Its my one year anniversary in FLM, I am still very much works in progress, but here goes my two step forward, one step backwards journey.

I am breaking down into lifestyle, health and work/finance.

Lifestyle-wise, for past one year.
  • I quit facebook, coffee and excess sugar. I still take sugary stuff once a while, but with moderation.

  • I fap less. A year ago, I was addicted to porn and fap, it was almost a daily habit, I've now got it under control. My longest refrain was 45 days followed by 30 days, and my usual restrain is ~ a week. I also started building a healthier dating circle. It is still my biggest challenge so far wrt porn.

  • I meditate. This is still a hit and miss, but most days I can do 7 - 8 minutes, which scarily was very hard in the beginning.
My second year FLF lifestyle wish
  • I hope to make meditation a permanent habit doing it 15 minutes a day. I don't "sense" the benefit yet, but sage people have said it is helpful, and if should find out myself by upping to 15 minutes a day.
  • I also wish to wake up early at 7am daily I don't know if I can......as monthly intercontinental travels messes up things.
Health-wise, for past one year.
  • lost 5 kg
  • Reduced body fat to 19% in January (much less now but didn't get to measure because of Covid)
  • Reduced Body Fat Mass to 13.1kg in January
  • I count my calories. I know my base is 1600, and ctive lifestyle 2300ish. I know how much I am burning (eg: 40 minutes jog burns 400 KCal), and eating (a sweet potato in the morning takes 150 KCal, an egg is 80KCal etc)
  • I go to gym systematically about six months ago. It used to be "just lift some irons" to recording progresses and doing the macro exercises the get the most bang. Two colleagues comment on the changes when I was shirts off.
  • I am already eating healthy since a teenager, if anything it's just cutting out midnight snacks more thoroughly which I do more often than I should.
  • Shout out to @Ninjakid @Champion @deckthehalls @iced_steez @Tourmaline @Roli @Tourmaline, especially to @MrStoic886 for helping me get on the workout part. @Defection on diet advices!
My second year FLF lifestyle wish
  • Continue what I do, I am at a beginner's gain period for gym, hence I am gaining muscle and losing fat at the same time, hopefully I can continue doing progressive overload to lift better and look better.

Work-wise
  • I run a company with few hundred employees, I always had the feeling that it is out of control, I still have that feeling but it has lessened with the GSD method. At least I can keep my mind out of it by recording things on GSD. I still make the mistake of putting too many task on the "to-do/immediate" column, as it is advised to only have three task at a time, you can't do other things if you have not finished the task.
  • Finance has always been a mess, I've tried to organize it since four years ago, I don't know if it is the constant improvement that is getting me there or it's FLF. I really am a mess in this department, for example, upon cleaning up my "debt book" recently I found out that a company actually owed us few hundred thousand dollars. They were ready to pay, we weren't asking them to pay.
  • Finance 2. While I am at the low millions net worth, I feel that I have missed out on taking care of my finances better and would have been in a position twice my net worth.
My second year FLF work wish
  • To learn to be more of a numbers guy. I felt that I always avoid numbers - be in sales, finance etc. It's a major bottleneck for me and the firm.
Looking towards my second year!

Very clear goals you've set up for yourself!

You mention that that the meditation is still a hit and miss. Did you experiment with meditation a lot? Personally, I've encountered the same "this doesn't do me any good" moment after trying to meditate every morning in bed after some reading for about a week. However, I've noticed that it works a lot better for me when I just take a stroll in the park to clear my mind. There's a lot of different kind of meditations.

What kind of business do you run? Sounds like quite the struggle managing a few hundred employees.

Yea, a stroll in the park works wonders. I like to go outdoor to clear my mind when things get cluttered. I do however think maybe meditation can bring things to another level - being more calm and collected?

The company is mainly tech and app dev stuff.

Kinda a bummer, yesterday I was sleepless whole night due to thinking about work, it happens but not often. And I end up breaking the sleep early and no porn rule. Sucks! I need to be more disciplined.

Sound like you need a bookkeeper to manage the $$$$ side. Have you looked at any Business options the would give you the fastlane freedom?

My business is probably considered a fastlane as I am started a software house and running for several years now. Bookeeping to improve visibility and projection of financials is definitely something I need to work on.

Back at sleeping early, no porn and waking up at 6:45am. Let's see how long I can last especially with all the stay home measures.

Keep it up! What might also help in terms of sleep is having a structure before sleeping and when waking up. Same shit, different day basically. In the few hours prior to sleeping, always have the same agenda. When waking up, have the same agenda for the first 2 hours.
Example of myself in the evening:
- Work till 8-9pm
- Go running with my girlfriend
- Watch 1 episode of whatever on netflix
- Bed-time between 10-11pm

In the morning:
- Wake up at 6:00 - 6:30
- Go running (morning or evening thing)
- Read a book for 1 hour
- Have breakfast
- start between 8 - 9

I noticed having a structure definitely helped with discipline working from home. Keep us updated!

Thanks! that's very useful. I also realized that if I have something looking forward to, I just wake up when time comes.

On an unrelated thing. I occasionally put alarm when I work so I break my time into, say, 60 minutes. Concentrating on a single work during that 60 minutes.

Something that might help you out with the working segments is something called the 'pomodoro principle'. It also works with a timer (25min) and lets you have short breaks inbetween. Though, you working 60 minutes and having a break after is very similar :)
