Can you please explain what do you mean by this? I am Indian and want to understand the thought behind this statement. Thanks
China is simply rent-seeking. I'm not a nationalist or protectionist by any stretch of the imagination, and firmly believe in Global trade, but China is an exception. They use espionage to steal trade secrets, steal America patents, manipulate currency to get an advantage, manipulate data (as we've seen recently.) Their corruption is very thorough.

My biggest fear is that they will use all this money to build up their military. I mean look at the issues we had with the USSR and they were poor lol. Last thing we need is to pump more money into this government:

Japan had the same problem that China is now facing. They were killing it with their manufacturing. They were predatory in their trading policies. They would undercut American manufacturers to sell goods at below costs in order to gain market shares. American companies went out of business. The Japanese manufacturers made up for it at home by jacking up their domestic prices. And they bragged about it. They were buying A-class commercial buildings in downtown Los Angeles. Their plan was to take over our banking system. They were taking out full-page ads in the LA Times to tell their plan to the world. Then, one day, the American consumer did a 180-degree turn against them. Their stock market crashed. Their businesses were lateral -- no antitrust laws -- so the downturn was horrible for them. The damage wasn't spread over larger segments of their economy.
It was at the same time that the PC was starting to be used in business -- around 1990. The PC gutted the LA commercial real estate market. The Japanese dumped their buildings as they met their stock margin calls in their falling stock market. Our "recession" in the LA real estate market lasted about all that decade. That little dip took out the Saving and Loans and the Thrifts. That gap let the stock market and the big boys on Wallstreet into the real estate financing business.
And that's how I remember it...

I just mean in terms of their economy. The Indian economy is pretty rough. Last I checked their per capita GDP was ~2,000/yr, China was 10,000/yr and the US was 65,000/yr.

While speaking at a press conference on Monday, Netanyahu suggested the Health Ministry use new technology to help Israel adjust to its new routine as the state is lifting the coronavirus lockdown. "That is, technology that has not been used before and is allowed under the legislation we shall enact," he clarified.

"I spoke with our heads of technology in order to find measures Israel is good at, such as sensors. For instance, every person, every kid – I want it on kids first – would have a sensor that would sound an alarm when you get too close, like the ones on cars," the prime minister said.

I'm beyond disgusted. I can't believe it's not dystopian sci-fi.

“A Fresno, California waffle restaurant dared to open its doors for business this weekend to the delight of a long line of customers, who waited up to two hours for the “privilege” of willingly spending their money in a business happy to serve them breakfast on Mother’s Day. This freedom of voluntary transaction is the core of what we used to call our free society. But in an America paralyzed by fear – ramped up by a mainstream media that churns out propaganda at a level unparalleled in history – no one is allowed to enjoy themselves.

Thankfully everyone carries a smartphone these days and can record and upload the frequent violations of our Constitutional liberties. In the case of the waffle restaurant, thanks to a cell phone video we saw the police show up in force and try to push through the crowd waiting outside. An elderly man who was next in line to enter was indignant, complaining that he had been waiting two hours to eat at the restaurant and was not about to step aside while the police shut down the place. The police proceeded to violently handcuff and arrest the man, dragging him off while his wife followed sadly behind him to the police car.

It is hard not to be disgusted by government enforcers who would brutally drag an elderly man away from a restaurant for the “crime” of wanting to take his wife out for breakfast on Mother’s Day. A virus far more deadly than the coronavirus is spreading from Washington down to the local city hall. Tin pot dictators are ruling by decree while federal, state, and local legislators largely stand by and watch as the US Constitution they swore to protect goes up in smoke.

Politicians with perfect haircuts issue “executive orders” that anyone cutting hair for mere private citizens must be arrested. In Texas a brave salon owner willingly went to jail for the “crime” of re-opening her business in defiance of “executive orders.” To add insult to injury, Governor Greg Abbott very quickly condemned the one week jail sentence of salon owner Shelley Luther – but the officers who arrested her were only carrying out Abbott’s own orders!

First we were told we had to shut down the country to “flatten the curve” so that hospitals were not overwhelmed by coronavirus patients. When most hospitals were nowhere near overwhelmed, and in fact were laying off thousands of healthcare workers because there were no patients, they moved the goalposts and said we cannot have our freedom back until a vaccine was available to force on us or the virus completely disappeared – neither of which is likely to happen anytime soon.

Many politicians clearly see the creeping totalitarianism but lack the courage to speak out. Thankfully, patriots like Shelley Luther are demonstrating the courage our political leaders lack.

When Patrick Henry famously said “give me liberty or give me death” in 1775, he didn’t add under his breath “unless a virus shows up.” If we wish to reclaim our freedoms we will have to fight – peacefully – for them. As Thomas Paine wrote in 1776, “These are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman.””

Idk if it’s been posted but HALF of employed workers are making more than they were at their job.

What happens when we open up and the freebies dry up? New protests?...

To be fair, Abbot immediately signed an order releasing her from jail, and making jail time not a fit punishment for avoiding shutdowns. Retroactive to early April I believe.

I need a haircut... I normally do it myself.

The NSA will probably send before and after pictures to Greg Abbott causing him to deploy the national guard to my house.

If I cut my hair, my pomeranian is as good as dead.

My barber may or may not have never stopped cutting since the lockdown, and I may or may not have gotten like 4 haircuts since this pandemic started.

He was telling me last time I saw him (on a skype call of course, and not getting a haircut), That his shop may or may not cut up a ton of local police officers and sheriffs. They don't give a F*ck, they just want a haircut.

If it's good enough for Lori Lightfoot, it's good enough for me. I do , after all, take my personal hygiene very seriously

Arizona salons reopened on Friday. If one’s personal calculus is to still avoid infection, getting a haircut sooner than later is better. That said, an old friend of mine tried to get his hair cut at Great Clips (low-cost/budget place) and every location had a hour to two hour wait today. 32890

Desperate times call for desperate measures. LOL. The local place I go to is still closed, but I’m not Great Clips desperate yet.
I got my haircut yesterday. Had to park down the street because the parking lot was full. Had an appointment though. Walked in, sat down in the barber chair while everyone else waited.

My barber appreciates the 80% tips that I have always given. I appreciate the fantastic cuts, attention to detail, and the fact that I got in. :)

I wonder if there's any eCom sellers here still shipping internationally. Is there an increase in the no. of customers demanding to know where's their items? Seems that for some sellers, packages are still stuck in transit in their country of origin after 2+ weeks.....I'm curious to know how people are handling that issue here. Or maybe stop shipping internationally?

Seems that for some sellers, packages are still stuck in transit in their country of origin after 2+ weeks.....I'm curious to know how people are handling that issue here. Or maybe stop shipping internationally?

Still shipping internationally, we have warnings on the website regarding delays due to C0VlD-19.
Huge increase in number of enquiries, 99% of people are understanding when they receive their response.

Or just cut your own hair? Saves time and money. Been doing it for like 8 years.
