So this isn't me but a Youtuber, in the video he mentions he read Unscripted !

View: https://youtu.be/MbUvTbD9q4A

I've been coding for quite a while now, and just lately I've been realizing what a superpower it actually is.

I left a comment that went like this:

Coding is such a wonderful thing that you can create anything possible (whats possible on sillicon) and it's a shame to give this leverage and opportunity for scalability to someone else!

Anyway, summary of the video is that the corporation you work at you like a commodity that can be easily replaced instead of a human.

It is correct , however to make successful business require more skills that just programming, internet is full of developers who couldn't convert their software to real business even after hitting the market .

Well yes, the application you apply your application to (sorry for this pun) is very important.

It took me a lot of time for me to code something that's worth persuing.

It happens more often than not that people start coding something, and just when they release it, a big competitor or Google releases their own version of it.

This even happened to the founder of Twitch, Justin Kan, he made a calendar app, and just a month after release Google brought out Google Calendar.

You always need the best, fastest and newest software out there in order to compete. It's not easy, but when you hit it right - I haven't experienced what that's like yet

While some developers succeed to make real business ,I see most of the time executives who work in software companies make the most successful businesses , such as Netflex and Uber , etc. So it is look like executive with good business idea can perform better than software developer with good idea.

I wouldn't be surprised if Joshua reads this forum!

But yes, the key thing to note here is to create instead of consume, or to develop a product to sell to others and provide value to them.

He's risking putting himself out there and getting attacked by strangers, but he's making bank doing it.

In my opinion, becoming somewhat famous is inevitable if you're going to create a business and sell/market to others (unless of course you hire others to become the face for you).

And Joshua is real in the sense that he's telling people WHY he's not working a dev job, which goes against the millions of people that are trading time for money and who are not yet Unscripted .

I guess one way to get ahead in the world is to teach others how to get a job while not working a job yourself. While I find that somewhat hypocritical, I respect that because it shows they recognize a need (people need jobs for money) and are merely filling that need with content to help others.

This comment in the comment sections is complete gold, sums up absolutely everything about not being your own boss.

"Powerful stuff, great video – I’m now in my 50s I used to work as a software developer, when I was in my early 30s the company I worked for let me go (the whole company folded) One of the clients we had called on the Monday and wanted me to continue the project I had been working on for the past 6 months. I called my old boss for advice on how much I should charge for the work, he told me this, ‘we used to charge them £1100 a day for your services, start at £1000 per day (you won’t get that, but you can always work down from there) To cut a long story short, without much negotiating she offered me £850 per day! That was mega money back then - that day changed my life, I was getting paid £24,000 per year – yet someone was willing to pay me £850 per day for 4 months to get some work done. It taught me that you will never be paid your true worth working for someone else. I Never took another full-time job – from there I just contracted out my services and went on to build a couple of business. Looking back, I cannot imagine where my life would be if I had just continued doing that 9-5 working for someone else. "

Reminds me of when I was IT contracting:

Yup....Selling and marketing should be the number be the number one skill, followed by programming.

If your mind is rightly aligned, learning these things are not that difficult. It's all in the mind.

You're right! I read this forum. Unscripted , and The Millionaire fast lane made me want to get up and walk out my bullshit job so many times. Those books made me understand that I wasn't alone in thinking, this is all a facade.

I realize I violate the rule of saturated market entry; but I think I do ok with executional excellence and playing to my strengths. I don't put all my eggs in one basket, and use youtube to drive traffic to whatever it is I want to sell.

I still don't have enough money to invest to live off of truly passive income, but if I can make a bunch of money quick this way, why not? Still way better than a cubicle.

I'm not Tai Lopez and I never promise a get rich quick, but I'll sell you a way to learn skills that can. The how part is up to you.

MJ Says he'll collab at 100k in unscripted , not sure if that number has inflated since release; but that is the goal.

Great video. I recently left software as well after getting a week of notice that the company couldn't afford to pay me anymore... A lot better than being fired on the spot, but still crushing when I had to feed four mouths.

You're right! I read this forum.

Dude I never expected to see you here. I used to watch some of your videos when I was working as a developer. I was kicked out for a ridicilous reason but I understood it was a blessing in disguise because I learned that way that I gotta own my work, everything I do. I am almost 35 anyway so my clock was ticking for ageism anyway.

Hey Josh, a bunch of this really resonated with me even though I have a very good corporate software engineering job at the moment - I know I'm very lucky, and I'm taking advantage of the situation.

Thanks for the video. You're super cool.

Hi Joshua,
could you please explain?
MJ Said in his book as an example of providing value that if you email him asking for something he likely wont respond, but if you email him with something to offer 'such as a 100k subscriber' YouTube channel. He'd be more interested.
