearning for due to living in the same street for 22 years.

I’ve sacrificed so much to save money ( I’m talking saving 100% of my paycheck for the past year and 75% 2 years before that) but my sacrifices came from a person who believed in scarcity rather than abundance.

I’ve written way too much so appreciate any help, if I get no responses it’s fine because so much value has already been provided. I welcome critics and anybody who wishes to challenge my thinking.

I will embrace the pain, rejection and self reflection I will face before I reach the peak. I stand on the shoulders of giants I’ve never met.

Here's what I would do if I were in your position considering you have sales experience:
1. Organic outreach + cold outreach
2. Sales calls on your own
3. Service fulfillment on your own

When you start to get consistent cash flow:
1. Hire a VA to do outreach
2. Hire a commission-based sales closer
3. Outsource the service fulfillment. Expect 50-70% margins

Make sure you're not in daydream land and run the numbers to figure out what you need to do to get to your goal.
  • 30 emails/day = 900/month
  • 4% booked appointments
  • 36 appointments/month
  • 10% closing rate (you really should expect 20%)
  • 3 new clients per month ($2500/ea) = $7,500 month. Stay away from clients who say they can only afford $1k/mo. They will be a huge nightmare for you I promise. Your job should be to reject prospects that you cannot help.
There are a ton of tiny details within each of those steps and it would take me an entire book to outline everything, but with resourcefulness you'll be able to figure out each one. This is sales, not rocket science. Good luck my friend!

So I have decided to add two more skills to my toolkit, ppc and copy.
By PPC I presume you mean Google Ads or paid search ads. Personally (as you know) I prefer paid search ads to copy. The businesses already paying for Google Ads are often prepared to pay for someone to manage their ad spend. Don’t get me wrong, it can be a lot of work trying to get campaigns profitable, but sometimes you get to the holy grail of a stable revenue stream for the business owner, and you.

Maybe ask around the people you already know and offer to run their ad campaigns for free in exchange for a testimonial or the experience?

I’m an inbound guy (paid or organic). This thread may help with that:

Thank you so much! I’m already looking for a junior role to learn the ropes but whilst I do this, this will be my plan from Monday and to leverage a skill I already have!

So much ice cream given I’m already full!!

My notice will be handed in on Friday and the work begins. No excuses, I have enough money to float me and I’m living in my mums house with expenses lower than 80 USD. No excuses I have the time.

This will be an accountability thread as promised from Monday.

Please nobody shy away from being brutal/telling me cold truths. I know your doing it from a place of love.

Day 1: Quit my job, now applying for junior ppc roles and will aim to get one by the end of the year. I Also set up the meeting today to get the grant ads account set up so I can work on this ASAP.

Will also curate my list to start cold calling businesses and asking them about a service I have in mind. A simple widget showcasing aggregated reviews gathered from multiple backgrounds.

PS. Gyms back open today so looking forward to my morning work outs.
