When are you and @Vigilante getting MJ on your shows @Kak?

(Sneaky way of asking if he’s your A-Lister. Curious why MJ would have turned Dave down though...)

I haven't been able to reach MJ's scheduler yet. :) He's not THE A-Lister, but he is AN A-Lister.

@MJ DeMarco is clearly too busy counting his money and writing best selling books to bother with your peasant show.:eek:

Apparently you didn't see it when I claimed I was the #1 show on Spreaker. My ad on Spreaker even validates that (dubious) claim.

I must have missed the episode where MJ DeMarco was on your show. I was too busy editing the INSIDERS call I just hosted for him. I assume you were on the muted dial in on that call?

Please post a link.

In all seriousness we discussed this, and it is in the works.

We have EPISODE 7 available now!

It is HARD to believe that I have only been officially live for like 10 days. This is really turning out to be fun for me. I will let you guys in on a little secret... This is out of my comfort zone. I never in a million years expected to want to do something like this. I decided to flat out obliterate my comfort zone... I now LIVE outside of my comfort zone. I am growing more and more comfortable with this as time goes on.

Episode 7 features a guest and my friend @MTEE1985 ... Together we discuss finance, investing, what current events mean for investors, and... He talks about a billion dollar startup he is a part of.

I fully understand it is a lot... But the content is good, so speed it up if you have to because you won't want to miss it.

Also, my apologies for the quality of the Skype call... I need to do some research and get some higher fidelity audio with my guests. I will not stop improving until everything is perfect. I am literally going all in... I started with a simple digital USB mic... Now I am looking at a professional XLR setup... I have super high end podcast editing software now. Guys... We are going big. Like not just big... BIGGER.

51 mins for a podcast isn’t long. That’s about normal for ones I listen to when I go for a walk.

I record my calls with Zoom. I thought Skype was a bit flakier. I don’t know enough about audio to know if that’s true. Any audio guys/ladies in here who know?

(BTW... I have Calendly setup with Zoom so people can book into my calendar for a chat, using their own time zone. It really helps reduce the email pong-pong.)

I suppose part of the problem @Kak is that your guests could be calling in with their phone headphones attached to their laptop/phone, and quality won’t be as good as yours. I noticed my sound quality was poor when I chatted with @sonny_1080 recently, and that he sounded better than me. The sound quality I can control is my own so I popped out and picked up a mic.
> AndyTalks with Sonny about getting his 1st digital marketing client

One time I had a recorded chat with @Contrarian for a business he worked with and they sent me a decent Logitech headset beforehand to get my sound quality up a notch. I still have that headset.

There’s podcast folks in here who might have some tips. @UnrealCreative ?

I know some who sound good on their YouTube channels who might have some thoughts: @Fox @Lex DeVille @lowtek @Valier ?

Without listening yet I second @Raoul Duke 's mic suggestion.
Hell no to calling in over phone, the quality is trash.

At the *very* least, guests should get on a zoom call with laptop mic (or plug-in iphone headphone mic is better), in a small room that is quiet and has carpet to reduce echo. I've recorded podcasts in my closet, but it's not comfortable.

This is what's going to work for most guests with available equipment, without having to go out and buy anything.

Skype requires additional software to record calls, as I recall.

Zoom has call recording built-in.

Not anymore. It just drops the recorded call into the chat afterwards.

The problem I see is that MY side as the host is still subjected to traveling over the internet to Skype's servers. I bet if I was recording it locally with 100% audio quality from at least my side, things would be better.

ALSO! When I am using my laptop... I need to turn off my VPN... I wonder if that is screwing things up... It takes me from a gigabit fiber connection down to like 80mbps.

@Kak I’ve really been enjoying the show. Love to see that you took it to this level so quickly, but it’s not really surprising.

I like to be able to sit down and listen attentively, not while I'm also doing something else. As such, I'm only just now getting through the @MoneyDoc episode. I found this interview particularly interesting. I'm about to launch a new product in 3-4 weeks. Up until now, I've been adamant that I wasn't listing it on Amazon. I understood there would be some loss of revenue, but I also felt like Amazon couldn't convey the story and the "magic" of the brand.

As I listened, I found myself reconsidering my stance. As mentioned, Amazon gets half of all ecom sales, and something like only 15% of all sales in the US are ecom, leaving a pretty small piece of the pie for ecom but not Amazon companies.

But after further consideration, I've decided that for now, I'm going to stay off Amazon. Such little control over how the brand interacts and engages with the customer concerns me. That I come out of the gate not being able to fully understand the customer and their life, instead working only on assumptions and limited data amazon is willing to provide also concerns me.

@MoneyDoc while I know you are a bull on FBA, is there anything about it that concerns you? Do you ever feel like your business and it's growth are/will be limited by being on Amazon? Do you feel that perhaps a new company could build a brand on Amazon and then transition away?

Great post man! It is great to hear from you!

Having a first hand knowledge of your product... There is no way you can convey the true value and differentiation in a sea of Chinese competition on Amazon. That is unfortunate, because 6-7 years ago, it would have been a slam dunk that kept slamming even until today.

I think in that discussion we both largely agreed with one another. The conclusion that I came to is that if I had a brand... I think customers would basically expect me to be there. The unfortunate part about that is you pay a very pretty penny for that. Lots of successful brands make it off of Amazon though.

Sent in a question via audio. Amazing how much fear tries to hold me back from even doing that (will my question be too stupid? Will he just laugh or ignore it?). Decided to send it anyways.

Thanks for the opportunity @Kak.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! EPISODE 8 IS NOW AVAILABLE!

For your listening pleasure, Mr. @Andy Black and myself discuss the importance of business relationship building.

Apple Podcasts!

Google Podcasts!

Spotify Podcasts!

YouTube!

And Speaker!

Enjoy, everyone!
This has been the most fun episode for me so far. : )

Thanks for having me on your show @Kak, and especially to talk about building relationships and a business based on giving.

Consider creating separate threads for each episode and ask people for their insights and takeaways (think of those as your call-to-actions!).

You may find some threads grow legs!

You *will* find you’re surprised at what listeners pick up on that you take for granted.

You *will* be inspired by feedback.

And those threads can go on for years helping more and more people.

Another benefit is people (and Google) can find each episode easily and direct people to them. Even better is when others start linking (referring?) people to them. (Make it easy for people to refer you and your work.)

Of course, with the fast cadence of yourself and @Vigilante you might end up swamping the forum, but I’d argue that you’re churning out so much good content that this is a good thing, and will create lively discussions. (Maybe MJ could create a corner of the forum for episodes?)

These progress threads are keepers and inspiring to follow. You can create an additional master thread linking to all your show episodes. (I did one here if you want to see an example: NOTABLE! - AndyTalks with Forum Members (Master Thread)).

Great watching this unfold for you @Kak and @Vigilante.

Thanks @Timmy C.

I’m curious. What were your takeaways? What will you do different going forward?

I need to give more.

I need to engage the market more (speak to my potential customers to understand them better) engage the market first create the product second.

By engaging the market and helping people first, i can find out more about the market and offer an appropriate solution.

Not only do they benefit, i will also benefit.

It is a win win relationship.

Damn. That’s the TL;DL of my hour of rambling. Thanks @Timmy C for showing me up.
