Hey guys, I am JK, currently a Dental Student from Singapore.

I stumbled across the book Unscripted thanks to @Valier's videos (damn they hella good) and am still halfway through the book Unscripted (will delve into Fastlane Millionaire when I am done), but I have already gained so much insight and value.

This forum has also been what I have been looking for: A community of active, real entrepreneurs sharing value and giving insight into execution. Thanks @MJ DeMarco for the books and creating such a community.

Meanwihle, as I study, I am to build a personal brand online for people to know me as a Dentist in the long run, through documenting my life in Dental School, self-help and fitness. There's quite a bit of inertia, but I will furnish more details and how I plan to give value on the execution subforum soon. Do keep a lookout for it.

Just posting this to say hello to this community and to, once again, thank @Valier and @MJ DeMarco !

Welcome @bobbatov.

I have to say... a dental student in Singapore sees a video by @Valier, finds Unscripted , then finds the forum. That’s mind boggling.

Welcome to the forum @bobbatov!

Awesome you found your way here.

This community really is as amazing as it feels initially and the INSIDERS subscription benefits are also life-changing!

Have you put together goals for your personal brand?

Not sure of the structure for your education and dental business in Singapore, how are you finding the adventure so far?

Aspects of how you can serve patients best, business opportunities, long-term career goals, etc. ... these are things that you are probably considering and having them in writing will help get you there!

After being a dentist in America for years, I've met nearly all of my goals in dentistry including community health, group practice, owning a dental office.. feel free to ask me anything if it could help!

Enjoy finishing Unscripted and can't wait to see your execution!

Hey guys, hope you dont mind me posting on someone elses thread but I think its relevent.

Im a dentist in Ireland. Around 43 years old, looking for a change of career. Especially now with Corona I think the future of dentistry is much more stress/risk etc.

I always like gadgets and MJ has inspired me to crack on with my inventions. Im much more focused on creating value from nothing, CENTS and productocracy now than before thanks to MJ- Ive watched as many of his videos as possible on youtube and have unsubscribed from fake gurus out there. Incidentally have a look at Coffezilla on youtube. He goes through all the fake gurus and its very funny.

I was subscribed to Dan Lok(good sales advice though-find pain point, advise how solves pain, then reinforce that person has pain hopefully handing over the cash is less painful than your solution), Stefan James (very photogenic and good advice but too complicated and out there not down to earth, he seemed to have made his 10 million selling dubious e books ), Alex Becker(some good advice but alot of waffle us entrepreneurs dont have time to listen to alot of rubbish) for a few years but their advice was worthless by and large as when you think about it you need to experiance failure and standing up again and doing things you dont like rather than digging the lambos and beaches.

I feel that invention, patent and business is the way forward for me rather than licensing. IObviously I need to start with a simple invention with productocracy first as otherwise it wont cashflow. Us docs are poor on raising finance from third parties and like to do it all ourselves. Im working on delegating much more and have read some books on leverage to help.

Good luck OP with your career. Dentistry can be kind but for sure its like being an athlete. We have a limited product life so to speak. I think personally for me it was 20 years if that but your mileage will vary. Some love it and some dont and many in between . My boss from my first job retired around 37 having sold his practice using FIRE .Ive set up from scratch and owned 3 practices. Ive done ok out of it but mathematically the only way to progress is the fastlane. Hey incidentally Michael Dell was the son of a dentist!

Yes I have put together some goals for my personal brand. I'm drafting my post and will share it ASAP once I am done with it. Mainly in the short term, I wanna build memories for my class. In the longer term, it's about building trust with (potential patients)

Generally the education for dental students here is very intense and rushed, but I find it very enjoyable and fun! Business-side wise, I am still exposing myself to it as much as possible. Will let you know if I learnt something big.

Thanks for your advice, it seems like there is a lot you can share. Would love to hear your experience one day if you're down

I'm guessing you have moved away from dentistry and started working on your inventions? Damn that's interesting, would love to hear more about your story

Hey, things are up in the air with Corona for last few months, doesnt really matter, practice mostly paid off not much overheads, living at home until recently .Saved around 200k so far as Ive been busy servicing practice debt and buying a house a few weeks ago needed downpayment so maintaining that for a rainy day fund and investment.
Im in no doubt the 200k savings although it represents 800k of sales (overheads 50% and 50% tax) would evaporate very quickly if I stop working so I have to keep working to maintain my costs but I worked out I could cut back to 5 hours of dentistry a day safely. Some advise giving it up and going all in but thats crazy until you have some kind of a bridge to success at my point. Those who advise this have themselves likely gone and lived in South East Asia or with parents to slash personal overheads whilst they figure out some skills and get some revenue going with affliate marketing , e commerce or writing.
I am working on inventions but also on improving existing simple products. The big problem is to launch even something small and simple you could spend 100k with no revenue. Look at the other thread with Biophase wanting to sell on amazon 1000 products a day at 1$ profit, I assume hes selling 20 dollar products and said he needed 20k in stock to get going. That creates alot of sweat if your not gung ho and experianced. Now multiply that x5. Saying that I blew threw a million + bucks on the practice without a second thought-probably because of the effects of conformative bias. Ie I was expected to therefore the decision was easy as it was made for me. Very interesting psycology on producer/consumer. MJ is an expert, read all his books and subscribe to his youtube channel for more insights.

This sounds really interesting and different than dentistry. Although, it's not my focus right now. Will seek your guidance when I'm ready to experiment something new
