Finally have the office mostly set up since the big move! All that is missing is a rug on the floor, a big plant of some type in the corner and my acoustic foam panels on the wall... I may post another pic once it's 100% complete, but to be totally honest - I'll probably forget. ;)

^ Agreed, expecting any unwanted visitors? Sadly selling my Glock 20 right now actually. All time favorite pistol.

@JasonR Just read through your GOLD thread. Now I understand why you have that in the corner. Hopefully the lurkers and copycats on the forum have reduced since then.

This picture exactly describes my current situation.

On the windowsill:
  • Pencils and other stuff I need for school - the place I’m stuck in
On the desk:
  • The first money I’ve earned - the tool I need to get free
  • A book - the tool I need to learn for my goals
  • My laptop - the tool I need to work for my goals
  • A glass of whiskey/cola - the tool I need to survive the feeling of being stuck (don't take this one too seriously, haha)
Around the desk:
  • Things I have no better place for - because I’m living together with my gf in a 27 square meter (290 square feet) apartment

I’m curious about how I’ll see this picture in 2 years.

Go ahead show us where the magic happens. Your desk is the one place where some of the most important events of your life happen.

Here's mine.
Keeping up with my minimalist lifestyle I like to keep my desk, well, to a minimum.

20180630_122215.jpg

I use to take my desk for granted but over time I have learned that a good set up for a desk has a big impact on your productivity. Here are some tips that might help you while you're at your desk.

1. Place your monitor on a desk mount. This will free up space underneath the monitor that you can use for other items.

2. Keep your monitor at eye level. If your monitor is below eye level you will find yourself slouching. By keeping it at eye level it reinforces good posture.

3. Face the door in the room. There's something about having your back towards a door that affects you sub consciously. By having a good clear view of the door you will feel more at ease.

4. Buy a good chair to seat on. The best office chairs are not cheap but they do make a world of difference. They are more comfortable and you can seat down for extended periods of time without having to readjust yourself.

5. Keep the monitor screen facing away from windows. The glare from the sun can be a distraction.

6. Take your computer out of your room. A mistake most people make is not separating their work space with their rest space. Your brain associates the place you work in with work. If you keep your desk in your room it will make it harder for you to fall asleep because your brain is still on work mode.

7. Use a blue light filter when working at night. Blue light can keep you awake at night and makes it harder to stay asleep. If you are using windows just type in "night light" on the search bar. If you can't find the blue light filter on your computer you can download it from here f.lux.

8. Every 30 minutes get up and walk around to stretch your muscles.

9. Every 30 minutes focus on a far away point on the wall to relieve eye strain.

Moved my workspace to a space at my dad's company, so I'm here on a Saturday.

Benefits:
  • Quiet & away from everybody
  • 300 MBPS high-speed internet
  • Air-conditioning
  • Fridge :playful:
IMG_6549.JPG

*Going to add a whiteboard above the desk.

3. It's to keep an eye out for enemies - reasons why we face the door.

I bought a white board but I never use it I'll probably throw it away.

In response to my post Post Your Work Area! (Biophase knows!) here, the new setup:

3 years later, graduated and moved to NYC. Had to downsize the setup but it was more along the lines of getting rid of so many distractions.

Had to bust out the old slow laptop to transfer files to my Google Drive. 3 years ago it was amazing...

Same here, when I moved to this place I thought I was gonna be working outside like a baller. Tried it once, didn't get any work done,

I'd mark up those sliding glass doors with dry erase markers like a madman! Nice rig.

Here is my office space. It also doubles as warehouse storage. The beauty of a stand up desk is that I can cram a ton of boxes under it.

In case anyone is curious, that is one of those electric bug rackets under the desk. I HATE fruit flies. I have a ton of plants in my house and as soon as I see a fruit fly it has to go, the racket makes short work of them.

Monitors if anyone wants to know, from left to right. 30" Old a$$ 2560x1600 in portrait, 34" 3440x1440, 27" 3840x2160 in portrait. I feel like I have enough for now, although I would love to replace that old 30" with another 4k portrait. Now I can have everything open at all times.

Fun thread!

Multiple monitors definitely help when you're working on the web development stuff--although I have to admit, I probably would have been fine without the third external monitor...

But hey, whatever. Once you get used to more work space, it's hard to go back~

Just a simple MacBook air hooked up to mechanical keyboard and an external mouse.

Planning to build a dual monitor PC in the coming months.

Reinforcement Learning in Motion

fundamentals of reinforcement learning. Most of the content prior to the recent surge in neural networks.

Also, for my nano sized YT channel (similar content)
Two things:

1) 4K 40” wasn’t a search term I knew existed until today. I also hadn’t considered moving up from my two 24” monitors before. I blame you for an impending purchase and subsequent ear bashing from my wife.

2) I feel a lot less smart now I’ve seen your course outline. Haha.

EDIT: Wow... that’s much cheaper than I thought:
