Hey everyone, thanks for reading my progress journal.

TLDR: I am documenting my process of building an iOS app, and I'll be posting daily on my progress.

I have previously made the common mistake of valuing events over process. This has led to stagnation. So now I've changed my focus to be on the journey and progress over 'milestones'.

I will be working on an iOS app which solves the problems of the annoyance of calorie counting. Essentially it will exist to enable people to reach their fitness/health goals without having to deal with daily input of calories.

I will be launching the app of May 1st. Although that's a bit of a close launch date it is good as it forces me to value each day.

As it'll be a minimum viable product, it won't be full fledged with all the features I want. Also the code will need to be refactored with later versions of the app.

My plan to make money from the app is to have a freemium model. Where most users are using it for free and spreading the word. And some users who are a bit 'OCD' can pay $9.99 a month to have more control and use the app to get their macronutrients and micronutrients daily with recommendations for high quality supplements.

Today I only have a couple hours as I have other class projects to do. But during those two hours, I will be using Xcode to build the basic UI and corresponding visual objects and connecting them with the view controller code files.

Thanks again for checking my progress out and look forward to seeing you tomorrow!

I am pretty health conscious and I see a market for that. How would you plan to tackle that?

Food for thoughts: I pay attention to what I eat, I would like to eat decently tasting food, but I hate cooking. I looked a while back for a meal plan service that:
- offered simple recipes, like beginner simple
- with the associated shopping list, simple stuff once again
- with 2 or 3 meals per week, packed with nutrients and super foods. Aka few meals that will cover most of what my body needs to function.

I couldn't find any. And this is something I am willing to pay 9.99 per month for.

On another angle, I don't think many people are aware of the natural benefit of things like reishi, lion's mane mushrooms, Chaga, cordyceps, etc... Perhaps it is an angle than can be used for a value skew.

Hey thanks for your reply :)

I was planning on having meal plans that consist of simple meals that can be made in bulk. Each recipe will have an estimated cooking time so that the user can make all their meals for the week in two hours for example.

I figure I can still make money from users by recommending affiliate products such as protein bars, plant based protein powders, or vitamin supplements.

I got the $9.99 pricing based on viewing myFitnessPal and I hate having to enter all the ingredients to count my calories/nutrients.

Also thanks for the suggestion of natural herbs as that'll likely attract a niche market as well as some content I could produce to market to people.

Marketing through teaching and producing content so that people know that they can trust my site/app as I'm in it to really solve their problem.

Have a good day man!
