Hello everyone I have had this problem for over a year now. Especially the last few months my spirit feels dead almost on the verge of giving up, I want to become a millionaire before I am 30 or at least financially free so I don't have to work anymore. There are only a few things I want in life, my favorite car which with these modifications I want will cost around 130k I estimate at the absolute max. I want a few investment properties for passive income, and my own house. My life style would be very simple, I would be sitting at home all day doing stuff similar to what I do now but not have all these struggles. But here is the hard part and for the last 2 years almost 3 I feel like I have been wasting my life away. So I been trying to achieve this goal ever since I was 18 almost 21 now. And I have tried a few different things, coding, certain types of investing, lately been trying some new things and those I think I will not pursue. And nothing is working I constantly face these challenges where something gets too hard and I burn out very quickly and give up, but I am not passionate about those stuff either. This is coding I am talking about for example, I have decided recently to quit it as its not for me. But I can't find a SINGLE thing that I am 100% sure about that I will do to become rich. There is no passionate its just money going through my head and its really pissing me off, wanting to achieve this goal so bad but no clear direction, trying a bunch of things, getting desperate and even looking at how to make money fast. (I wouldn't do this or fall into any scams but its stuff I type in when I burn out). Now I have decided to do day trading stocks to see if that's my passion. I have come to the conclusion lately, to achieve my dreams I am not a hard worker and there is laziness in me, I have been working on this but its still bad and I don't know if it's because I haven't found something I am passionate about or I am just purely lazy. Or is maybe the road to success supposed to be boring and very stressful? If so that's fair enough but I just need help to choose ONE course and stick with it, but I am instead desperately trying new things.

I don't know what to do this has been going on for a while and I am getting sick and tired of it, I just really need some guidance. A step by step process would be awesome, thanks.

You're not ready to be an entrepreneur if you need someone to spoon-feed it to you.

It sounds like you need to work on your mindset first. And it's obvious you haven't read MJ's book. Because he clearly states you chase "needs" first and the money follows. It's obvious you've also not read any of the GOLD/NOTABLE threads as they're plenty of threads with processes in them.

-------------------

Chasing money will only lead to failure. Take it from someone who jumped from 'shiny thing' to 'shiny thing' for 4 years.

And here's another secret...money doesn't bring contentment.

- When I was in college, all I wanted to make was $3,000 per month...got my first job...wanted to make more
- Before I quit my job last year, I was making close to $5,000 per month... wanted to make more
- This month, I'll clear around $31,000 in August... still want to make more

If you think money is going to make you happy...[insert cliche because it's true].

Hard truth --- you sound like me 6 years ago. On one hand, it's great that you're young.

On the unfortunate, stone-cold truth side...by the way it sounds now...you're 2-5 years out from starting a business that will pay the monthly bills full-time.

1. Get a job right now
2. Read, read, read
3. Focus on one project and hold yourself accountable to give it 12 months before you quit

Do those things, and you'll get there before you're 30.

I use to be like this . For me I just started to set small goals that I can achieve . I stop thinking about the end product, and actually enjoying the process . Now when I start a project I tackle it one step at at time towards a bigger goal and I make sure I complete it . If you keep thinking you are going to master coding or anything in this world really fast ... good luck

Ok thanks, I do have a job and I am reading constantly every day infact, but worried I am still wasting time. If I shouldn't case money so I should just continue to look for my passion then? Is that what you are saying? Cause It's been a massive struggle and haven't been able to find it.

Ok so you enjoy the process but I don't enjoy anything enough to stick to it, reading books about all these topics is somewhat fun and interesting but its I don't have the thinking like "I can't wait to wake up tomorrow and do it again". I wish I could stop thinking about money but its not that easy.

I am hoping by the end of this year I will find my passion by searching and trying a bunch of things but I think I will end up where I still am.

Don't stop thinking about money . Money is a good thing .. just think about how you can bring value to other people's life.. start small ..what can you do? It could be something as small as cuting the grass ... after all a man started a company called got junk with one truck and a dream to pick up people's junk from their home ....

I can only be honest and I don't think about how I can bring value to someone elses life, I am focusing on my life might sound selfish but its the truth. I can change it, but would it be for the right reasons? There is not much I can do, I mean I can fix computers software related issues, maybe hardware but there really isn't much.

read both of the books... to make money you only need to capture a very small percentage of a market.. what do you have knowledge about? random idea because you are from australia the land of flying spiders and sharks that appear in public pools, how about creating some type of spider cage or box bait thing? id imagine bugs are a problem in ozzy land.

to make money you need a product that sells on scale (example $100 x 10.000 buyers = $1m) or a service you can apply the same math..

ive made money flipping items, and selling services door to door.. you can to.

although if you are to lazy to read a self improvement book it showcases your lack of drive. trust me alot of people want to live a ''simple'' life but 99% are bribed with the drug called a steady paycheque and risk avoidance. ironically the real risk is relying on a paycheque..

repeated a million times on this forum sorry ill have to do it again.... solve a need/problem or desire in someones life then multiply that by thousands of people and you are going to live a good life.

failure is an amazing thing in life as long as you constantly analyze everything. go out there and try to make $1 within the next month. goodluck

My dad was an interesting guy. In his life, among his many occupations were: ditch-digger, farmer, liquor store clerk, business owner and shit-giver (at least that's what I thought his job was growing up because he always had plenty for me).

And yet, magically, he was the exact same person in every role. He just did a different job. Ditch digger? It was what he knew how to do at the time. Hard work, but he did it for the money. Farmer? Same. Business owner? Same. Working a shit shift for shit money in a shit part of town for a shit liquor store? Yeah, that's a big ole' SAME. Being retired and trying to protect the money he made? Same.

None of it defined him because we define ourselves in what we do for others.

I've owned and been a part of many businesses. From practice management to mobile shredding to analytics to lead gen, and a bunch more, It. Doesn't. Matter.

You are not what you do. Go get a job. Any job. Teach something. Move something. Respect it. Respect the people who do it with integrity. Learn what the company does, how it markets, how it sells, how it delivers and how they are able to hire and get a positive ROI from you.

Every sentence in your post could be it's own thread. So much self-defeat, entitlement, rationalized laziness and want.

We do what needs to get done, and THEN we can do what we want to do. Forget passions for now, they'll still be there when you have the means to pay them attention.

TLDR: get a job.

Serious question: Are you committed to this thing called entrepreneurship?

Or are you all hung-ho now, and in a couple months, you're going to give up and maybe read more books and dream about it for a while?

Serious question...

I didn't say I can't read that book. Infact reading books is a very easy thing to do. Will read it. I know I need to solve a problem, and I do have some ideas but shouldn't the idea be something I am passionate about? Or like I got so many ideas I don't know which one to go with.

Umm tough question maybe I just like the idea of being an entrepreneur, but I hate the process, but that is same with everyone I think they don't like it until they are successful. Well the thing is I give up but I start again give up and start again, just crashing and burning and trying again. Albert Einstein said the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result, maybe I am doing something wrong?

Start by reading the Gold Threads and the Notable Threads

Have you read the books?

It's great if you have lots of ideas. You need to just pick one and go with it. Start the market research, talk to people, see if people need the value you would provide through your idea. If it looks like a winner, start moving forward with execution. If it doesn't seem like it adds value to people's lives, pick idea #2 and go through the process again. Rinse and Repeat until you have something feasible that you can make work. Then work your a$$ off (pardon my french)

Read this thread as well, It's marked Gold and it's one of my favorites

No you can't burn yourself out . Maybe you just need a mentor or something . Try joining a startup first and see how they do things . Learn diferent skills once you feel ready go and hop on your own ideas but tackle one and stick with it for a year . Also you must have patience or else you will go crazy . Most things in life require patience business, relationship, school etc

You sound exactly like me at 18.

Actually, if I'm honest, you sound exactly like me at 21, 22, 23... you get the story.

I was fixated on finding the thing that would make me all the money and a success. I had a print business, a design agency, I ran a personalised gift service, I had a clothing line... and don't get me wrong I did okay at them.. but in terms of becoming anywhere near a millionaire.

Complete and utter failure.

The reason why? Because I went into all of those with one thing in mind - wanting to get rich. Wanting to be successful. Wanting to get all the glory. I wanted to play at being an entrepreneur (I know this because every time a client/customer asked me to do something I was really pissed off by it..) If it felt too much like hard work then I'd decide I'd convince myself that I just wasn't passionate about the industry and I'd give up on it and move onto the next shiny thing.

And the cycle continued. Again and again.

Until my playing at being the future millionaire swallowed up all my savings and left me with sleeping on my parent's floor and wallowing in self pity for months on end telling myself "I'm lazy... I'm just not good enough for this. I'm... I'm..."

I.

I.

I

Truth is that was all a load of bullshit. What I was had nothing to do with how successful I would be. What I was passionate about didn't mean anything and all lead to a road with one end destination - FAILURE.

Success comes from stopping looking internally. It's focusing externally. It's looking at what people need. It's looking at what solution you can provide.

These days my work is essentially making people and the media care about what my clients are doing online. I spend 80% of my time deep in spreadsheets and analytic data. The 18 year old me would be rolling their eyes and telling me they'd never do that because it's SOOOOO dull. Well, 18 year old me... let me tell you something - Yes, some days it's is a dull as dishwater and yes there are days I want to pack it all in, but here's the difference.

This actually gets me clients. This pays my bills and this leads to VERY happy clients and ones that I love working with because I make a positive difference to people.

My advice to you - you've obviously got the entrepreneurial bug or you wouldn't be here. Stop looking for the next quick fix or trending way to make money and go back to basics. Talk to friends and family. Talk to people at work. Find out their problems and then work on building the solution... and forget the need to be passionate about it - that will keep you tripping up all day long.

I think it sounds like your expectations of how great all this is supposed to be has been influenced abit too much by Steve Jobs and the rest of Silicon Valley. It's not supposed to be a 24/7 party. It's mostly a grind, but you'll get satisfaction from the results once they start to come- Similar to what people experience when they work out.

Read "So Good They Can't Ignore You - Cal Newport". It suggests that once you get good enough at something, it will become your passion- Rather than you being passionate about something will lead to you being good at it. Give it a read, it might change your expectations for all this abit.

I just wrote a detailed post that is exactly what you're needing to hear right now on another thread:
Free Workshop: For anyone struggling to find a business idea.

The example I used was with a girl who is an animal rights activist. She goes out every night and every weekend rain or shine to fight for saving the lives of animals. She doesn't give up when she doesn't see success right away. Her why is so strong, which backs up what she is doing, and how she does it just happens naturally when she starts with why she does it.

She works in non-profit so money isn't her motivator, but the same formula will work for getting you started...if entreprneeurship is right for you. Adjust your purpose and why, and the rest will be a lot easier.

If money is your purpose for business, there are a million ways to get distracted and lost.

If building electric motorcycles is your purpose, and you won't stop at anything to make it happen...you'll stay on track.

Who the heck let @Tanisha back in?

But seriously @LiveEntrepreneur you have gotten some good advice here. In fact, more than one member with the red "Legendary Contributor" tag has given you great advice. These are people that know what they are talking about. You came to a forum dedicated to entrepreneurship, where the concepts discussed revolve around two books and you don't want to read them? I'm genuinely curious what you are hoping to gain from being here.

I didn't say I can't read that book. Infact reading books is a very easy thing to do. Will read it. I know I need to solve a problem, and I do have some ideas but shouldn't the idea be something I am passionate about? Or like I got so many ideas I don't know which one to go with.

No.

Following your passion is terrible advice - often dispensed by people who didn't follow it.

Follow and fulfill a market need that allows you to scale out, divorce your income from your time, and gives you sufficient control over the business that you can modify it to meet ever changing demands.

You need a mindset shift.... The millionaire fastlane and unscripted can help you with that but you really need to get away from I and me and my because in business that's not what matters but the value you give your customer. I don#T care what you want to achieve but when your product solves my need as a customer I will buy your product and you are one sale towards your money destination.

A business should not start with passion because until you are successful your passion will fade away and you will hate it even more because you loved it at first... and then end up giving up on it too fast ...

I wish you the best of luck ... well no not luck but tenacity and stamina to give value to your customers and reach your goals. :)
(by the way you used I, me, my 50 times in your first post....)
