Appreciate any experiences with private label supplement companies as we are looking to test the waters with our current customer base ready to buy.

Affiliate marketing isn't cutting it any more as even though we do 5 figure sales every month on Amazon we only make a lousy 4% commission.

Trying to take this to the next level but been burnt so many times in the past from piss poor customer service white label supplement places.

Any recommendations for a solid private label supplement company or experiences with others are greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

I suggest that you look for manufacturers that are not offering white label or private labeling products. Contact them cold, tell them of your capabilities and tell them you are looking for a reliable supplier of products on which you can place your label.

If they are willing to supply in unlabelled packaging, or with your labels attached you can do very well by establishing your own brand.

This is a very crowded field as I am sure you know, so you must stand out. Your labels can make or break your business. I have recently published my new book on that subject.

Whatever you do, don't buy supplements from China.

@Walter Hay pretty much nailed it.

I started with supplements in 2015. I did what everyone else did. I used the same private label companies and just stuck a label on a very generic product already sold by tons of sellers. Same formulas, different labels. As you can probabaly guess, that company didn't last long. Find unique formulas and see if you can private label those. Most companies will say no, as that'll lead to unnecessary competition. However, a few might take you on. I find that supplement companies in the U.K. are more "okay" with private labelling their own unique formulas. But, you have to make sure the label guidelines fall under the US regulations. There is a big difference between UK and USA supplement label guidelines.

Where can I find this book Walter?

What happened with that business? How much did you invest in it?
I just finished selling the inventory I had remaining and left it at that. Initially invested about $3500 and made about $3000 in the end. If I wen't more aggressive, I would've probably done much better but my products were just generic formulas with a different label as everyone else. I am planning on starting another supplement company under the same brand, have big plans for this one. These formulas are not in the USA or Canada so I can stand out in a big way.

Due to the troubles in Mindanao my web designer has had to flee north, so it's not online yet. A few people have contacted me direct but I'm not all that happy with people buying it without knowing what it contains, so I have a dilemma.

I think I will just put it in the marketplace where I can show the details. I will do that as soon as I can. I do think that if you want to stand out in a big way you could find it very helpful.

Walter

EDIT. Went to the marketplace to place the ad, only to find: "Marketplace ads are temporarily disabled", so maybe you should PM me and I will send you at least the Table of Contents, or the draft of the website might be better. (It's very rough.)

I am also just getting into supplements. It is quite crowded in many niches and you will need to offer something different than everyone else. It's going to take some work to figure out where you can differentiate. Just private-labeling the same things as everyone else is going to be a challenge, but not one that cannot be overcome.

The goal should be working with a company to develop something proprietary and different that will solve a problem that current products cannot. Private labeling is fine to get started, but you may need to market the crap out of all of your products for a while in order to get more exposure than the dozens of other brands selling similar products. Find one that does much more than private label.

I have a good partnership with a company, but they are not for everyone. Cold calling and emailing is going to be your best option for finding a supplier that will work for you and offers products in your niche. I made at least a dozen cold contacts before finding the right one.

Recommendations for private label might be hard to get from people due to the potential for creating competition for themselves by letting people know who they are doing business with.

This is why I suggested in post #2 that buying from suppliers who advertise that they supply white label products is not a good idea.

It's no different to buying from dropshippers that advertise as dropship suppliers for resellers.

Following the crowd is never the way to make an impact in the market.

Hey, would love to get an update, incase you are still in the supplements business. How is it going? I would love to get some advice if you are still in this niche.

Best,

Walter is 100% Correct about not buying from china. They will give you bad product that you wouldn't want to have tested.

I would highly recommend going where I get my Private Label Vitamin C and Private Label Turmeric, it is a place called Private Label Express in Florida. https://privatelabelexpress.com/

Get this, they designed my label with my input, printed the labels, and applied them FOR FREE

They also made sure my label met all legal standards so as not to get me sued for claims. Chris is the guy who helped me I think he is the lead guy.

It looks like you have hit the jackpot with that private label supplier. Nice work.
